I started this journey to a new healthy lifestyle on July 14, 2002. I weighed in at 272 pounds which really shocked me. See I had been heavy all of my life, even as a child. But I lived in denial (or avoidance) most of the time. When I was younger, I hated reportcard time ; not because of my grades but because I would have to be weighed and all of the children in my small school would compare their weights. It was horrible and I always made up excuses for my higher than normal number. My denial did not get better as I aged, in fact it got worse! I knew exactly which doctor I could visit (or clinic) that would not weigh me....letting me stay in denial even longer. I avoided the cameras, saying that I would rather take the "right picture" than be in them. Many pictures that showed me ....mysteriously disappeared! I did not want to be reminded that I was that heavy, so I avoided them. Yes, I had tried to control my wieght. I think I started dieting (or as I now refer to it as killing off my metabolism) in 6th or 7th grade. I was able to drop pounds on other programs ... but none had lasting effects. I would always gain the weight back and then some! After the birth of my last child, I decided I was going to excercise and finally drop all that weight. I starting walking at a very fast speed on my tredmill for an hour at a time. I walked nearly everyday for six months (I kept a excercise log). I was red faced and sweaty after every session. I was eating well and breastfeeding my son. And guess whay? After six months I had lost 2 pounds! No joke, only two pounds after all that hard, hard work. During that time, I had also had troubles with my tredmill kicking off while I was walking. I called out the service man and after finding nothing really wrong with it, he tried as nicely as he could to tell me that the machine had a weight limit of 250 pounds and was probably kicking off becuase of my weight. I was mortified and disgusted at the same time. How in the world was I suppose to take off this weight when I couldn't even excercise, or when I did, nothing happened. So I threw up my hands and decided to give up . I was destined to be fat forever! I gave away any clothes that were smaller than a size 24 and I was just going to live my life fat. But I was still down and sad with myself. I was in good health, but knew that that may not last. I had two little boys and was the only parent home 70% of the time. I had to have good health and energy to keep up with them. I also was worried about them being teased because I was so overweight! So I started to research weight loss plans on the internet. Through lost of luck I found the chat forum for Micheal Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover. The program looked good. I watched many of the people drop lots of weight. I liked the idea that not all people lose weight the sameway. That our bodies are all different and thus we have to eat and excercise differently. I also liked the idea of excercissing less....Goodness knows I had tried excercising more! But the clincher was that it came with a money back guarantee. I didn't think it would really work and decided that when I failed again I could easily get my money back. So I ordered the program. In the first week I lost 9.5 pounds..to my shock....and by the end of the first six weeks I had lost 27.5 pounds. By the end of the 12th week I had lost 55 pounds and by my 9 month anniversary I had lost 110 pounds. This program is amazing! I have had a huge amount of energy! My skin, hair and nails are in awesome shape . I am smiling a whole lot. And gues what? I am in a lot more pitures now that before. I guess I could say that I am in denial no longer! I don't have to avoid the doctors offices that weigh me, I don't have to avoid the smaller clothes section at stores and I do not have to avoid the camera anymore either. Thank-you to Micheal Thurmond for bring this wonderful program to my life. It has definetaly been a life changing event! I would also like to thank all of the wonderful peopel who I have met on these forums. Their support have ment the world to me and have made my success possible! See You Lighter Dari

Hi Dari..
Well success loves company, and I've found within this program, much welcome company! I'm glad to have met you this year at the infomercial shoot, and really appreciate your story, and that you would share it with all of us.
I can only wish you the best of continued success, health and happiness going forward. And, I sincerely hope we get to meet again, say in a year or so ;).
Congrats again kiddo...!

