I really started gaining weight during my late 20s. I've never been a good cook, so fast food, pizza and no exercise were the staples of my lifestyle. I did manage to lose 40 lbs back in 1995, but promptly gained that back and more. The highest I weighed was 235 lbs.

Now I've tried different "diets" before. One I recently tried was Nutrisystem. That lasted only a month. Come on, it just never appealed to me to have all my meals in boxes in the cupboard. Fresh was not a word to associate with that food. Between the sodium and the awful taste, I just couldn't continue. So I threw out all of the product and went back to my fast food.

In January 2004 I was watching HSN and happened to see Michael Thurmond's program. It made complete sense to me so I ordered it. A week later I received it, watched the tape and put together my book. I wasn't mentally ready to start. During January 2004 I was responsible for the office physical move of my company from 2 buildings into one, plus my husband was going in and out of the hospital for major surgery. So I promptly put all the 6WBMO information away in a closet.

In June of 2004 as I was cleaning out my closet, I found the "little black book." I was ready. I had decided that I was tired of wearing all my shirts untucked and baggy (making me look even bigger). I was tired of size 22 clothes. I was tired of tying my shoes and then when I straightened up, I was out of breath. Forget stairs - huff, huff... I was tired of ordering all of my clothes online. I hadn't seen the inside of a mall in years. Between the stores not having my size and the sales staff treating you like you had a disease, I just never went. I guess I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired!

So I dusted off the book, went off to the grocery store and started my life on 6/21/04 at 231 lbs.

My first attempt at preparing all my foods took 5 hours. Granted, I'm not a cook. But I cooked all my food, portioned it out and ziplocked it all so I had 2 weeks worth of meals ready. I learned from the chat forum that this was the best plan. I never had an excuse. I always had food ready. And I made sure I drank between 150 - 200 oz of water a day. Boy was that different. I was an at least 2 liter a day Diet Coke drinker. Went cold turkey - best thing I ever did. Sure, the first week I went through caffeine withdrawals, but that lasted only a few days. My small cooler was never from my side. I didn't care if I was only planning on being away from home an hour - I took my cooler with the next meal and bottled water with me. It was hard for me at first to eat all the food I was supposed to - it would be time to eat again and I still felt full. But I ate it anyway. I knew my way had made me fat, so I followed the plan 100%. I was POP all the way until I made goal on January 10, 2005. NO EXCUSES! My meal prep now only takes me around an hour.

I had a treadmill that was collecting dust in the basement. I used the treadmill between 3-4 times a week for 45-60 minutes. My heart rate that I was to maintain was 114. So I never "knocked" myself out with exercise.

My first week I lost 13 lbs and 18.25" inches. I was hooked. I got on the forum and found Associate BMOS Annie's website. That helped me to see progress and helped me to stay POP. As I read the 100 reasons to lose weight, boy did that hit home! I remember dreading flying on an airplane with the seats too small (or me too big!), I remember the bruises on my hips I had from the seat at the hockey game. Once when a goal was scored I jumped up to celebrate - thought I was taking the seat plus the whole row with me. UGH! Little things now are a reality - I can cross my legs, my legs don't rub together anymore - you know, important things!

Every Monday I would weigh myself (I would only do this once a week). I would also take my measurements and take pictures every Monday. A front shot, a side shot and the dreaded back shot. I'm so glad I did this. Because if you ever get discouraged, look at your beginning pictures. You'll never go back! If you ever get tempted to cheat - look at your beginning pictures!

I lost 29 lbs and 32.5" in the first 6 weeks on the program (needless to say I wasn't returning the program!!). I entered "Onederland" in my 8th week - a place I hadn't been to in a LONG time. By week 12 I was down 45 lbs and 49.75" and was at 186 lbs. Week 18 I had lost 62 lbs and 70.25". By week 24 I was at 152 lbs - 79 lbs down and 85.25" off! In my 29th week, I had lost 91 lbs, 94.5" and was at 140 lbs!! I was at GOAL! I lost 91 lbs in 6.5 months!! It still amazes me! I never stalled, was never hungry and I never was exhausted from exercise.

I've been "living lean" for 3 months. I'm currently at 135 lbs (down 96 lbs from start). My waist went from 40.5" to 24.25", hips from 52" to 36" and thighs from 32" to 19". A total of 99.75" from start to finish! I went from a size 22 to a size 6/8. It is still amazing to me that I can now shop at the mall and actually have a selection to pick from!

When I shop at the grocery store now, I shop the perimeter of the store. Produce, meat and water. I never wander into the middle aisles now - only if I'm out of Ms. Dash! I don't buy packaged foods ever. Such a change from when I only bought ice cream, pre-packaged food and canned stuff.

