There is so much to say about this program that I just don’t know where to begin. Like most of you, I’ve tried every diet in the world before this plan, many times losing serious amounts of weight only to gain it all back and then some. I never lacked the commitment to those diets, I would suffer through them and do whatever unhealthy things they wanted me to do just so I could struggle to lose weight at a slow pace. The problem was that those diets never committed to me. I used to think that I failed at diets over and over and over and that I was just destined to fail again. I would lose a few pounds and then get frustrated and put it back on. I had personal trainers and nutritionists and doctors telling me what to do – and I listened to them, yet I NEVER EVER hit my goals, or even came close. Now I have learned that those diets failed ME! They weren’t sustainable life changes; they didn’t give me the skills I needed to really make positive changes in my life. And that’s what I’ve done with the help of the 6WBMO; I’ve changed my life in a very positive way. I PREFER to eat healthy foods instead of unhealthy junk, I have become an active person instead of a sedentary one. I used to just look at being fat as who I was; now I realize who I can be.
I always used to look for reasons that any diet plan wouldn’t work, I’d find reasons not to even start. I would say to myself “I’m too busy” or “I’m under too much stress” or I’m too depressed, and I need food for comfort” or “I’m not that fat, so I don’t need to start until after…” or “I’ll just cut down on the (carbs or meat or fat depending on which plan I was in to last) for a while”. I always wanted the quick fix; I never looked at any diet as a lifestyle change. I think that the biggest benefit of doing this plan it how it has helped me change my whole outlook on food. It used to be food was a source of comfort, joy, and security - Now it’s a source of energy, and an occasional treat.
I won’t kid you; at times this was hard work. It was hard to stay on plan when everyone around you is eating really fattening food. It was hard to look at this in the beginning and realize that I am making these changes for the rest of my life (though it did become easy, very quickly). It was hard to say to myself that I am going to give up many of the very things that I thought made me feel so happy – Not just foods, but activities like sitting in front of the TV instead of being outside and active. Now looking back, I realize just how easy it is, and I realize how much happier I am when I don’t let those things control me. I’m really proud of what I’ve done. I’m proud that I’ve lost so much weight, but I am more proud of the example I’m setting for my son.
When I got this program and pulled it out my wife thought I was crazy for ordering some diet off of an infomercial. I said I was going to give it a try, and I saw the look in her eyes that said “it’ll never work”. That was September 24th, 2002. There have only been a few days in my life that have had such a dramatic effect on my life – My wedding and the day my son was born are really the only ones that have had a bigger effect on my life. Since I started the plan, I’ve lost a lot of weight and inches, and put on serious muscle. I went from a size 48 pant to a size 34 – From a size 54 portly suit to a 44 Athletic cut. People can’t stop commenting on the amazing job I’ve done. For the first time in my life I look at myself in the mirror and really feel that I look good. Now I’m training for a 150 mile charity bike ride that will be on the one year anniversary of my starting the 6WBMO. I never ever thought that I could bike 150 miles, but now I know that it is not only possible, but it will happen!

I just want to tell you I almost cried reading this! Your story hit home with me and has given me the encouragement and determination to go on and get to my goal! Thank you for sharing your heart and your success story, you really are a success! You help those of us who are still a ways off from our goals and see that it can be done!
I also thought that I was a diet failure, you are right that it was the diets failing us! Thank you for that honest perspective!
I can't wait to see myself where you are! You have done a great job! Keep it up, you are such an inspiration for so many others!

Dang, Maj! You're a stone fox now!!! Too bad we're both married .... ;)
When I think back to all those diets and programs I was on before, the only goal was to lose the weight, so it all came back on. I figure Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem or whatever knew they had us as repeat customers if we gained it back.
I'm in my third week and am already starting to feel the effects that you're talking about. I really feel like I COULD eat this way forever.

    Thanks for the compliments everyone!
    Nice new Avatar Dan!
I'm still a little embarrased to tell people that this is a diet from an infomercial! But that has mostly worn off. My wife was actually a little mad at me when she first saw it... She was mad that I wasted our money on some gimmick especially without talking to her first. She was kind of right, the thing is I'm sure she would have talked me out of buying the program if I discussed it with her... why am I sure of that? Because she told me so! Now she is thrilled I did and agrees that its the best plan out there, and would be a bargain at twice the price.

    Mike...
Similar story here...I had caught the last 5 mins of an infomercial, and just got to write down the phone number. I ordered the program a day or so later. My wife was steamed, but I was desperate!
So, now, she's my main champion. She can't wait to get into the kitchen on Sunday to prepare my food for me. It's much easier, when you have a partner that helps you get there, like you too!

Maj - Thanks for posting your story.
We need stories like yours, Dan's and Eric's to help motivate the men and let them know that this program and forums are not just for women, tho we tend to dominate it.
And it does make it so real when you look at the pics and see the transformation to the totally "hot" men you've become.
Hey, Dee - I just got a great idea. How about we make a pinup calendar for 2004...The Men of the 6WBMO program - featuring Michael (Mag), Eric, Dan in various poses! They can have 4 months each, until we get some other successful men. I'll take a dozen copies! And Annie, Tenderpaw and I have to be there for the camera shoots! Better than the fireman calendar! LOL :D

Your story sounded so much like mine... except it was my husband who found the infomercial while we were on vacation in Florida and told me about it. I was VERY skeptical because it sounded like Body for Life to me... and I had already tried (and failed) at that. And I agree that a supportive spouse helps a lot!
One of the (many) HUGE positive things about this program is the emphasis on REAL food (not bars and shakes and stuff). I'm glad so many of you are talking about this as a change in lifestyle. That's what it feels like to me too... and that's the only way to make something work. I actually haven't figured out how to tell people what I'm doing... I don't want to say "I'm on a diet" because that's not what this is.... but unless they really want the full story, I haven't figured out the short way to describe this to them.
I only hope that I can be half as successful as you. Thanks for the inspiration!

Mike, Eric...do you guys feel, like I do, that suddenly we're being treated as objects :D????
Gee, how do we handle that ;).
Paula..the 6WBMO is the REAL DEAL. It is a life style change, and something we can all live on for the rest of our lives. Some of the "PDH" BMOS's here have been on this program for years too! Even Michael Thurmond, has been on this for, basically, a "lifetime" .

    Heck,
I'll be an object anyday. If they fly me out to LA, I'll pose in a thong if they want :)
It sure is better to be an object of desire than an object of ridicule.
