Dear Prospective Students:
It is my honor to inform you that you have been accepted to New Body University. We are delighted to find so many qualified applicants. As a student at NBU, you will find fine living accommodations, experienced advisors, and friends from around the world. But more importantly you’ll be receiving a first rate education. Regardless of your degree track (6WBMO or SMART), you’ll learn all you need to know to make this life style change a permanent one.
We have high academic standards and we expect all our students to attend class (post often), participate in classroom projects and assignments (challenges), and most importantly maintain excellent grade point averages (earn your credits). We also require that our staff attend continuing education classes (stay on plan too) to ensure that we always have the best and the brightest. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week.
Your Resident Advisor, funjewelz will be here shortly. RUSH week begins October 27th and you will begin earning your credits on that day. On behalf of the faculty and staff of NBU, I welcome you. Please note that an official copy of the Student Handbook is below.

Student Handbook
As a new student at New Body University, there are a number of rules and guidelines of which you need to be very familiar.
1. Everyone following the 6WBMO, SMART plan, or who is Living Lean is accepted for admission into this University game. If you have any medical modifications (doctor suggested changes to either the food or exercise portion) please report them to your RA via PM.
2. This semester’s schedule begins with enrollment starting October 18 followed by Move In starting October 22th. Students begin to earn credits during RUSH Week which kicks off on October 27th. We will accept late enrollments until November 3 or until all the dorms are full. At that point, prospective students are encouraged to attend New Body Community College (and participate in campus activities for no credit) until the next semester begins. NBCC enrollments will go through the end of Week 4 (November 23). Credits will be earned through December 7 and Final credits are to be reported by students ON December 8.
3. Dorm assignments are made on a RANDOM basis.
4. You will be earning academic credits for following the 6WBMO or SMART plan guidelines (food—7, water—7, accelerated fat loss—5, and body sculpting—2). You will report your credits each week (Sunday through Saturday) by Midnight Central time Monday evenings. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week. Those students who earn 100% of possible individual credits (21) each week will be listed on the Provost’s List. Those students who earn 90% (19-20) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Dean’s List. Those students who earn 80% (17-18) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Honorable Mention List. All students who are on the honor roll will add the appropriate icon to their signature. Students who fail to achieve a minimum of 60% (13) of possible individual credits in a week will be sent to Study Hall. Students in Study Hall will be assigned a tutor (someone who has had some success to buddy with) during their study hall period. If they are able to bring their grades back up the following week they will no longer be required to attend Study Hall. If a student is in Study Hall for two consecutive weeks, additional support will be offered.
5. You’ll also be tracking your inch losses as described in your plan. You will report this information with beginning stats, with week 3 stats, and with final stats. Your Resident Advisor will have more information for your regarding this.
6. There will be one thread for each dorm. You are allowed to visit all threads, but attend class (post) only in your own dorm’s thread. You may post all the motivation, encouragement, support, etc. Anything you would like to post that is from any other thread should be done so with full credit to the author via quotes, etc.
7. You are allowed to have excused absences from class but you need to clear it with your Resident Advisor prior to the absence. Your Resident Advisor will go over the details with you in your dorm.
8. If you skip more than 3 classes in a row, you will be considered truant and withdrawn from class. You may apply for reinstatement by contacting the Provost via PM.
9. In an effort to ensure that all recipes posted are on-plan and that we are providing our students with only the best advice and information we are no longer going to allow students to post recipes in the dorms that have not yet been approved by Provida. Having your recipe approved is a simple process. You can submit it via email it directly to recipes@provida.com. This should be done only by the person who created or discovered the recipe and not forwarded by a dorm chef, RA, or anyone else. Once you’ve had your recipe approved, then you’re welcome to share it with your dorm mates, etc. As always, students are allowed to post recipes they discover in the Recipe Exchange (or post the link to the recipe) but those found in the Makeover America Cookbook are not to be shared online. If you are sharing a recipe from an outside source, please include that source so that proper credit can be given. Even if you have made some minor tweaks to the original recipe, we still need to cite the source. We hope these guidelines will help you and your fellow students get the most from this experience.

Facilities Tour
New Body University has a host of great places for the students, faculty and staff to use for gathering information and maximizing the game experience.
NBU 101—The NBU Entrance Course This is a place where potential students can go to learn how to post, edit, and otherwise navigate the Provida Forums.
NBU08 Fall--Provost's Office This is the official administration office. Any questions or concerns you have about NBU can be posted here.
NBU08 Fall--Registrar's Office This is the place to go for enrollments and dorm assignments. It should be the first stop for new students on campus.
NBU08 Fall--Student Records Office This is the place for reporting weekly credit grades. Only the RAs (or an appointed person from each conference) should post in their conference color here.
NBU08 Fall--Food Services Office This is the place to post recipes and ask questions related to the food portion of the 6WBMO and SMART programs. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.
NBU08 Fall--Quad This is a general meeting place for student throughout campus—just a relaxed place for open conversation and fun. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.
NBU08 Fall--Locker Room This is the place where exercise and fitness related tips and information will be available to everyone on campus. The primary focus of the Locker Room will be on fitness and well being using the principles of the 6WBMO. Information on different exercises, cardio and how to live a more active lifestyle will be discussed.
NBU—Residence Halls This is where the fun is. Students are assigned to resident halls. They are not allowed to post in halls other than their own. They can “snoop” in others to get ideas, etc. but not post there.
Enjoy wandering our campus!

