Jules, 6 days POP and you have seen results, that is great! Yes, I've been around the threads, NBU and so forth. You will sense a slight "NBU feel" to my posts and activites. Kathleen and I believe in "listen, care, show em what to do". I'm looking forward to Beginning Again with you!
Holly, ahhh, a SMARTie/6weeker! Are you currently "listening to lose"? I haven't listened to Mary in awhile, gonna have to get the batteries changed in my cd player. That's great that you reached goal in four months back in 2007. You can do it again Holly, just gotta get your "resolve" back. I'm looking forward to "shaking things up" with you as we "go for goal again" together!

My husband and I have been married for 41 years and are both retired. We live in Northwest Florida. I retired in 2004. When I was working I was in Public Affairs for the Army Corps of Engineers. We have two sons and they live in Virginia and Georgia. We have one beautiful granddaughter, Grace and of course our cat, Snickers. My hobbies are pastel painting and tri-loom weaving. I also love to read and of course play on computers.
Last May, after reaching the 200 mark, I once again quit playing and started loosing again, down to 160 in November. Of course over Christmas I started eating again. So now I’m around 185 and starting again.
Journaling Through the Journey, Monarchs. Others for a very short time, but not truly satisfactory.
One other little note. When I began successfully in 2005 I was so excited because Susan and Kathleen had just started a new thread, Journaling Thru the Journey. Now again in 2009 they are starting another new thread, and here I am again. Thank you guys.
Fight On!

I look forward to getting to know all of you! Thanks for this thread.
Hello and good evening from Kansas! Hope you all are cool and comfy! First big heat wave of the year hit today--well over 100*! Can't say it's my favorite time of year! lol
It's so exciting to see everyone here today. Greetings to old friends Susan and Jan--and new friends, Holly, Jules and Jeanne!
I've read everyone's questionnaire--thanks so much for doing those. It really helps us get acquainted fast. I was struck once again, as I have been so many times over the years, at the vastness of this internet family--Provida. Here we are only a half dozen and we have the country covered from east to west and north to south! FL to AK to WV then KS and MO! (Jules, read and reread and must have missed your state.)
I was also struck by the depth of understanding this group brings to the thread. Among us we have 30 years of Provida experience. That's impressive!
I'm sure with all that experience, each one will have much to share. I see "motivation" and "inspiration" and "tips and tricks" as well as favorite recipes, cooking techniques, exercise routines and the all important ACCOUNTABILITY in our futures.
Susan and I hope that everyone feels comfortable sharing your favorite motivational articles, your great ideas for working the PLAN, and your questions and answers. We all learn from each other, we all are inspired by each other and we all benefit from the journey we share.
Once again, welcome, we're so pleased you are here! It's going to be a great journey!
Kathleen, KS
Jan, Jeanne and Kathleen!Jan, It's great seeing you here!!! We have the knowledge, the skills, the motivation and now the RESOLVE to work this plan as written to reach GOAL! FIGHT ON! We might be getting those SMART cd's out, you never know!Jeanne, it's great having a TRUE LIVING LEANER with us here in the BEGIN AGAIN group. Welcome. You are a true example of how you can "Begin Again, Lose Again and then LIVE LEAN!" I was posting in Dolores' first challenge thread, but it didn't really "take" with me I guess, cuz I didn't lose any with that challenge. Today is different though, TODAY IS THE DAY!!Kathleen, thanks for coming over with me to start this thread. I know the theme of "Begin Again" is going to help many many people lose those regained pounds (plus help you and I, as well. lol). We have always been a great team and I thank you for all the help you have given me running groups here in Providaland! :-)
Kathleen,
sorry about that. I was in a hurry to finish so I could leave for work and not be late. I live in southeastern Michigan, about 25 miles from Detroit.
I had another good day. The weather here is hot also, but not nearly as bad as some of you are getting. The humidity in the 90's is wearing me out.
I'll check back tomorrow when I get up.

