For as long as I can remember I've had problems with my weight. Even as a child, I remember having to wear "husky" jeans, and being limited in what clothes I could wear. I was always the largest amongst my friends, and shopping was a nightmare. In high school, I went on Weight Watchers and lost weight, but as soon as I went off the "diet", I gained all the weight I had lost and then some. As years went on, my problems with weight only escalated, and at my heaviest I weighted 210lbs, and was a size 20. I started a low carb and low fat diet and worked with a trainer. I lost about 30lbs, but before long, the diet was out the window and the gym membership expired.

I was watching Extreme Makeover and saw Michael Thurmond, and loved his concepts. I sat there thinking I would just love to workout with him, and sure wished he had a program. Well months later, I was at the beach with my niece, and woke up in the middle of the night with the tv on. There it was-Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover-the program that I had wished for. I couldn't believe it. The next week I purchased it. I started the program in Aug ‘04 at 186lbs. and enrolled in NBU. Things were going well until life threw a curve ball, and I reverted back to what I'd always done, and used food to deal with emotions. And from there it spiraled down. I gained all but 6 lbs back that I had lost. And I was miserable. I was so tired of the life I was living. I had enough. It finally hit home that in life that there are so many things that we have no control over, but the one thing that we do have control over is how we take care of ourselves. In Jan 2005 I decide no more! No more thinking that I was destined to be fat. No more using food to fill voids, cover pain, fill loneliness, drown depression. This was it. I deserved more. I did not have to live this way anymore. It was up to me, and I did have a choice. I came to the boards and saw so many successful people and told myself if they could do this so could I. I restarted with a clear mind, that nothing was going to stop me this time, that the only thing that could was me, and I wouldn't let that happen. From that day forward, my outlook changed. I started believing in myself and knew that life was about to make a change for the better. I read my black book, shopped for and prepared all my meals, did cardio 4-5 days a week and sculpting at least twice a week. I always had on plan food ready by the bulk loads. Not having food available was not going to be an excuse! I went from being a "take out queen" to a "Betty Crocker". I would search the recipe forum for new things to try and made a homemade cookbook from things that interested me. I was really enjoying this new life. Before I knew it, the 1st set of 6 weeks were up and 22lbs were gone. Changes were definitely taking place, and I was loving this new lifestyle and what it was doing for me. In the beginning, my goal weight was 135lbs and to be a size 10. My 2nd set of 6 weeks were gone in no time, and so was another 15lbs. By week 15, I was at goal!!!! I just couldn't believe how fast things were coming off and that I had no plateaus. 45lbs and 40.5inches gone in 15 short weeks. They say time flies when you're having fun, and I was having the time of my life. I might add, that my goal of being a size 10 was well surpassed. I was totally blown away to find myself sporting a pair of size 4 Tommy jeans. Sure never would have thought it would happen. To go from a size 20 to a size 4 still amazes me everyday.

After getting to my goal weight, I wanted a cushion for Living Lean. I am really sodium sensitive due to the fact that I'm allergic to iodine, and any bit of salt causes me to retain fluid to the extreme. I stuck with POP for 3 more weeks and lost an additional 6lbs. I was at 129lbs and felt really comfortable with myself. I've been LL for more than 5 months now. For the most part, I've done really well. Sure I've put on a few pounds here and there, but I was able to go back to the basics and get them off. Living Lean is like trial and error and finding what works for you. One thing I do know is that I never want to go back to were I was.

You know, in the beginning of my story I talked about losing 50lbs, in such a short time, and some may think that's great that I lost all of that weight, but you know, not only did I lose weight, I gained so much. I got me back!!! I'm no longer that depressed, sad, lonely, angry at the world person that I once was because I was overweight. I'm now a healthy, happy, energetic, confident young lady who is high on life. When people see my before pictures, they say that I looked so sad, and I respond with "I was". Just take a look at my pictures, sure my body has changed a lot, but look at the face. It's right there. Before I was miserable, now I have a spirit that soars and it shows, and it's all because of this program. This program truly changes lives. Just take a look at different profiles. There have been so many successful people that have reached their goals, and YOU can to! Getting to goal CAN happen!!! You CAN have that body you've always dreamed of. You CAN have energy to do all the things you want to do. You CAN have self confidence. You CAN be healthy. You CAN have and be anything you want to be. Dreams really do come true, it happened for me and it CAN happen for you.

    Good morning, Natalie!!!

What a story! I remember when I looked at your before pictures the first time and could not believe that was really the beautiful YOU I met in CA.
Congratulations on your success and does this mean you are going to be the November success story?????? If so, it is certainly well-deserved!! I am so proud OF you and so proud to have had the chance to meet you in person. You and your story are remarkable, and should be a beacon to anyone who is out there struggling with the weight and its associative ailments, including unhappiness and lonliness!! You have proven that we do NOT have to be trapped inside a fat body. You ARE a champion!!!! Liz

    Natalie,

It was good to read your SS. I have about as much to lose as you did in the beginning...although I will say that My goal weight is a little lower than yours is....I'm hoping I look that good at your goal weight.

I have for the last 12 weeks let my exercising and cardio go due to much to do.....but, have determined to be faithful at it again. (especially since I've joined NBU again)

I hope to be down to my goal weight by February 1st! that would be 81# in 6 months. At the rate I'm going....I should be there.

your story has inspired me even more...although I will say this program works so well...I have turned into a Michael Thurmond evangelist!

Thanks for sharing your story...it's awesome and I know you feel wonderful!!! Wish I could have met you too

Here's to all of us and our success!