I can't believe the success I've had with this program! It was truly the easiest thing I've ever done. Never hungry, never bored with the food I was eating. I only had one "bump", but PM'd BMOS Dolores and with her help I got back to full steam ahead (had to quit eating bananas & rice). I still have to pinch myself - still hard to believe I now wear a size 6/8 instead of a 22. I look at the label and say "That won't fit" and sometimes it is too big!

Thank you Michael Thurmond for your wonderful plan!!! Thank you for all your help and for this forum. Thanks to all the ladies on the 100% thread. You definitely helped me stay POP and committed.

At the beginning of every year I would say "By my birthday I'll lose X amount of weight" and never did! My birthday would roll around and I'd still be obese (gosh I hate that word!). My birthday is in May and this is the first birthday after all those years that I don't have to say that anymore! I'm at goal, living lean and LOVING IT!

Just remember - if you work this plan, it will work for you! Never give up, never give in and always believe in yourself. YOU CAN DO IT!!

    Dallie,

    Your success is awesome!!

Quick question for you: what foods did you eat cold, from your cooler? I'm a student and don't have access to a microwave on campus, and I find that those are the times when I'm not POP.

If anyone had any suggestions I'd really appreciate them!

    TIA

Deana, thanks for coming back and sharing your story. It is a great inspiration.
It's good to see a few people posting back here once they reach goal to cheer the rest of us on. You had great success in a relatively short time.
I'm just starting my 3rd week today so I have a long way to go, but you have been an encouragement to me to be patient and let this program do its thing!
    Thanks!

Thank you so much for your testimonial! I really needed to heat that. This week has been bad for me and I have fallen off of the wagon. I've lost 8lbs so far and I am afraid to get on the scale b/c I may have gained it all back. But the one thing I know about this program is that it does work!! So I haven't given up yet. There are so many people that have had much success with this program and I want to be one of them encouraging someone else. Thanks again for the testimony.

    Dallie,

That is incredible . . .you're incredible! You are an example for us all. It must take a tremendous restraint and motivation to stay POP for the duration. You should be very proud of your accomplishments. By the way, you didn't list your hieght. How tall are you?

Kristin - thanks for your reply. As far as cardio, I walk my dog about 1 mile twice a day - once when I get up and once when I get home from work. Other than that I used my treadmill 3-4 times a week for about 45-60 mins. That's all the cardio I've done. On LL I'm trying to add food back in slowly, but am still eating 5-6 times a day & watching portion control.

Four152511 - thanks! Good luck on your journey!

Prosechild - I'd fix turkey burgers, turkey sausage or just sliced turkey breast. I'd eat that cold along with my salad or depending on the meal, with a carb and veggies.

Suzcruz - Thank! 15 lbs is great in just two weeks. Keep it up!!!

determinedagain - dust yourself off and get started again!! If I ever though about eating off plan, I'd get a mental picture of my before pic of me in my underwear from the rear! UGH!! Then I wouldn't want to eat off plan. Good luck, you CAN do it!

cbutler - thanks for your post. You're getting close to Onederland!! You'll be there before you know it!

Aly - You've made it to Onederland!!! Congratulations! 26 lbs gone forever. Wasn't it great to get on that scale and know you weren't in the 200s anymore!!!

Patty - thanks for your post - it looks like you've been consistently losing weight! Congrat to you!

Marcie - you're on the brink of Onederland!!! Yeah for you!!

Judy - I just knew that my way of eating before plan was making me fat - so staying POP was the only way for me to do it. I'm 5'6".

Miss Jean and Sue - you two ladies helped in keeping me POP with all your support on the 100% thread. So thank YOU both for your help!!!!

    Dallie,

To weigh in and not see a "2" as my first number was amazing. I admit I got emotional. I am looking forward to going shopping...I mean really shopping when I have reached goal. No more catalogues or ordering on line. I will need a pair of jeans in the mean time, probably in two weeks or I'm going to embarass myself in public.

Care to share a shopping experience?!

Deana - Congrats to you! WOW
Did you do the bands at all, you didn't mention. I was wondering how much extra skin is hanging around. You look great in your pictures. I haven't started the bands yet just doing the treadmill right now. I'm sure may people wonder but never ask, I hope it's ok that I did.

Thanks in advance if you respond.

Wow Deana, you look wonderful! Reading your story was like reading my own about being OBESE (ugh)! I told myself the exact same thing each year too, that I'd lose the weight by my birthday. Even though I still have a bit more weight to lose, I went from a size 18 to 8. I even witnessed my doctor remove the word "obese" from my medical chart - and he wrote "now a size 8!" on the chart too. You are truly a great inspiration. Thanks. Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY this year! You deserve it.

Hello, that was amazing of what you have done! Im very, very impress. I have a question.....Im I ever going to be able to eat cake? I plan to stick with the program for as much as I have to, to loose all the pounds I need to, but on September is my niece's quinceanera and I really want to eat cake. Is it going to be a problem if I eat just a little, little piece?
