Well, I haven't lost 100 lbs. but I have lost 100% of what I needed to lose, and for me, losing the 36 lbs. that I'd been carrying for nine years, and, being overweight by at least 30 lbs for most of my adult life seemed insurmountable, especially since all of the other "plans" I tried never worked for me. But then came Michael Thurmond and Provida. I was watching TV one Saturday morning and caught the infomercial and thought, "that just might work", and, well, here I am. It looked honest to me. Nothing like take this pill and lose ten pounds in 48 hours; or, this "electronic ab machine" will build hard sexy abs without exercise. After Emily, my first grandchild was born, I knew I needed to do something. There was a history of heart disease and diabetes in my family and I wanted to see her grow up and have her children. My intitial motivation was to lower my cholesterol, and, naturally, losing weight had to be part of that plan, and I didn't want to take any cholesterol reducing drugs. I started the program on Ash Wednesday (Feb.13) and by Easter Sunday, I had already lost 26 lbs. In just four weeks, my cholesterol had gone from 262 to 172, a ninety point drop. I was ecstatic. A couple of weeks later, I had an overall heart check-up. The nurse could not believe how smoothe and quiet my heart sounded. She said most my age really pound hard and loud. I received my heart score a few days later. Between 75-100 is classifed as "excellent heart health". I scored an 83. Over the next six weeks, I lost another 10 lbs. and a total of 34.5 inches. My body fat % for my height and age should be 15. By this time it was 12% and my BMI 22.14. My biggest loss was in my waist going from a 40" waist to a 31". Currently, I'm at a 30" waist and my body fat % has dropped to 9%. I decided to reapply for the best rate for on my life insurance policies after the cholesterol drop and now I'm saving over $500 per year in premiums. This has been one of the best investments of my life. I'm 49 years young and now have the waist size I thought was a pipe dream, the energy of a twenty year old, and am more physically fit than I've ever been in my life. This program eventually will be the catalyst to get my wife's health in order. Eighteeen months ago, she was almost killed in a bad car accident with severe injuries to her face and right eye. She's had two reconstructive surgeries and one plastic surgery, plus a ton of physical therapy. For a long time she was very depressed and didn't care about herself. She's making a remarkable recovery and since she's seen the progress I've made with the 6WBMO, she's planning a to make a run at it herself. This Friday & Saturday, June 28 and 29 is my 31st class reunion and I expect it will be the most memorable of all. Thanks Michael Thurmond and Provida for giving me and my family such a wonderful gift through your knowledge and research. I am definitely one of your biggest fans.
With Sincerest Appreciation,
Mark

I just had to respond, Mark. I've been reading your posts for about 4 weeks now and always been inspired. It's great to know folks over 40 can do this because I always vowed that I'd get my spare tires off by 40 and could never make it happen. So now that I'm 40+ I, too, have health issues to deal with as a result.
I've just hit 15 pounds in 4 weeks and am taking it slowly so I can keep it off for life! This is the best plan I've found and these posts keep up the motiviation.
I know your wife must be so proud of you and that can be a great motivator. Nothing heals like a shot of positive self-esteem!
Keep up the good work in Living Lean and keep motivating us! Thank you!!!

Thanks guys for the kind words and your best wishes for
my wife's complete healing and recovery. I certainly hope
I can capture her motivation to get started soon. I always
tell people now that I'm on this health kick: What good does it do for me to live to be 100 if the last forty years
I'm alone by myself. If she doesn't start soon, there could be other health issues that could arise. My wife is the best friend I have in the whole world and when God kept her life along with her smile and her eyesight, I was so grateful. Things like that make you realize how vulnerable you are and how fragile life is. Appearances are important to us. But health is really the most critically important of the two. Thanks again for your kind responses.

Sir Mark, this whole string has brought tears to my eyes. First of all, congratulations on your success. I have been reading your posts also, and they make me laugh a lot and cry too.
I will pray for your wife. It tugs at my heart to know that you really, truly have stuck by her for better and for worst, in sickness and in health. I am 26 and I already have friends getting divorced for ridiculous reasons. I am so happy for the both of you that you have eachother...it sounds like you are a great team.

