Dear Prospective Students:
It is my honor to inform you that you have been accepted to New Body University. We are delighted to find so many qualified applicants. As a student at NBU, you will find fine living accommodations, experienced advisors, and friends from around the world. But more importantly you’ll be receiving a first rate education. Regardless of your degree track (6WBMO or SMART), you’ll learn all you need to know to make this life style change a permanent one.
We have high academic standards and we expect all our students to attend class (post often), participate in classroom projects and assignments (challenges), and most importantly maintain excellent grade point averages (earn your credits). We also require that our staff attend continuing education classes (stay on plan too) to ensure that we always have the best and the brightest. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week.
Your Resident Advisor, BBadger4564, will be here shortly. RUSH week begins March 16th and you
will begin earning your credits on that day. On behalf of the faculty
and staff of NBU, I welcome you. Please note that an official copy of
the Student Handbook is below.

Student Handbook
As a new student at New Body University, there are a number of rules and guidelines of which you need to be very familiar.
1. Everyone following
the 6WBMO, SMART plan, or who is Living Lean is accepted for admission
into this University game. If you have any medical modifications
(doctor suggested changes to either the food or exercise portion)
please report them to your RA via PM.
2. This
semester’s schedule begins with enrollment starting March 7 followed by
Move In starting March 11th. Students begin to earn credits during RUSH
Week which kicks off on March 16th. We will accept late enrollments
until March 16th or until all the dorms are full. At that point,
prospective students are encouraged to attend New Body Community
College (and participate in campus activities for no credit) until the
next semester begins. NBCC enrollments will go through the end of Week
4 (April 12th). Credits will be earned through April 26th and Final
credits are to be reported by students ON April 27th.
3. Dorm assignments are made on a RANDOM basis.
4. You will be earning
academic credits for following the 6WBMO or SMART plan guidelines
(food—7, water—7, accelerated fat loss—5, and body sculpting—2). You
will report your credits each week (Sunday through Saturday) by
Midnight Central time Monday evenings. Each student should have their
textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly.
We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed
on the Honor Roll each week. Those students who earn 100% of possible
individual credits (21) each week will be listed on the Provost’s List.
Those students who earn 90% (19-20) of individual credits each week
will be listed on the Dean’s List. Those students who earn 80% (17-18)
of individual credits each week will be listed on the Honorable Mention
List. All students who are on the honor roll will add the appropriate
icon to their signature. Students who fail to achieve a minimum of 60%
(13) of possible individual credits in a week will be sent to Study
Hall. Students in Study Hall will be assigned a tutor (someone who has
had some success to buddy with) during their study hall period. If they
are able to bring their grades back up the following week they will no
longer be required to attend Study Hall. If a student is in Study Hall
for two consecutive weeks, additional support will be offered.
5. You’ll also be
tracking your inch losses as described in your plan. You will report
this information with beginning stats, with week 3 stats, and with
final stats. Your Resident Advisor will have more information for your
regarding this.
6. There will be one
thread for each dorm. You are allowed to visit all threads, but attend
class (post) only in your own dorm’s thread. You may post all the
motivation, encouragement, support, etc. Anything you would like to
post that is from any other thread should be done so with full credit
to the author via quotes, etc.
7. You are allowed to
have excused absences from class but you need to clear it with your
Resident Advisor prior to the absence. Your Resident Advisor will go
over the details with you in your dorm.
8. If you skip more than
3 classes in a row, you will be considered truant and withdrawn from
class. You may apply for reinstatement by contacting the Provost via
PM.
9. In an effort to
ensure that all recipes posted are on-plan and that we are providing
our students with only the best advice and information we are no longer
going to allow students to post recipes in the dorms that have not yet
been approved by Provida. Having your recipe approved is a simple
process. You can submit it via email it directly to
recipes@provida.com. This should be done only by the person who created
or discovered the recipe and not forwarded by a dorm chef, RA, or
anyone else. Once you’ve had your recipe approved, then you’re welcome
to share it with your dorm mates, etc. As always, students are allowed
to post recipes they discover in the Recipe Exchange (or post the link
to the recipe) but those found in the Makeover America Cookbook are not
to be shared online. If you are sharing a recipe from an outside
source, please include that source so that proper credit can be given.
Even if you have made some minor tweaks to the original recipe, we
still need to cite the source. We hope these guidelines will help you
and your fellow students get the most from this experience.