Good morning all! Yesterday was a good day. I was POP, got in all the water, and even rode the stationary bike for 35 minutes. As I stated in my initial post, cardio is my biggest challenge. I work 12-14 hour days and I'm not a morning person....at all.
Any tips on what you guys do to motivate yourselves to do cardio?
I started listening to SMART again about a week ago. I really enjoy the relaxation and it seems to be starting to work!
After a speech one day, Zig Ziglar was approached by someone in the audience who said:
"Zig, it was a great speech, but...motivation doesn't last."
Zig said, "Bathing doesn't either. That's why I recommend it daily!"
Holly, group classes work the best for me. Today I managed 25 in a water aerobics class then had to leave because of the sun. I finished up another 15 minutes in the indoor pool, but it wasn't nearly as effective.
I had another day POP and going strong. Summer has finally hit with a vengence. I don't relish the thought of turning on anything that produces heat. However, if I don't cook up some protein, I'll be in bad shape by tonight.
Paula, welcome to our new home... the BEGIN AGAIN thread. I know you will find inspiration and motivation here, as we are beginning again! My hope is we will all go forward together on this journey, no matter how long we have struggled or plateaued. Glad you are here with us!
Two reasons to stay on plan... when I get back on I the first week I get terrible "detox headaches" and "after-exercise soreness"!
Can anyone relate? Does anyone have any suggestions? HELP!
Today is #2 POP day for me, and water weight comes off fast they say... yesterday was 135.0 and today I am 133.6. That is 1.6 lb. in the first 24 hours. This is normal for me, and I know it's "water weight", but who cares WHAT it is... It's less weight my back and knees are carrying around AND it's incentive to keep on going!
HOW IS EVERYONE ELSE DOING SO FAR?
Holly and Jules, high five for making your Mondays POPing and working out also!
Oh, for those of you who wish you weren't roasting in the summer heat.... we are sitting at 56* here. NOT warm even for Alaska. Would like to see it warm up to 70*. This Alaskan doesn't want any more heat than that tho!!!
Hi all! How's your second day back OP going?
Susan, I see you are dealing with those detox headaches--sure hope it's a short round of it. Not sure I've ever seen anything to do for them other than what you are already. Maybe an ice pack later this evening, when you can lie down a bit? Always worked for "other" headaches" as I remember! lol
Jules, thanks--MI--another state! I can imagine what the weather there feels like with temps in the 90's and what must be high humidity for you so close to the lake. I lived in Chicago "long time ago" and I very well remember the headline on the Chicago paper on Aug. 20, 1959! "100* and 100% humidity!" I can remember the date 'cause it's the day my youngest DB was born! THAT was one hot summer! Hope the rest of this one doesn't stay so hot!
Paula, hey great to see you! I was making some notes and didn't see your body type in your profile. Do I remember you are a "C?" How's the job going?
Holly, I may not be the right person to answer your question about motivation for doing cardio, but I did have a thought. Some people who use a treadmill or stationary bike, use videos or music to occupy the time. I know Susan has a favorite program she finds helpful. Years ago, when I did use a stationary bike, I watched a football game while on it! Time passed quickly!
Jan, how ya doin' there in FL? Has this heat reached you yet? Are you painting much these days? I had to show Cat my ornament--she's a would-be artist! She loved it. Is DH doing the plan with you this time?
Jeanne, did you have a good Tuesday? I'm sure the heat has reached St. Louis--another place that can be incredibly humid also! Visited there in the late summer of '91. Loved it. LL for over half a year! Wonderful! You'll have to share your "secrets" as we approach goal. I've heard there isn't a lot of information on the threads about LL.
About ready to call it an evening. Chicken's almost done--I decided to boil it this time, with some seasoning. Makes great broth and I'll use that and the leftovers to make soup in a day or two. I finally have some OKRA to go in it! (Sorry, Susan--I'll have to dish up yours before I add the okra!)
I think it's a ballgame evening--Yanks are playing my Braves. Looks like a good game.
Have a great evening!
Yes, it is extremely hot and humid. Walking outside for a few minutes and you feel like a wet rag. I've been trying to stay in as much as possible. Hopefully at least the humidity will let up soon. It seems like we went from cool to rainy to steamy. Oh well, that's St. Louis.
I've done great today. I still have to get my cardio/toning in.
Glad everyone else is doing a good job too.
Jeanne
