Dear Prospective Students:
It is my honor to inform you that you have been accepted to New Body University. We are delighted to find so many qualified applicants. As a student at NBU, you will find fine living accommodations, experienced advisors, and friends from around the world. But more importantly you’ll be receiving a first rate education. Regardless of your degree track (6WBMO or SMART), you’ll learn all you need to know to make this life style change a permanent one.
We have high academic standards and we expect all our students to attend class (post often), participate in classroom projects and assignments (challenges), and most importantly maintain excellent grade point averages (earn your credits). We also require that our staff attend continuing education classes (stay on plan too) to ensure that we always have the best and the brightest. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week.
Your Resident Advisor, Sparkyjs65 will be here shortly. RUSH week begins March 16th and you will begin earning your credits on that day. On behalf of the faculty and staff of NBU, I welcome you. Please note that an official copy of the Student Handbook is below.
Student Handbook
As a new student at New Body University, there are a number of rules and guidelines of which you need to be very familiar.
1. Everyone following the 6WBMO, SMART plan, or who is Living Lean is accepted for admission into this University game. If you have any medical modifications (doctor suggested changes to either the food or exercise portion) please report them to your RA via PM.
2. This semester’s schedule begins with enrollment starting March 7 followed by Move In starting March 11th. Students begin to earn credits during RUSH Week which kicks off on March 16th. We will accept late enrollments until March 16th or until all the dorms are full. At that point, prospective students are encouraged to attend New Body Community College (and participate in campus activities for no credit) until the next semester begins. NBCC enrollments will go through the end of Week 4 (April 12th). Credits will be earned through April 26th and Final credits are to be reported by students ON April 27th.
3. Dorm assignments are made on a RANDOM basis.
4. You will be earning academic credits for following the 6WBMO or SMART plan guidelines (food—7, water—7, accelerated fat loss—5, and body sculpting—2). You will report your credits each week (Sunday through Saturday) by Midnight Central time Monday evenings. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week. Those students who earn 100% of possible individual credits (21) each week will be listed on the Provost’s List. Those students who earn 90% (19-20) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Dean’s List. Those students who earn 80% (17-18) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Honorable Mention List. All students who are on the honor roll will add the appropriate icon to their signature. Students who fail to achieve a minimum of 60% (13) of possible individual credits in a week will be sent to Study Hall. Students in Study Hall will be assigned a tutor (someone who has had some success to buddy with) during their study hall period. If they are able to bring their grades back up the following week they will no longer be required to attend Study Hall. If a student is in Study Hall for two consecutive weeks, additional support will be offered.
5. You’ll also be tracking your inch losses as described in your plan. You will report this information with beginning stats, with week 3 stats, and with final stats. Your Resident Advisor will have more information for your regarding this.
6. There will be one thread for each dorm. You are allowed to visit all threads, but attend class (post) only in your own dorm’s thread. You may post all the motivation, encouragement, support, etc. Anything you would like to post that is from any other thread should be done so with full credit to the author via quotes, etc.
7. You are allowed to have excused absences from class but you need to clear it with your Resident Advisor prior to the absence. Your Resident Advisor will go over the details with you in your dorm.
8. If you skip more than 3 classes in a row, you will be considered truant and withdrawn from class. You may apply for reinstatement by contacting the Provost via PM.
9. In an effort to ensure that all recipes posted are on-plan and that we are providing our students with only the best advice and information we are no longer going to allow students to post recipes in the dorms that have not yet been approved by Provida. Having your recipe approved is a simple process. You can submit it via email it directly to recipes@provida.com. This should be done only by the person who created or discovered the recipe and not forwarded by a dorm chef, RA, or anyone else. Once you’ve had your recipe approved, then you’re welcome to share it with your dorm mates, etc. As always, students are allowed to post recipes they discover in the Recipe Exchange (or post the link to the recipe) but those found in the Makeover America Cookbook are not to be shared online. If you are sharing a recipe from an outside source, please include that source so that proper credit can be given. Even if you have made some minor tweaks to the original recipe, we still need to cite the source. We hope these guidelines will help you and your fellow students get the most from this experience.

