I have been heavy my whole life. I never really thought I could ever be thin, I figured I was doomed to genetics. When you are heavy you always hear the same thing especially from your family, “You’re just big boned.” or my favorite “But you have such a pretty face.” I never could figure out what that had to do with weight.
About 16 years ago I lost about 50 pounds. I was young and not very happy. I basically ate very little and substituted shakes for meals. I then met the most wonderful man in the world, who is very lucky to be able to eat whatever, whenever. Being raised by an Italian mother the one thing you never do is refuse food that would be an insult. I don’t care if you’re not hungry…eat something anyway! Since I can’t be rude, I would go out to eat with him, we would even drive an hour away to get the best ice cream.
We got married and slowly over the next 11 years I gained 100 pounds. Last year while we were sitting in my doctors office we saw Michael Thurmond’s 6 Week Body Make Over, normally we always joke about the people on the weight loss infomercials, but my husband turned to me and said “You know this makes sense.” I filed the information away in my brain (which for me only means that I would forget it as soon as the program was over.)
A couple of weeks later I had to see a cardiologist for chest pains. I got on the scale (and I was wearing the lightest clothing I owned) looked down and said, “I don’t weigh that much.” After a brief conversation on how their scale must be wrong they managed to convince me, yes that was all me. I weighed twice as much as my husband, I couldn’t have been that fat!
I went home and frantically searched for the infomercial again because I had forgotten the name, luckily I found it. I told my husband I was going to give it a try the only thing I had to lose was the weight. My kit arrived; I studied my book, and started the next day. The first week I lost 16 pounds! By week two I was down 22 pounds. This was unbelievable after my first 2 weeks I was able to get off the blood pressure medications that I had been taking for 10 years. By the time I finished the first 6 weeks I had lost 40 pounds, and the only thing I did in those 6 weeks was eat!!
31 weeks later I hit my goal of 100 pounds, I lost 6 dress sizes and 105 inches all over my body. I finally looked the way I always thought I did. The most amazing thing through this transformation has been that everyone I know will look at a picture of me before and tell me they can’t remember me ever looking that way. Even my husband, who has been my biggest supporter told me never noticed how heavy I really was.
This plan has changed my life, I’m healthier, happier and I know what to do in order to keep the weight off. I guess I’d better be careful what I say about people the next time I see a weight loss infomercial!
    :D

This plan appealed to me too simply because it made sense. It works, it's easy, and lots of us are so successful on it. Just look at the avitars of these message posters.
Congratulations on your new life and new health.

I am starting the plan tomorrow. Finally something I truely believe in and from all the great stories I know I can do it. I need to lose about 170 pounds. Gosh I can't believe I let myself get this big. I don't even want to take a before picture but I know I will be thankful in the end.

Thank you all for your inspiring stories

    Sandjumper,
Wow, how exciting!!! Ordered my kit about 3 days ago, can't wait to start. Congrats to you! What an inspiration. Does the weight come off that fast?? Will be going to the beach this summer, maybe I can wear a smaller suit? Wish my kit would get here:)
