Janelle, I'm 5'7". I was almost 190 at the start, but my before pic was taken at around 180-185. This plan is a great place to learn how to change your lifestyle for good. I hope you stick around! Thank you for your cheers!!! jmayo, no I've been an omnivore for the past 20 years and much happier for it! I was a vegetarian for about 13 years, part of that time I was a true vegan and even a raw food'r. I've learned so much about MY body over these years. I thought protein was not so important back then, so I ate mostly fruit, veggies and carbs, some of the carbs were whole grains but in any case WAY TOO MUCH in volume! No wonder I had a weight problem and felt tired all the time. Linda, thanks! You can and will get to your goal BEFORE your goal date...IF you stick to this plan and don't stray! Keep up the good work! I actually did mine in 7 months and that included many weeks of losing zero, but always I was 100% with the food and water. The main thing for me was to STOP the YO-YOing. And I can say after 2+years on Living Lean that while I have allowed myself to go up the scale 5 pounds occasionally, I KNOW when I'm doing it, and I KNOW to take it back off right away!!! YO-YOing for ME was gaining and losing the same 30 pounds over and over again, and more recently would have been the same 55 pounds since I had added those 25 there in 2002-2003. I don't consider a 5 pound range YO-YOing, but to allow it to go much more than that would certainly be asking to go back to the old YO-YO way of life and I don't EVER intend to do that again!

Hi JC, just checking back to see what marvelous new comments everyone is writing to congratulate you. You really are such an inspiration to so many. KUDOS! And you betcha, I definitely want to go hiking with you. My knee is much, much better now. I've gone on a couple of bike rides this week and today I rode up to a trail, locked my bike and worked a little bit on trying to get my jogging groove back. With the Las Vegas marathon coming up in December, I need to get myself into a training schedule. Some cross training in the way of bike riding and me continuing to do pool exercises to help my knee is great. But, I know without following a training schedule which I actually came online to go find, but ended up here first...LOL...is what I need to disapline myself to do now. I still may need to modify what I am able to do a bit, and hopefully I will get some good advice from the sports medicine doctor I have an appointment to see, but I'm going for it even if I have to walk or crawl over the finishing line. LOL!

Hi, I just joined this website and am beginning the program. I trained with Michael's group 10 years ago but now I need help in getting motivated and how to do it. CJ's story really impressed me. Would someone or a group of you please help me get started. I know I'm a B but I have questions. I need a lot of support. I don't even know how to set up these emails and my page. All responses are welcomed. Thank you.

Hi Lady In L.A. my name Is Brenda, and I am having such a hard time, I do well than I mess up, I am an emotional eater, that don't help things. I was having problems with my marrage for a while, we both said mean things to each other, one of the things he said to me was, your fat you have a fat a-- and you will never lose weight, we have been married for 14 Years August 15-06 and he has never said anything about my weight , this was 7-21-06 and I can't get It out of my head, I think I'm even binging more. Now in the past 100 diets I have been on he would say he didn't want me loseing weight because I will get skinny and leave him, or he will eat junk food and offer me some, I feel I am on my own, I know what to do with the life style change, just want to be able to get to my goal weight I am 181 lbs I am 5"3 I am a body type c I need to be 135 to 140 I think?. Please help me some how to get there. Thank you, Brenda ( loventhesun63)

Hi Brenda, I just want to encourage you to do the program .. I'm sorry you aren't getting much support right now but remember you are doing this for you !! please don't binge!! just focus on eating healty and eating right, we all say mean things when we really don't mean too... just talk to him and find out what the problem is..... my husband and I have been married 33 years, he has seen me on every diet out there, and he has seen me from 140 the day we married to as much as 226... He is mostly worried about my health, and that is when he says something.. maybe thats what your dh is thinking about... keep up the good work.. you can do it... we are the same height, and I am looking forward to being 181 in a few weeks, its been a long long time since I was there... vi