Dari, you have done so well for yourself and for your family too. Now you are helping others too, to find some hope and success through your testimony.
Isn't it just so amazing that before this program you had dieted so hard and exercised so hard and for no result? You really prove that a person can eat more and exercise less and still lose weight.
I had the pleasure of meeting you in person a couple of weeks ago--and you're right. You look great. You skin, hair, and nails are in great shape. You were smiling. And you even posed for pictures. How's that for the person who had been in denial always behind the camera? (By the way, I had been in the same position--behind the camera. Now I ask people to use my camera to take pictures of me with my friends!)
One sadness I have is that when I have gone back through my family pictures over the years, I was so huge. I was huge when my kids were born. I was huge when my kids were toddlers. I was huge through their preschool, elementary school, and high school. It hurts to think of the example I was setting and the embarassment I caused for all those years. Well, that's not the case anymore for me or for you. I only wish I had found out about this program earlier in my life, as you have, so that I could have won the battle so much earlier.
Dari, big hugs and CONGRATULATIONS!
Eric

I'd like to say CONGRATUALTIONS as well Dari!
I have "seen" you since you first started the program. I was on the fading end of the 6wbmo at that point. Unfortunatly for me, I had a goal that only stretched until June of 2002. BIG Mistake! I made the goal with flying colors, however, so I know I can do it again. I didn't realize it at the time, but my far reaching goal was never solid in my mind. It is now, though! :)
I cannot wait to see you on the infomercial...they picked a wonderful candidate. :)
I am so proud of you!!!!!!

Dari, You're GORGEOUS, you rock!
I have seen you around on the boards since I first came to this sight and you have been a real inspiration to many of us. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story and also for going to LA and being in the infomercial because its through stories like yours that people like me, can change their life. We really appreciate it!
I loved reading your story because I can really empathise. I'll never forget the embarrassment of being weighed in front of the class in year five...my teacher, said 'that cant be right, thats what _I_ weigh, better weigh you again'. It came out to be a kilo heavier (cos Im australian and we work in kilograms not pounds). I was so embarrassed and have never quite got over that actually! I was only 11 years old!
Anyways, CHEERS on your great success! You look fabulous and shining and HAPPY! Great job!

Dair,
WTG!! What an amazing story from an amazing person. You're a wonderful example of the premise of this program - eating more and especially exercising less!! You'd never know that you've lost that much weight to see you in person. Thanks for posting so that other can see the vision through you!

Dari,
You are one amazing woman! I'm so happy we met and shared so much time together - in this forum and in person.
Can't wait to see pictures of you from Sunday! I'm sure you looked awesome, even though I thought all your clothes were way too big - I'm sure they had to pin everything up a couple inches.
thank you for all your support the last year, for letting me vent to you and sharing all that you have and especially being there for the extra boost of encouragement that we all need from time to time.
You shine this month and every month, time to make your sash and wear your crown! See you on the run way, strutting your stuff, (ok, maybe the overpass - getting in your cardio)- LOL!!!
to you, much success and happiness!!!
hugs, babs

Dari--Congratulations on your success. I had a great time in LA talking with you at the hot tub. You have such a warm spirit, and I'm sure the kids you teach feel it every day.
Your story is truly inspirational! I'm so glad that I got to meet you in person. That infomercial shoot was a wonderful gift for me. I kept wondering why I was there among all of you incredible people.
You are a beautiful person, and now I bet you feel even more beautiful when you see yourself in those photos. Isn't it great to actually not try to hide behind the other people in the pictures>
You are a great example of how this program works.
Best wishes again, Miss November!!!
Hugs,