Facilities Tour
New
Body University has a host of great places for the students, faculty
and staff to use for gathering information and maximizing the game
experience.
NBU 101—The NBU Entrance Course This is a place where potential students can go to learn how to post, edit, and otherwise navigate the Provida Forums.
NBU09 Spring--Provost's Office This is the official administration office. Any questions or concerns you have about NBU can be posted here.
NBU09 Spring--Registrar's Office This is the place to go for enrollments and dorm assignments. It should be the first stop for new students on campus.
NBU09 Spring--Student Records Office This
is the place for reporting weekly credit grades. Only the RAs (or an
appointed person from each conference) should post in their conference
color here.
NBU09 Spring--Food Services Office
This
is the place to post recipes and ask questions related to the food
portion of the 6WBMO and SMART programs. Students from all dorms are
welcome to post here anytime.
NBU09 Spring--Quad
This
is a general meeting place for student throughout campus—just a relaxed
place for open conversation and fun. Students from all dorms are
welcome to post here anytime.
NBU09 Spring—Fat Burning and Body Sculpting Bulletin Board This
is the place where exercise and fitness related tips and information
will be available to everyone on campus. The primary focus of the
Locker Room will be on fitness and well being using the principles of
the 6WBMO. Information on different exercises, cardio and how to live a
more active lifestyle will be discussed.
NBU—Residence Halls This
is where the fun is. Students are assigned to resident halls. They are
not allowed to post in halls other than their own. They can “snoop” in
others to get ideas, etc. but not post there.
Enjoy wandering our campus!

Hi Fellow Roadrunners! I am Pam, your RA! I'm so glad you have decided to embark on this journey with Carla, myself and your dormies! I am so excited to welcome you to Roadrunner Hall.
First of all, I want to congratulate you all in making a decision that will affect the rest of your life in a very positive way. You will gain so many benefits from being on this program. We will all cheer each other on as we become more healthy, be happier, and fit into smaller clothes.
This program works!
I
started
the Six Week Body Makeover program in March of 2007. I lost 130 pounds
in 11 months and reached my weight goal in February of 2008! This program has changed my
life. I feel healthy, upbeat, and self-confident! I have changed both physically and mentally, but did not accomplish
it alone. Many wonderful friends I have met through NBU and the 6WBMO
forums have helped me in my quest for better health. I am happy to say that Carla is one of those friends. She and I were in Roadrunner Hall last semester (and we need to watch out for her stash of TP!). Both Carla and I will do everything we can to help you achieve your goal(s) for this semester.
I
have
been Living Lean for over a year. Last semester I was back to being on the program full
time because of my lack of discipline during the holiday season. But, that is what I like about this program, you can get right
back on it when you need to!
This
is my eighth semester at NBU. I gain more friends, tips, recipe
ideas, and ambition to maintain my weight with each semester. I look
forward to learning more about each one of you and supporting you all
in reaching your expectations and goals during these next
six weeks.
What
you gain
from this semester depends on what you put into it!
Roadrunner Hall is
a dorm where you will receive guidance, cheer each other on, stay
accountable, and, most importantly, lose those unwanted pounds and be
proud of yourself! Being an active dorm resident will not only help
you in your quest for a better body, but will also help your fellow
dorm mates! Thanks for being here! We plan on having a very productive
semester!
Please know that I am here to answer
any questions and concerns that you might have. You can PM me at any time!
Carla and I plan to be your loudest cheerleaders.
Alright
fellow Roadrunners, wake your body up, get those legs moving, and get ready
for some serious body changing in the next six weeks!
Oh, by the way . . . .

You can expect almost anything to happen in this dorm! I especially love pillow fights!