Brenda, I can see that your self image is tied into a lot of emotional issues that need sorting out. I'm not a therapist but I'd sure recommend you and your dear hubby go to counseling as soon as possible to deal with the underlying causes of your issues. I'm single today but have been married a few times and while I do recall losing weight in the midst of chaos, I can tell you that the root of my self image problems had nothing to do with the marriage and the losing of the weight had nothing to do with being in a healthy place with my own self image either because I sure was not. Learning to love myself was difficult while in a chaotic relationship. The closest I came was when BOTH of us were in INDIVIDUAL therapy focussing on INDIVIDUAL issues. It's no surprise that BOTH of us had similar issues, after all we found one another, hehe...but the thing is that until I dealt with MY individual self image issues I did not learn to respect or love myself, so I could not justify having my partner respect and love me either, even though that's certainly what I hollered about most of the time, wanting to be respected. YOU can ONLY work on YOU! Losing the weight will neither threaten or strengthen the foundation of a HEALTHY relationship, let alone one that has an undercurrent of insecurity. I personally think that you should be focussing on the greater issues first, then as you trust yourself you can address your weight issues and you will have the strenght to commit to a rigid plan like this. Yo-yo'g on this plan will get you nothing but frustration...which you don't need. Obviously you also have to develop some "thick skin" so that your self image isn't crushed by the remarks of others, especially loved ones. You can't UNring a bell, but you can let go of resentments and anger and just ask yourself some hard questions, like Dr. Phil asks "What is it about that other person that you just can't stand... about yourself?"....our mates are reflections of US, OUR feelings about OURSELVES. HUGS!!!

Elaine, I think your avatar changed AGAIN!!!! WOW, 12 pounds from your goal now girl!!! And what? Running marathons??? WOW! I used to run, and I loved it, but can't do it now unfortunately. Hiking is a very benign way of building core strength, not very stressful on the body. It really improves the heart and lungs and gives you endurance. I really recommend it! I'll be getting into hiking here again, just as soon as the weather cools down some. I can't hike in the heat, especially with menopause setting in...hot flashes are hard enough on me, hehe. I went kayak surfing again this weekend. I do love that sport, especially with my bladder incontinence, hehe. It's so nice not to have to wear a wetsuit too. The water is about 67% right now. You should bring your camper up to the rv park where I have my trailer some time! Right now the water level in the river is WAY down, so it's just plain fun and safe too. You can camp real close to the water and still have hookups including cable tv! Here is the link... http://riverviewtrailerpark.com I'm going up Thurs. afternnoon till Sunday and then on Aug. 24th until Sept. 5th for vacation. If you browse the map and click on pics you will see my space, C-12 on the river front, but it has a trailer from before mine was there. It's an awesome place, and the village is cool too. There is also a big lake, Lake Isabella, just below Kernville with a ton of watersports. I like to ride my bicycle around there too, but I'm no trail rider, although they do have trails.

ilvstrings...best advice is to join a thread with like minded folks posting for support. People come and go but you'll meet some that will be with you for years in here, I have!!! I stayed away from threads where people were going on and off the plan though...I was totally serious about losing the weight and didn't want to fool around! Good luck!

Dear Lady! I just wanted to thank you for your "vote of confidence"... I KNOW I can do this, too, and not only that, I WILL, by golly! I am doing it 100% and CAN NOT FAIL! I ALREADY feel lighter, just KNOWING this is the way to go! I love the frequent meals, and the feeling of "fat burning"... Seriously, I'm actually HUNGRY when I eat and not just "stuffing" down pain... I, too, am an Emotional Eater (like Brenda) so it is a STRUGGLE to stay away from the crap.. but you just have to remember that "Crap in, is Crap out"... I want to put only healthy and deliciously natural foods into my body from now on... I'm on a journey of self-love, not self-sabatoge! Brenda, dear, NO ONE can make you feel crappy about yourself (without your permission) so IGNORE your husband's nasty comments (believe me, I know it is hurtful, mine is the same way).... He was recently spelling "SIZEMUS" (meaning I'm BIG in SIZE) in the air the other day when I was sitting outside in my bathing suit.... he asked me "Do you know what I'm spelling?" I said Well... I see "S.... E.... X....Y" well, thank you darling, I KNOW I'm sexy, too! (In other words I ignored his nasty comments and made light of it). Men feel threatened when their world is changing. Too bad. If he wants to join me in losing weight and getting healthy, fine. If not, fine. I really am not concerned about what he does or says! It's not my "journey". I am. And, I'm on my way! WWHOOO HOOOOO! Watch out "Baywatch Babes"... I'm 'a comin'!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh JC, just look at all the lovely postings that have flooded this success thread of yours!! And, they couldn't be for a more deserving, lovely lady (really a HOT mama, but I have to maintain my decorum here!! ) I think most inspriational of all is that you've lost the weight but GAINED such insight into who you are and who you will continue to be for the rest of your life. The fact that you share this daily with your special form of insight and dedication on your 100% thread makes you INVALUABLE to all of us here. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all you do, for all of whom you support, and for all you inspire DAILY!! Much love and hugs coming your way!!!

