Like most people I’ve met, I have been struggling with weight issues for most of my life. I started getting chubby around 8 years old and it just got worse from there. As a full grown adult I had never seen under 205 pounds on the scale. Well, that is until now! :) I still can’t believe it’s my turn to be the next success story - it almost hasn’t really sunk in yet! :)
Being tall (5’11”), I always thought I could “hide” my weight effectively, but topping out at 276 lbs, I wasn’t kidding anyone except myself. Every year I was getting older and unhealthier. I had dreams of having children with my husband, but when the time came that we were as prepared as we could be and it became a reality, I suddenly got a big reality check about my health. I was not in a position to carry a child without the inevitability of complications, not to mention not a very enjoyable pregnancy. I knew then I HAD to do something - something I hadn’t tried yet (and I’ve tried almost all of the diets out there including counting ‘points’, eating low carb, starvation… but with any other plan I always lost 20 lbs and then gained back 20+!).
It was around this time in March 2003 that I happen to catch the 6WBMO infomercial. I had seen it 2 years earlier, but I wasn’t in the right state of mind at the time and didn’t think I could afford it. But now there I was, I had finally had my “ah-ha” moment and desperately needed a change - a plan of action - and with the payment plan option, I happily ordered the plan.

I started the plan on March 24, 2003 and lost 6lbs in the first week, 27 lbs in 6 weeks and 50 lbs in 4 months! The rest came off a little more slowly but I lost 90 lbs in 11 months! The original measurement of one of my thighs is now my waist size. I’ve lost over 71 inches of myself (that’s the same as my height!). I went from a size 24 (tight) to a 14. Even my ring size went from a 9 to a 6 1/2. In shirts I went from size 3X to a Large! It was an awesome experience to be able to purchase a shirt without an “X” in the size! :)
For the first three weeks on the plan I didn’t do any exercising and only stuck to the food plan and drinking water. The results from doing just that were incredible - far surpassing any previous “diet” experience. Once I started some cardio and the sculpting band exercises, the pounds just melted away quicker and I started developing muscles in places I never knew I had any! :) I never had to set foot in a gym. All I’ve ever done consistently is walking and the band exercises - that’s all it takes! As I’ve heard a hundred times before, this plan really works if you work the plan! It’s so true.
When I think of the last year, I don’t feel like it was ‘torture’ or that I struggled or was ever really ‘deprived’. All of the physical and mental benefits far out weighed any moment of so-called ‘deprivation’. It almost feels effortless in the overall picture - unlike any other former ‘diets’ when 1 month seemed like a year! And now here I am, meeting my original goal of >190. This is actually not my final goal weight. This was just the goal I gave myself to be a healthier weight to finally start trying to have a child. I plan to just continue losing until that miracle happens, and when it does, I feel so relieved to know I have this plan to go back to if I need to lose any pregnancy weight. I’ve learned so much about my body’s chemistry and what it is to “eat healthy” that I have lessened my fears about gaining too much weight during a pregnancy. This plan has given me the knowledge and confidence to know I can live lean for life.
Buying this plan was the best present I’ve ever given myself. I have so much more confidence and self-esteem. I love that my hubby can call me “sexy” and I can finally believe him. Besides the wonderful mental changes, I physically feel better than I have in years. My knees no longer go out or ache and I don’t wake up with back aches anymore. I can fit in any plane or rollercoaster seat out there. I love that I can cross my legs like a lady and be able to wrap a hotel sized towel all the way around me with nothing peeking out! :) It’s things like this that I never want to take for granted.
Besides how awesome this plan works, another great thing about it is these chat forums. I have gotten so much guidance and assistance - it has truly acted as a life saver. It has also been a wonderful resource for recipes, among other things. Thank you to all of you that have helped me along the way - friends, family and especially to my tenacious chat buddies who have supported, encouraged and challenged me. :) And of course, a special thanks to Michael Thurmond - thanks for making my body make sense to me. :D

    Gwen,
You look beautiful.... I myself am taller then the average.. I know I know... 5'8 is not that tall, but let my family tell it.. I'm a giant. I'm the youngest and tallest.. Funny! *pause* guess you have to be there..
Anyway, you are an inspiration, because being taller doesn’t mean you have to be a size 2 to look gorgeous. I have never been thin but I've carried my weight to where I didn’t look as big as I really am. I've always had this fantasy that I had to be a size 6 to be at goal... looking at your pictures, I know see what my family is always telling me. They would tell me that I wouldn’t look right being a size 6. Now I see..
    Once again, you are gorgeous,,
    You go girl!!

    Gwen,
You look simply marvelous, marvelous. Your story is an inspiration and motivator. Let your light shine, you deserve it. My 8 year old daughter is taller than average, and little on the heavy side. That's one of the reasons why I am learning to do this, so that in the process she can learn as well. It's hard to have her on the program because of school so she can't eat all her meals. But, summer is right around the corner. She just became active. She wants told me that she didn't want to be fat. When she comes in I'm going to show her your picture, I believe it will help her to know that it is possible to eat health and lose weight.
    Again you look simply MARVELOUS;)

Well, I am back from my business trip!
Thanks to you all for your messages - believe it or not, I still need to be inspired too!! :)
For those of you just starting out, I'm glad I could serve as a spring board motivation, even if it's just for a moment. Sometimes I wish I could look at my pictures and my success story and forget that's it's me, but that's hard to do... even though I do find some old pictures of myself and think "oh my gosh, did I REALLY look like that???" :)
It's a great feeling being "Miss May"... sure didn't see that happening over a year ago when I started the plan. I feel an enormous amount of pride to be included in this huge group of successful 'losers'... I know that all of you that may still be just "on your way" or haven't reached your goals yet will join us soon too. Just keep at it! :)
    Thanks,
    Gwen

I am a newbie but I just had to say congratulations! Those are some of the most incredible before and after photos I have seen yet! You really have done it. You deserve it all. I just read your story and I must say that YOU inspire me as well. I too have tried it all and including the cabbage one (haha) and from looking at your success and all the others here I know I can make this work just like you have. Again Gwenn congratulations and I wish you all the luck in the world on starting your new family.