Hello
ladies!! My name is Carla, and I could not be MORE THRILLED about
being your ARA this semester! Not only is it an honor to get to work
under Pam's wing, but it's equally an honor to get to invest in each of
your lives!! Please bear with me, as I am not yet a "seasoned veteran"
of this NBU thing! This is only my second semester here!! I had the
great privilege of being a Roadrunner in the Winter 2008 semester,
right here in this dorm! Pam was my first RA ever, and I think I was
spoiled from the onset! (Y'all will learn quickly just how absolutely
wonderful she is!!!!)
I
"officially" started the 6WBMO plan on January 4th, 2009. (I actually
initially purchased the program in 2006, but I stuck the box under my
bed, and didn't look at it again until earlier this year.) My
"official" starting weight was 319.3 lbs., but toward the end of last
year, I was actually weighing right at 330 lbs. That last week of
December, I turned 30. I cried all day, and it was just horrible.
LOL But something in ME snapped! I guess I finally realized...."Um,
this is NOT baby fat!" LOL And I knew that if I wanted to lead a
healthier life, and if I wanted to be able to fully participate in my
son's lives, I needed to make some serious LIFESTYLE changes. We're
not talking temporary bandaids to solve a "problem". I finally came to
the realization that if I didn't learn whole new eating habits, I would
be struggling with my weight forever. And I just didn't want that!!!
My major success during my first semester of NBU was getting below 300 lbs. for the first time in 7 years!!
That
was absolutely thrilling!!! And I began to learn so much about
myself. This journey has just as much to do with us on the inside, as
it does with us on the outside. I am convinced of that!! For the
first time, I really began to notice the connections between some of my
foolish choices and my emotions. Here I was thinking that I just ate
ICK because I liked ICK! And that's really not the case! I eat ICK to
sooth and comfort me, and to pacify my negative emotions. NOT COOL!
But I surely think it's considered progress that I now realize these
things, and can begin to combat those reactions before they get out of
control.
I am
absolutely passionate about helping all of you ladies during your
journeys!! You will quickly learn that I am a nerd (which is okay by
me LOL) and a techie-junkie! I am online dang near 24/7, and I am so
fortunate to work for an employer who is a big fan of my weight loss
efforts, and is even aware of my role here in NBU! If you ever need
me, I'm here for you! I want to be your cheerleader, your motivator,
and your behind-kicker if that's what you need! If you ever have any
questions or concerns, feel free to PM me!
I have just a few tips and hints to offer, as we embark upon this journey together:
1. Post daily if at all possible! You have NO idea how much this will contribute to your success!!
2. Post in size 12 fonts! (Pam has to squint otherwise, and we don't want to give her a headache!!)
3. Please,
please, please do NOT get overwhelmed with the volume of posts in the
dorm - especially these first few weeks. Pam and I can both help you
figure out what's most important to pay attention to until you get
better acclimated to how things work. Our goal is to help you SUCCEED,
not become overwhelmed! Come to us right away if you start feeling
that way please!!
4. Cheating
is just simply not worth it!! Sadly, I know this all too well from
firsthand experience. I wish I could go back to the very first time I
fell off plan, about three weeks into being perfectly on plan, and
change the choice I made. Once you start, it becomes a steep and
slippery slope. My heartfelt advice is to choose moment by moment,
meal by meal, bite by bite to remain PERFECTLY ON PLAN for these next
6 weeks, and you will never, ever regret it!
Pam and
I are absolutely thrilled to have you here with us in Roadrunner Hall,
and we are all going to work together as a team to make this semester
unforgettable for all of you!
Let's get started ladies!!! The Roadrunners are on the move!

I've always wanted to learn how to play the drums (on something other than the dashboard in my car, ya know?)!!! :) I am looking forward to supporting you toward reaching your GOAL WEIGHT this semester! How exciting!! Again, glad to have you here, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

Hi Rachel!!!! Yeah!! I am so glad you've checked in! It seems quite a few of us play the piano! Too neat! I am truly sorry to hear that you've lost your husband. But I am inspired by the fact that you consider him your motivation! We are here to help you get on track to that healthy body you desire, however we can!! I am clearly "out of the loop" because I had to go look up what "widda" meant. LOL I hope you have a great night, and I can hardly wait to learn more about you!

Good Morning All. My 11 month old has been sick for almost a week now. But he slept from midnight through last night, a nice adjustment from being up every hour the past week. So I’m exhausted. So a little extra background. This is my 2nd time around on the program. I was incredibly successful in 2007 with the program and dropped down to my goal weight. Then I got pregnant with my 2nd son – gained a whopping 50lbs during my pregnancy and though that I’d lose the weight on my own. Needless to say I still haven’t lost the weight almost a year later. So I decided to “come back to school” so that I can lose some weight before the summer.
Carla and Pam – thank you for taking the time out of your lives to be our RA and ARA. I look forward to getting to know you both and find tons of support from you both. You are living proof that the program works and true inspirations to us all.
Pam – congrats on the upcoming wedding. Are you excited about everything? Have they chosen their colors (my favorite part of the whole thing is the color scheme).
Carla – I’m a nerd and a computer junkie too. It’s how I keep myself “sane” being locked in the house all day with the kiddies. I couldn’t agree more with you about cheating being a slippery slope. It always takes me days to get back on track after what was supposed to be a cheat “meal.” I’m pledging to totally be on track 100% POP during NBU. And I’m a total pampering girl too – I love massages and pedis and such…
Melovjah – Welcome! Nice to meet you! Your NBU goals are the same as mine – be perfectly PoP! We can SOOOOO do this!
Rachel – sorry to hear about DH. That must be tough for you. It is so inspiring that you consider him to be your motivation. What is hapkido? I’m always looking for new and interesting ways to work out.
I was going to try to get back to strollerfit today but since Matty’s still a little congested I don’t want to share the germs with the other kiddies. So I think it’s elliptical and maybe a walk with the boys today…
Talk to you all later. Have a wonderful day!

Hello Roadies! Morning has sprung. I have a feeling we will have a full house by tonight! I can hardly wait for all of you to arrive! Just run upstairs and pick out a bedroom. Carla has a wonderful presentation for you later today on our dorm. Wait until you see all the amenities -- including some you won't want to miss! Ahhhhh! I just have one request for the first one up in the morning: Please turn the coffee on! I am an addict. I never was until I started this program, but a cup of coffee at my fingertips seems to help with the cravings when I have them! Ok, help yourself to the fruit and coffee or tea or water! I will be back!
