    Welcome to the Provost’s Office

The Provost and the Dean of Student Activities occupy the offices in this building. This is also the location of the New Student Orientation Seminar.

We have come to understand that for many newbies (students who are new to the 6WBMO or SMART Techniques) there are a lot of questions about how to make the most out of the programs. Over the semester, we’ll post basic lessons about the programs below. If you have a question about something, you can check here. If you don’t see the answer to your question, just post it and I’ll get you the answer ASAP.

We have also come to understand that some of our new students become frustrated with the navigational elements of posting and become overwhelmed before they really have a chance to get the basics of their program down. Please know that if you are a new to chat forums, posting, etc., you don’t need to do anything fancy to attend NBU. I’ll also post a few lessons for doing basic things on this site.

Students at NBU will find fine living accommodations, experienced advisors, and friends from around the world. But more importantly you’ll be receiving a first rate education. Regardless of your degree track (6WBMO or SMART), you’ll learn all you need to know to make this life style change a permanent one.

We have high academic standards and we expect all our students to attend class (post often), participate in classroom projects and assignments (challenges), and most importantly maintain excellent grade point averages (earn your credits). We also require that our staff attend continuing education classes (stay on plan too) to ensure that we always have the best and the brightest. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week.

This semester’s schedule begins with enrollment starting October 17th followed by Move In starting October 21st. Students begin to earn credits during RUSH Week which kicks off on October 26th. Enrollments will go through the end of Week 4 (November 22nd). Credits will be earned through December 6th and Final credits are to be reported by students ON December 7th.

If you still need to enroll, just follow the link in my signature for the Registrar’s Office. Complete enrollment details are posted there.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of NBU, I welcome you.

Thanks again for choosing NBU to pursue your degree.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you have any questions about NBU or how to do things on campus,

post them below and we'll get you the answers you need.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Facilities Tour

New Body University has a host of great places for the students, faculty and staff to use for gathering information and maximizing the game experience.

    NBU 101—The NBU Entrance Course
This is a place where potential students can go to learn how to post, edit, and otherwise navigate the Provida Forums.

    NBU09 Fall--Provost's Office
This is the official administration office. Any questions or concerns you have about NBU can be posted here.

    NBU09 Fall--Registrar's Office
This is the place to go for enrollments and dorm assignments. It should be the first stop for new students on campus.

    NBU09 Fall--Student Records Office

This is the place for reporting weekly credit grades. Only the RAs (or an appointed person from each conference) should post in their conference color here.

    NBU09 Fall--Food Services Office
This is the place to post recipes and ask questions related to the food portion of the 6WBMO and SMART programs. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.

    NBU09 Fall--Quad
This is a general meeting place for student throughout campus—just a relaxed place for open conversation and fun. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.

NBU09 Fall--Fat Burning and Body Sculpting Bulletin Board
This is the place where exercise and fitness related tips and information will be available to everyone on campus. The primary focus of the Locker Room will be on fitness and well being using the principles of the 6WBMO. Information on different exercises, cardio and how to live a more active lifestyle will be discussed.

    NBU—Residence Halls
This is where the fun is. Students are assigned to resident halls. They are not allowed to post in halls other than their own. They can “snoop” in others to get ideas, etc. but not post there.

    Enjoy wandering our campus!

Enrollment requests are taken in the Registrar's Office.  Please go to that thread, read the first two posts and then add your reply.  You will be assigned to a dorm within 24 hours (normally).

    Welcome to campus.

I have an interesting question.  As you can see I have been a NBU student for a while now.  I am returning here because I have gained a few extra pounds.  My question is:  In our Profile it shows the amount of weight we started and what our goal is. If we have started way back when and continuing on  Do we use our starting weight as of when we first started OR do we use our starting weight as of now and our current goal in our profile? Do we use a new picture and continue with the one we have posted already? Does it matter because our Avatars are beginning from our first enrollment or should they reflect  a  new weight loss avatar?  Thank you for your time. DB

    Welcome back, Deb.

You can count it anyway you like.  Lots of folks have started and stopped, tried other plans etc. and decide to handle it in many different ways.

If you're looking for an opinion, I'd use the starting weight you are right now and start with new avatars.  That way, you'll be seeing the rewards of your actions right now.

    Good Luck

    Question, Question, I've got questions.

Is this challenge Monday - Friday or are we required to check in and post on weekends?  Technically there isn't college classes on Saturday and Sunday so I wasn't sure if it was the same here or now.  I didn't know if there was a specific day that the dorm challenges are posted, Do we post daily stats and weekly stats.

    Thanks,

    Lani

    Welcome to campus.

We are here to support our students 7 days a week but you are only required to post once every three days.  Challenge schedules will be posted when the dorms open and you'll always know 24 hours in advance of an official challenge.  We do have some that run over the weekends because we know those can be really prime days for temptation and we want to give everyone some extra incentive to stick with their plan.

Some RAs prefer that you post daily stats but only Weekly Stats are required for earning credits.  Our credit schedule runs from Monday through Sunday.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Once again, welcome!

Thanks Rachel.  Weeknights and Weekends are my hardest times on plan.  It has been a horrible first part of the new year already, I am so ready for NBU to actually start, I can't stay pop at all, none of my "forum" group has been online hardly since Christmas and I just have no motivation and/or support.  Thanks.  Let's get this party started!  Let's finally get this new year going right.

See you (sighs) next week and the next week when we get to finally start.

I remember all too well those first few days when I started this lifestyle.  It can be very hard to break all those old habits at once.  But, YOU CAN DO IT.  You may have to do some unconventional things to get through the rough times but you can.   You can read the "crazy" things I did in my success story if you need some ideas.  LOL

    Good Luck!

     Hi Rachel,

I hope this is the right place for a couple of questions.

    1. When I first started, I thought I saw a pic of a device that you can attach to the wall to hook the bands on if you don't have doors that swing open and shut. Do you know anything about that?

    2. I've pretty much lost all the weight I want, but I have loose skin that I need to work on. I understand that doing cardio after toning helps burn fat, but would the reverse be true if I want to concentrate on building muscle and losing loose skin?

    Thanks,

    Tice

    Good morning Tice,

Over the years, I've heard of a few different ways to hook the bands to the wall instead of a door.  The way that makes the most sense to me (also the cheapest and easiest) is to use a simple screw-in hook that you would find at a hardware or home improvement store.  The key here is to make sure that you place the hook into a stud when putting it in the wall.  In fact, I'd put in two or three so I had them at all the levels necessary for the exercises that I do.  Finding the stud in your wall is not too hard but if you're not familiar with how to do it, have a trusted neighbor or handyman locate one for you.

Whether you do our cardio or toning first is not nearly as important as doing both of them.  However, if you've reached your target weight-wise but still have body shape changes that you desire, I would suggest revisiting those Body Sculpting cards and see if might need to change up some of the exercises you're doing there.    It takes a bit of time for the skin to contract but choosing the right toning exercises for your body now will help.

Way to go meeting your goal and good luck with the next phase of your total body makeover!

    Rachel

I'm sorry you're having trouble.  If you'd send me the correct information (via PM) I'd be happy to take care of it for you.  You can also just send me the link to your week 1 stats if you'd prefer.

I'll look into this for you either way.