WELCOME TO BENGAL HALL!
I am Janet, your RA (Resident Advisor)! I am so excited you have decided to take this journey and have joined us here in Bengal Hall.
I originally started the Six Week Body Makeover Program in November 2006. I found NBU in the Summer of 2007. This is my eighth semester at NBU. This program has changed my life, not only physically but also mentally. However, I did not do it alone. I have had support from my family, but most of all from my friends, online & off, alot which I have met through the 6WBMO and the NBU forums.
I am here to help motivate you, support you, answer any questions you may have and help you in any way I can. Please do not hesitate to ask for help, post comments, questions or concerns. I will do my best to help you, and if I don't know the answer, I will either get it for you or send you in the right direction.
I look forward to supporting all of you in reaching your goals during these next six weeks. What you gain from this semester depends on what you put into it! Bengal Hall is a place to receive guidance, cheer each other on, stay accountable, and most importantly..........to lose those unwanted inches and pounds!
So come on Bengals!
Let the fun Begin!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Cece, and as you can see in my signature, I am a mother to 4 kiddos, aged 6 yrs (my oldest will officially turn 6 tomorrow...he's all grown up! lol) and under (my youngest being 11 months). This is my second semester at NBU. I failed miserably at being an active dormmate last semester (I was in the wonderful Frog Hall), BUT I have pledged to myself to learn from my mistakes and grow from them. In spite of all of that, I was still able to lose between 15-17lbs during the semester (I can't remember exactly).
I am ready to devote the time necessary to be a contributing and helpful member of NBU this semester. I am especially excited this semester because I see that I have been assigned to Janet's dorm! She was ARA in Frog Hall last semester and her and Michelle (RA) did such a wonderful job! I cannot wait to get to know everyone else!
Courage is not always a roar. Sometimes it's a quiet voice at the end of the day saying: I will try again tomorrow.
My overall loss since 4/2008:
My 1st Mini Goal:
Hi Cece, Good to see you again. By the way, you did not fail as a dorm mate last semester, you were a busy person with a lot on her plate and you did the best you could. You had more importatnt priorities and did very well with your weight loss. Get comfy, complete the GTKY and soon the others should be arriving.

Thanks Janet for the kind words. You guys were really understanding! I'm gonna do better this semester though; there's always room for improvement!
I didn't realize you were in FL. Color me green; I'm jealous! Has it hit 80 degrees there yet?! So far this week, we've been very near 60, and tonight we're down to 10 (with a wind chill down to 0). Boo!
What kind of books do you enjoy reading? I particularly like to read self-help, spiritual, nonfiction and cookbooks (yes, pathetic, I know!).
It's been in the upper 70's mostly, but this week it's supposed to be in the low 80's.
I read a variety of books. I mostly like mystery novels, in fact Robin Cook is my favorite author. But I do enjoy spiritual type books & cookbooks too, so not pathetic at all.

Hi Shannon, glad to have you here. This is going to be a great semester. I too enjoy the biggest loser, but the way they workout to me is way too extreme. But I still love to see their progress each week. Play the cello, how cool. Well take a look around get settled in.
Hello Jean, welcome aboard. WOW you can play a lot of instruments. Let me guess you majored in... Music. That is so cool. Okay have to ask... What is MMORPG's? and how do you play them? Also, what kind of books do you like to read? And no self-sabotage allowed, we'll help you get through that. Well get settled in and get to know your dorm mates.
Our dorm color is #663333 (this shade of Brown) I will often use this color when I post important announcements – so you can easily spot the important stuff quickly. If you need to ask an important question, PLEASE use this color too.
But please don’t use our dorm color for regular chitchat. Here are a few other colors that are reserved in the dorms: Bold Blue is for the Provost and Activities Director for NBU Red is reserved for Stats Bold Greenis for Food ServicesGreenis for Locker Room Other than those colors, feel free to use color in your posts (and graphics too, lessons are available in the Provost’s Office). Have fun and be creative! Contributions to this post by brwright and janiselain.
Hi Shannon and Jean! Glad to meet y'all:)
Shannon, I can relate to not focusing on ourselves, putting our needs to the back-burner. This program has finally convinced me that I am worth thought and consideration (most importantly, through myself) as well.
Jean, wow that is a lot of instruments!!! I've always wanted to try strings....I've just never had the money or probably time to commit to it. Sooo cool that you can! I bet Montana is colder than Chicago...lol so you might be jealous of our weather! That might put my gripes in perspective, lol.
Anytime you see this cute guy waving at you, please read that post, he is in charge of important announcements.