I am excited to extend an invitation for you to join us in the dorm and get ready for an exciting life changing experience! You'll meet new friends, learn more about yourself and the 6WBMO program, and involve yourself in the unique "dorm" experience. Every day you share with us is one more step towards achieving your goal and we’ll be there for you every step of the way.
This is my 4th semester as RA of Penguin Hall. Janet, Sparkyjs65, is our ARA. She'll introduce herself to you in the next post. This is the second semester Janet and I are teamed together and I am looking forward to working with her again this semester.

I am looking forward to sharing our ups and downs, helping as best I can, learning along with you, and getting to know you better.

I am Janet, your ARA! I am so glad you have decided to take this journey with Michelle and myself! We are excited to have you join us here in Penguin Hall.
I originally started the Six Week Body Makeover Program in November 2006. I found NBU in the Summer of 2007. This is my sixth semester at NBU and my second as ARA. This program has changed my life, not only physically but also mentally. However, I did not do it alone. I have had support from my family, but most of all my friends, online & off, alot which I have met through the 6WBMO and the NBU forums.
We are here to help motivate you, support you, answer any questions you may have and help you in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to ask for help, post comments, questions or concerns. We will do our best to help you, and if we don't know the answer, we will either get it for you or send you in the right direction.

I look forward to supporting all of you in reaching your goals during these next six weeks. What you gain from this semester depends on what you put into it! Penguin Hall is a place to receive guidance, cheer each other on, stay accountable, and most importantly.........................to lose those unwanted inches and pounds!

So come on Penguins!
Let the fun Begin!!!

Getting To Know You....
Personal Info:
My Provida name is: Leah57Stitches
I chose this screen name because: Leah is my "online name" (which is actually my middle name), 57 is the year I was born, and I like to Cross Stitch
Please call me: Leah
Where I'm from: Northern VA (25 miles south of DC
My birthday is (month and day): 11/12 (the year is above!)
My occupation or what I do all day is: CPA, Financial Analyst for a local financial institution
Hobbies (or your favorite way to have fun): Stitching, hanging out online. Also, for the last 3 years, I've captained my company's team for the National Race for the Cure. Lately, it seems to be "home projects"
Your favorite color: Pink
Provida Experience:
I am on the 6WBMO, SMART, or Living Lean plan: 6WBMO (I have SMART tapes, too, but haven't listened for a while.... I think I need to start that again, too!)
I am body type: B
I've been on the program since: ack, how scary - May 2005
What made me decide to start the program: got tired of paying for another weightloss website... saw the infomercial and ordered the product. I liked the idea of free online support, too.
Goals/Motivation:
My short-term goal(s) is/are: no longer be "obese", but merely "fat" (I think that's about 10 lbs, we'll see what the scale says on Monday).
My long-term goal(s) is/are: get to a healthy weight, get OFF meds for both hypertension and high cholesterol.
My biggest motivator is: the size 12 jeans and pants in my closet
My biggest obstacle and/or the area I am having the most problem with is: right now, getting back on the plan.... I've had recent issues that I think I'm finally getting to the end of having to deal with (see below).
NBU Experience:
Have you been in a dorm before, if so which one? many times - back at least 2 years, most recently Polar Bear Hall If so, what aspects did you like best? accountability, comeraderie, meeting new people!
Did you have any jobs in your previous dorm? Stats (my fave), Hall Monitor, Challenge Coordinator (didn't like as much)
Why did you enroll in NBU for this semester? I so NEED this!!!
Challenges/Suggestions:
Which part of the plan is easiest for you (drinking 100 oz. of water, eating 5-6 times per day, cardio 5x’s a week, or sculpting 2x’s a week): water, eating 5 meals a day (although timing meals is sometimes a challenge).
Which part is the hardest? Sculpting! I need to find a good place at my house to DO this..... but I think I have a project for this weekend that will solve it......
The best suggestion I have for my dorm mates: Don't quit! I had my worst semester (points wise) last semester, but I still didn't quit... I guess I "started over" almost every day!!
What do you think we can do to help you succeed? Don't let me get discouraged!
Please share any additional information about yourself as you would like. Please do not post email addresses and/or telephone numbers (for your own protection only share that through PMs).
OK, here we go....
I'm divorced for over 8 years after being married almost 23. I'm dating a WONDERFUL man for almost 6 years. I have 2 grown boys. My oldest is married with 2 boys. Unfortunately, he's estranged from the family, so I don't get the pleasure of getting to see my grandsons. My youngest son lives close by and I see him as often as possible, given our busy lives. On 09/20, I had to send my fur-baby of 14.5 years, Scooter, across the Rainbow Bridge. My DS had to do the same with his fur-baby, Skate, just 10 weeks prior. Since Scooter's departure, I've been doing household projects of ALL kinds - re-floored one bathroom, my foyer and my kitchen. Yesterday, I had the rest of my house carpeted. My youngest DS replaced my Kitchen fan, and this weekend I plan to replace my LR ceiling fan, and as time permits, I'm going to re-floor my master bath. Yikes, no wonder I've not had time for sculpting or cardio!