*Loud thunderous applause*
Sir Mark, You know that I think you are wonderful! I think your success has been amazing, and I recieve great motivation to know that you have met your initial goal, and still feel motivated to go for more goals. I am very impressed.
I can really feel the love for your wife, and I am sure she can too. Tell her I hope she fully recovers very soon.
I do want to encourage her to start now. I have 8 chronic health conditions, I have had five surgeries, most of which in the last few years......including a full hysterectomy 2 years ago at 29. My poor health for years left me too tired to walk my kids to their doctor appointments, which were only a few blocks from my house. Getting home was a nightmare. I understand how an accident, or serious illness can just take away your feeling of vitality and security. I know that being that sick can really eat at your soul and depress you. I have been there. But tell her, from me, that this plan has helped mroe than any surgery, or drug that a doctor can prescribe. You see, since starting this plan I can stay awake all day long.....and take care of my kids. FULLY. Usually I would have to take 1-2 naps a day to deal with the Fibromyalgia. The pain from the endometrosis had me on heavy duty narcotics for awhile.........at that time, I couldn't take care of them at all......they did for themselves. I never thought I would be able to run errands all day, or do all of my chores in one day without needing three days to recover. I just never believed I could do "normal" things again. Well, I AM! I am not a 100% yet, not by a long shot. But now, in the year I needed it the most with my husband gone to war, I can do it myself. I don't need him to come resuce me, to cook dinner, and care for the kids because I wasn't capable of it. Now I can do it. I know the longer I stay on this program the better I will feel. How do I now for sure? Well I have gone off for a few days here, or a week or two there........and I feel AWFUL! Just like I did before starting. Then I go back on the plan, and within a week I am back to feeling good. I know I may never operate at 100%, but if all I can do is 80-90% then I want it to be the best 80-90% I can give. My health will always be bad, I will always have physical deformities (severe scholiosis) that I was born with.......but I can be the best and healtiest me that I can be. So I say, go for it! I will help you take back what was taken from you.
I hope you don't mind what I said, Sir Mark, as this is coming just from one of the humble ladies in waiting in Thurmaina, but I believe I understand some of what your wife feels. I just wanted to encourage her. You are a wonderful husband, I can tell. Just keep loving her like you do, and that will make all the difference in the world. My God bless you both. Lisa

Idwall (Lisa), your compassionate thoughts and words are
much appreciated. It's one of the refreshing things I love
about this chat forum. Most of the people sincerely wish
everyone the best and I don't think it's just because we all
had the same problem of weight, although that is our common ground
and the vantage point from which conversations like these emerge. Let me say to you to not be too quick to relegate your own potential for eliminating those
areas of "less than perfect" health as something you'll always have to live with. There is us and then there is God. There's the finite and then there is infinite. We are His creation, His children. And "healing is the children's bread." I believe that God can re-form your spine and completely remove the remnants of your past health problems. Call me crazy. But I've recently witnessed Him take my wife's paralyzed face and crooked smile with the nerve that controls your entire smile on the right side of the face, and which was deeply cut, restore it to 98% so far. She's got her smile back and the doctor was very skeptical from the beginning. I sat there in front of the doctor after her first surgery while she was in the recovery room and with tears flooding my head, listened to him somberly tell me he wasn't sure if that nerve would regenerate since it was cut and damaged very badly, and that she may never have control over the right side of her face, giving her a perpetual crooked smile. I was more upset at the thought of it than I was believing what he was saying---because earlier I had received an assurance from the Holy Spirit. God spoke to my heart and said that "everything was going to be all right...not some right, but ALL RIGHT." I received that assurance and you should see how beautiful she is. No matter what the cirumstances say, I say...But God...."is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think." "Trust in the Lord and don't lean on your own understanding." Go with His plan...It never fails. Thanks again, and I will also be praying for your complete health.
Sir Mark

Thanks Sir Mark, I am glad you have the faith that I will get all of my health back. I do know that the Dear Lord above is capable of many wonderous things.........and I am confident he will restore my health as much or as little as he chooses. I do know that through these times of poor health, I have become a better person. So I will never complain about those years, it was a tool the Lord used to make me into a more Godly woman. At this point, every thing else is icing on the cake.
May God continue to send miracles your way. Lisa

Sir Mark... What can I say to you that has not already been said in this thread? That I have followed your progress in the program through these posts and that I am so very very happy for you? That I knew from our communications here that you were a special man and I felt a kinship with you? Now, I read about your dear wife and her struggles and your incredible support. You are truly an awesome man. My office staff cant understand why I am sitting here at my desk with tears streaming down my face. You and your wife are in my thoughts and sending you big virtual hugs my friend. Enjoy your reunion. You will be the greatest success story there.