It means so much to me to be chosen as the quote of the month. Many times (tough times) when I was struggling to stay strong on my plan...I would come to the forum and read the success stories...even past success stories. They motivated me so much to hang tough and that is what I hope I can do for others out there. :)
Eric- First of all- thank-you for the tech advice the other night....I am still waiting to hear back from the company....and thank-you for the picts you sent me. It was fun to be able to show hubby what I looked like all dolled up:D And boy are you flying through those avitaras ! Great job|!
Dan- I think I am in the best company around! You have been soooo supportive with always the right thing to say. Thank-you for always being there for all of us! BTW- Happy late birthday!
Annie- Thank-you so much! One thing I didn't mention in my testimonial is that it was your web site that I found first and linked up to these forums. Your journal and site was also another place I would visit when I was feeling the need for some motivation. So I can not thank-you enough for all that you have done for me and others on this board. You have helped lead us to a healthier and happier life! HUGS!
Kirby- Congrats on the 10 pounds. It is funny about goals. I set small goals right off the bat. I really wanted an Italian Charm braclett and no amount of hinting to the family was getting me one....so when I lost 30 pounds I got the braclet and 3 charms... then for every 10 pounds I got to get another charm. There were many times that I stayed focus just so I could get the next charm that I wanted. (I also wear it on my right arm...which is the arm I eat with so it is a reminder of how hard I have worked to attain my goals) soooo I would have to say...set specific goals and reward yourselff.... you are worth it!
Mrs. kofph- I am glad that I have been and inspiration to you and others! And I was thrilled to get the opportunity to go to LA for the infomercial shoot! I can not believe that your teacher said that to you! I would have crawled in a whole....and to say that to an 11 year old girl...how insensitive of the teacher! Don't you just wish that you could go back and show people like that what you are doing now ...just to let them know how successful you are! Keep up the hard work!
chasebred- you are quite the bombshell yourself. 85 pounds is awesome! You are right- this program is a lifesaver and it does feel good to live life now! Keep up all the hard work!
atvgirl- Congrats on your 50 pound loss! But where is your after picts....post one girl so you can show everyone out here what a wonderful accomplishment you have attained! Keep up the hard work!
Rita- You are right about being on this program and not looking like you have lost alot of weight. I get that all time from friends. There mouths drop open when I tell them how much I have lost. "But you don't have saggy skin...you aren't all sucked up" they say to me. I think it is because this program is so healthy for our bodies. I had fun getting to know you even though we spent the first 45 minutes not even talking....Rita and I were on the same shuttle from the airport....but we didn't know each other so we didn't talk...LOL Let's keep the vision going!
cont to the next post............

Sally- I was so pleased to meet you. Before the infomercial...I am not sure that I had seen you on the boards! It was such a treat to get to know you and the hot tub was a blast. You are too funny! Keep smiling and best wishes to your family! COngrats on the 70 pound avitar! You looook marvelous!
Crystal- First of all NICE aAVITAR!!!! I want one like that(Can I feel it,;) :D ) I too had a wonderful time getting to know you while in LA> You and your husband are wonderful people! As I have told crystal personally- I remember when she first started the program. She was so enthusiastic and it was energizing to read her posts! Than-you for bringing so much joy and inspiration into so many peoples lives! Love you!
Babbles-Have sash will walk!!!!LOL I can't put into words all that you have done to help me stay motivated through out the past year. Our Mission I'm Possible Thread as been alife line many times... so thank-you for being a part of that! I had a wonderful time getting to know you (even better) and also meeting your husband! I couldn't think of better people to stand in the ocean with:eek: :D -just don't let the waves get us!!!! The pict that dolores put up is from the photo shoot on Sunday at the testional shoot. Yes they did have to pin the blue dress but just in the waist. But I love that dress....mainly because it is a size 10~~~~ Once agian Thank-you so much for your support! Hugs back at you!
And finally Dee- Words can not begin to explain what this websight and you have done for me. I thank-you for all of the helpful advice that you have given not only directly to me but to others which in turn I read and learned soooo much. OUr sculpting thread gave me the courage to really branch out and try the free wieghts again and feel so successful! I think you work way to hard....and we appreciate all you do for us. You are wonderful:'( And I am starting to get teary eyed so I will have to stop now...but just know that you have touched my life in a wonderful, postive way! Thank-you so much!
Once again thank-you to all of you! The support on this forum is so awe inspirring! I love you all!
See You Lighter dari