Have you been in a dorm before, if so which one? yes, Owl Hall, summer intersession in Heartlend conference, Blue Jay Hall If so, what aspects did you like best? meeting people that are going through the smae things that I am and trying to improve ourselves
Did you have any jobs in your previous dorm? yes /class clown
Why did you enroll in NBU for this semester? more support and I love the people and learning about where they are from and what they like to do.
Challenges/Suggestions:
Which part of the plan is easiest for you (drinking 100 oz. of water, eating 5-6 times per day, cardio 5x’s a week, or sculpting 2x’s a week): drinking the water.
Which part is the hardest? sculpting
The best suggestion I have for my dorm mates: plan your meals and cook ahead. that way you always have something to eat.
What do you think we can do to help you succeed? Kick my butt when I am not being OP or POP

Getting To Know You....
Personal Info:
My Provida name is: jendestin
I chose this screen name because: I have always used this as my screen names. Jen for my name and Destin for where I live.
Please call me: Jenn
Where I'm from: Destin, Florida
My birthday is (month and day): Mar 22nd
My occupation or what I do all day is: Financial Planning, mainly insurance and annuites.
Hobbies (or your favorite way to have fun): Beach, boating, hanging out with friends and family, and I'm kind of a computer junkie.
Your favorite color: I don't really have any favorites like that.
Provida Experience:
I am on the 6WBMO, SMART, or Living Lean plan: Currently 6WBMO, I do have the SMART tapes but have never really been able to keep up with the tapes on a consistant basis.
I am body type: B but probably need totake the test again just to be certain.
I've been on the program since: I started the program officially in June of 2006, had lost 50 pounds and was at goal by that November. Unfortunately, I got that invincibility bug and let it all go again and have been strugglin to get back to plan 100% consistantly.
What made me decide to start the program: I had tried all types of diets and plans and saw the infomercial one night and decided I should try once again...I was amazed at how well it worked for me.
Goals/Motivation:
My short-term goal(s) is/are: hmm...to get on plan and stay consistant, lose what I need to toget back to my goal weight.
My long-term goal(s) is/are: To MAINTAIN that goal weight for life. My life seems so much more manageable when I feel good about myself.
My biggest motivator is: Unfortunately, is just me, all the clothes in my closet I cannot wear, and that i simply just NEED this...for me.
My biggest obstacle and/or the area I am having the most problem with is: Consistency. Friend and family get togethers, Saturday nights, and alcohol...
NBU Experience:
Have you been in a dorm before, if so which one? When I was involved with NBU the first time around I was in lots of different dorms for multiple semesters, can't seem to remember which ones they were though. If so, what aspects did you like best? I love the accountability. I love being part of a team that all has the same goals and pitfalls, helping others seems to be the best way for me to help myself.
Did you have any jobs in your previous dorm? I think i was one a reporter, and possibly a couple other things but it was so long ago...I do enjoy getting invovled though.
Why did you enroll in NBU for this semester? I need to get my butt in gear and the accountability is perfect.
Challenges/Suggestions:
Which part of the plan is easiest for you (drinking 100 oz. of water, eating 5-6 times per day, cardio 5x’s a week, or sculpting 2x’s a week): The water and cardio are the easiest parts for me.
Which part is the hardest? Sticking to on-plan foods all day, everyday is the hardest part for me. But I know that once I get going and get a few day 100% is very motivating for me to keep on that track, my body starts to feel better, things get to be more habitual, its just getting through the first couple weeks.
The best suggestion I have for my dorm mates: Just do the plan as its written, don't try to reinvent the wheel. All of the tools and information you need is right there in your book, just stick to it for a full 6 weeks, that's 42 itty bitty days...
What do you think we can do to help you succeed? lol, just do what you do best here at NBU, provide us with a fun, active, learning atmosphere and let us show you we can do this together and all get to our goals.
Please share any additional information about yourself as you would like. Please do not post email addresses and/or telephone numbers (for your own protection only share that through PMs).

Glad to meet you Ernie, Michelle, Leah and Jenn!!!!! Mik and I are friends from Owl Hall and Heartland. Nice to see you again Mik. I hope the others check in soon. I am glad to be back in NBU. I miss it so much when we are out. I really didn't click last semester. I missed goal my weigh in last time by 1 stinkin' pound. UUUGGG. I have since been there a few times up and down. I would like to get about 5-10 lbs more down so when I flucuate I don't go over my "goal". I am still not considering myself LL yet. Well, I hope to talk to you all soon. Have fun moving in and finding you rooms. I found mine already.

Doesn't it look comfy? I am going to jump in bed and take a nap until somemore dormies check in. See ya' soon!

Well here's my room, as you can see it's large enough for everyone to come visit. We can have slumber parties, or just hang out and chat. Feel free to stop by anytime....my door is always open.