Soar, about your signature quote...You're right. It's not how you start...it's how your finish that counts.
Idwall, (Lisa), your comments about accepting whatever God
sends and that anything more is just icing on the cake
reminds me of something God also spoke to my heart when
my father was dying in a hospital in 1997. Again, it was the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart as I desperately prayed
for his healing. This is what I heard Him speak to me: "Faith is believing Me for a certain outcome---but trust is
resting in whatever the outcome is." I have come to recognize that often, that quiet kind of faith and acceptance I sense in your comments does not necessarily indicate an abdication of hope, but a sincere trust you have in the care of your heavenly Father. Thanks for praying
for more miracles in my family. We all need those types of prayers at times and I have no problem receiving any and all
He wishes to give me.
On another note, last night was the first night of my 31st
class reunion. It was great seeing everybody there and reminising about old times, discovering what's new, learning how people have changed, mostly for the better. Many couldn't believe how much weight I had lost. Tonight is the second and final night and I expect to see more people
that couldn't come last night. I'm really looking forward to it.
Taebodiva, thanks for the heart felt thoughts and the "virtual hugs". Many last night at my class reunion couldn't
believe my wife had been in a car accident because she looks so good. She's healing wonderfully and I am so thankful to The Great Physician whose bringing it all to pass. Tough times don't come to stay. They come to pass.
Keep your hearts pointed north. Until the next post, have a great weekend.
Sir Mark

Mark,
Your courage and faith have kept you going toward a goal that many see as impossible. Your love and devotion to your wife are most admirable. In this crazy world it's sometimes hard to find role-models, you Sir Mark are certainly a role-model. May you enjoy years of happiness and continue to inspire others toward their goals. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all.
Oh and congrats on being the Quote of the Month man. You deserve the recognition and applause!
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention what a 'hottie' you are. ;)

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback. Used2Bthin Lisa, I needed to hear that about the six-pack. Sometimes
others see what you can't. That encourages me to go on to the next level rather than give up on it. Good Success to
you also as you close in on Living Lean. You're almost
there.

Sir Mark I've been so encouraged by your posts I can hardly wait to start the program. I plan to start as soon as I get it. I plan to keep it a secret from all my family and friends. I want to surprise them by loosing 65 lbs by christmas. My father is 58 and needs a heart and lung transplant. he had his first heart attack when he was 47 My aunt his sister also had one at age 47 . My grandfather died at age 59 of a heart attack. I want to see my kids, kids when they have them. My mother in law who was a wonderful woman died April 25 this year of a blood clot on the brain. She was 55. I know she is in heaven she was saved the same day I was three years ago. I have no doubt I'll see her again when the Great God of ours takes me home or all of us together on that grand day. I want to be with my family as long as I can and be healthy. in the meantime, THank you for your words and remember anything asked according to Gods will. He will grant.

I will be praying for your father's total healing and
recovery. I can certainly identify with a lot of what
you said.

Sir Mark:
First and foremost congratulations on your successful journey to a healthy, happy you.
Second of all you are a truly wonderful man for "doing" all that you have for your family. Your post has brought me to tears thinking of how lucky your granddaughter and your wife are (Yes, I know you are blessed and feel lucky to have them in your life as well ;) ) Loosing the weight for your health will be a huge factor in keeping it off as you have already done so, plus it doesn’t hurt that most people do not believe that your are approaching the 50 mark!!
I too have read many of your posts through out my 12 week journey of finding my size 6 body within (still a few more lbs. to go…) and I have come to see that your intelligence and insight as well as your compassion for life and those around you is what makes you truly a “Sir Mark”.
I wish you and your wife all the best that life has to offer. Here is to another 28 years together. :)
Take care and keep us informed of the rest of your journey. You are an inspiration and true motivator.
All the best ~ April