Linda.....WOW, you said a LOT!!! Your advice to Brenda is right on and I LOVE the way you told your hubby thank you for calling you S-E-X-Y, That IS Self-LOVE!!! You are teaching him about you and reinforcing the way you deserve to be treated. I know he will get it and in time he won't have any choice but to look within himself to find out that thing that's bugging him. I really like it that you are recognizing this opportunity to make a real lifestyle change rather than just to lose the weight. That IS what it's all about as far as I am concerned. Thank you for your post, and keep up the GREAT work!!! Dolores, YOU inspire ME girl!!! All YOU do for SO MANY, not just in here either!!! You and your dear, sweet Randy, both of you are Angels in my eyes! I have so much to learn. But, as I am learning I will continue to share the gifts I am receiving because what else would I do with them? hehe. Michael is responsible for having set me back on the right path, so I am forever grateful. I just can't keep up though with all the newbies on the 100% thread I used to have more time during work hours to post and a computer at home, but now...well, they are all in great company no matter...Lauren, Sue, Cindy, Donna, and of course my dear sweet Ellenor are holding down the fort! Odds are we'll give you a nice new "crop" of success stories too, hehehe!!! Oh, I was telling Elaine, once the weather cools down a bit my hiking passion will be rekindled and I'll be going more regularly up Griffith Park, so hopefully you will join me!!! Randy is welcome too...evening hikes are even more beautiful than day hikes up there, but both are sweet. Thank you so much for all your kindness to me Dolores!!! HUGS!!!

JC, Delores...all you ladies. I am inspired by all of you!!! Wow!!! This is my 6th week on my first 6 weeks and I have lost 11.5 pounds to date. I am so thrilled to be on this program as I have not felt this great in months..maybe years. As I wind up my first 6 weeks, I made a commitment andd goal to complete the next 6 weeks which begins on 8/21/06 with a goal to STAY ON PLAN 100% the entire time. After reading JC's testimony, the one thing that jumped at me was the comment to find and stay on threads where members are committed to staying on course. I have a great motivation group that has helped me al great deal but I would also like to join this group to challenge me to "kick things up a notch". I know success begins with a decision. Thanks so much JC for sharing your story and for helping to motivate others. You are so beautiful...and should be so proud of your huge accomplishment. Congratulations!!!!

Lola, Vivian, thank YOU BOTH! You are both going to get to your goal and beyond by staying 100% on plan, I know that to be true! The 100% thread is growing lately like crazy, but there is always room for you. The energy is very invigorating there and Cindy posts weekly celebration stats for all who contribute their progress...and boy does she do it in style! Enjoy the thread(s) and stay on plan! HUGS!

Hey JC, Just wanted to drop by and give you the well deserved CONGRATULATIONS! in being our August Centerfold (Oops! I mean Success Story) You, my friend, have been an inspiration for sooo many. And even after all this time, you still have the Juice to help motivate. Not only those who are learning and struggling, but those of us who are successful and continue to "walk the walk" as well. I am sooo glad that I got the chance to meet you this summer as now when I read your posts, I can hear your voice with the smile in it, and I can visualize your frisky manner. Sparkle and energy should be your middle names. I am glad to see that you are keeping up with the Minnies even if from the background. I can't imagine how you keep up with the boards you post on already. I'm with Marty, too, in that you should consider coming out for the get-together we are planning for next fall. What a kick to have the 4 Newport lunchers together again. Elaine, that's you too! Then this "hot-guy" magnet could share some of her secrets (you are too funny). For those that would enjoy seeing a somewhat current pic of our Star, here are some pics from a recent gathering of some of Michael's fans. Okay, for those wondering.... from the left Karen, Diane, Tray, JC and Elaine. We met up in Newport Beach for lunch. What a fun bunch to draw to! Glad I could play, too

JC I've only been on your thread for a week or so, so you can imagine my surprise when I checked out this month's success story and recognized the name! Diane, you DO live up to that "SWEET" in your name!!! Are you all meeting up in New England in the fall? I can't remember! Speaking of KEEPING UP with posts, hehehe, I am having brain fade as my 97 year old friend Julie calls it, hehe. I don't fly, lol. I avoid planes at all costs. But, I'll be there in spirit. Have you "talked" to the twins since that lunch? The boy twins, that is, hehe. By the way, I like that reference to me being "frisky" that describes me, hehe. I wish we could all meet up once a month!!! I had SO much fun. Tray and I are trying to schedule something soon, but both of us have had busy schedules. Well, I'm leaving the office in a minute, so I'll see ya later, THANKS for your kind words and friendship!!! AND for posting our pics up again too!

Lynn, you keep up the GOOD WORK and you WILL be on LL before ya know it girl! I'm having a hard time keeping up with the thread lately, just mostly cause it's summer and I'm out of town a lot in the summer, but I've seen your name there and hope to get to know you better over time. STICK around, and you definitely found one of the best support teams on the site!!! TAKE CARE, and THANK YOU for your kind words too!
