I first thought of myself being fat around the age of 11. I got
chubby and kids started to make fun of me in school.
The summer after 6th grade I decided that I needed to do something about it. At that age I didn't even know about how to be on a diet. I just thought that food made me fat, so eating less food would make me skinny. Most days I wouldn't eat anything,
and some days just a salad. I did it till I could wear a size 6. I had
this crazy thought that, "skinny people can eat whatever they want, so once I get skinny... so can I." Well my weight loss didn't last long because I started eating whatever I wanted and the weight came back plus more. I basically ruined my metabolism at an early age. And the thought of eating less carried over with me into adulthood. The way I maintained my weight, was on and
off days of eating food. If I thought I was gaining, I would eat less or nothing at all, then I would continue eating. I also tried several other things including pills, the Atkins diet, slim fast, and the grape fruit diet, but nothing worked. I even thought there was some magic pill I could take that would zap away the weight and I was determined to find it.
My weight fluctuated between 160 and 180 and I was at about 190 or so before I got pregnant with my only child. I remember thinking... now I can finally eat what I want and not be worried about gaining weight. So many people kept telling me that I should eat for 2. So I did and then paid for it. I weighed 275 in 1999 when I was 9 months pregnant and I think I lost about 30 or so pounds, but then slowly gained it back. I just gave up. I thought I was doomed to being fat forever. I did try a few things like exercising everyday for 2 hours, but when I didn't see immediate results... I would give up. When I weighed 190 I remember thinking how big I was... then when I got to 270, 190 didn't seem as big anymore. It's funny how people can be in such denial about things... I know I was. I weighed 262 before I started the 6-Week Body Makeover and I didn't think I was that big most days. Inside I secretly knew, but I hated to listen to that voice. I even stopped looking in the mirror when I got ready for work. I had to have something sweet with almost every meal. I always made sure that I was completely full... even stuffed. I ate out all the time, at fast food places, restaurants, and all you can eat places. I never drank water and if I did it was at a restaurant so I could save money on my meal.
I was so lost and didn't know what to do or how to go about losing the weight. I prayed to God that if there was some easy way to lose weight, then let it happen. I fell asleep with the TV on (something I never do) and I woke up in the middle of the night (also, something I never do) and heard Michael Thurmond's voice. I had been listening to it in my sleep and when I woke up I heard all about eating food to lose weight and listened to all the success stories. To me it was expensive, but when I saw that I could make payments I knew I could do it. I felt like I would be investing this money into myself and I thought for sure this was the best way to do it.
I bought the plan at the end of May 2002, got it on June 10th, and started on June 11th. It's been the best decision I've ever made for myself. This has also been so strange for me... but good. People call me "slim", "skinny", or "little". It feels great since I've never ever in my entire life been told that. It's still me, but I feel like a different person... a better one. I have lost 107 pounds and my life is so much easier. I can breathe!! I want to exercise!! I used to say I loved outdoor activities, but now I really enjoy them. I love skating, bicycling, walking, jogging, and swimming. I even have a fast metabolism! Now I can say that I have fallen out of love with food. It's just food. My cravings have changed and I've gotten through this with self-discipline and control. This is a new way of life for me and I never want to go back to the bad eating habits that I had before. I plan on sticking to this. My current weight is 155 and I'm very happy! My life has gotten so better as well.
I never thought I could reach my goals and now I know it's possible. I even went back to school and I'm pursing a degree in Education. With my new self-confidence and self-esteem, I know I can do it. I also have been able to be more active with my 4 year old. I used to never be able to keep up with her and now at times she can't keep up with me! I even go down slides at the park with her, skate, and just run around. She loves her new
    mommy too!

You look GREAT!! This is the type of success story that I need to become motivated to get the weight off and keep it off. You are obviously motivated to living a healthy and happy life and since we are in control of our own destinies, you have proved that your life is in YOUR hands and from here, life is a cinch!!
    Stay strong and IN CONTROL!!

You are BEAUTIFUL!!! This is such an inspiration to us all. You were DETERMINED and it certainly paid off.
You truly look great and I think I can speak on behalf of everybody on this board in telling you that we are so proud of you. You've done well and your discipline is to be commended.
If anyone had an ounce of discouragement, it should be lifted after reading your story.
    Thanks, and congratulations.

P.S. BubbaE, you're looking good too. The 36 lbs. makes a noticeable difference. Congratulations to you too.
