    WEEKLY REVIEW QUESTIONS

This week I would like to congratulate myself on:
I am fianlly gaining some ground...not pounds...
Things I would like to improve on:
Just increasing my cardio...there is a barn where the horses are getting tall if you know what I mean...does  shoveling horse doo doo count?

Ways I think I can achieve these improvements:

Just make and appointment to exercise....3:00 every day...60 minutes of something active...continue my yoga! dust off some of those exercise tapes and shake up my routine so boredom does not get a foothold....being careful all the while not to re injure my foot. Sometimes I do too much. Moderation and and acceleration...a delicate balance I hope to achieve.  I am wanting a smaller shadow to cover the ground in front of me this summer....

That is funny! Thanks for the update on how he is, I was wondering. Also thanks for the tip, if anyone calls our store with a shot of 4-way, I will know what to tell them! LOL

    ravenmask:

In leaving I just had to share one story that happened this morning....one of many...that gives you an idea about my life here on the ranch..every one could use a closing laugh....

In approaching you with this story , I have to set the stage of understanding of what goes on in the "cowboy way of things"  The last thing that a cowboy will do not matter how bunged and mangled they become at times due to horse accidents, cow accidents and an occasional run in with the wife...they don't go to doctors.  Jim was giving shots to cows and managed to stab himself to the bone with a syringe filled with something ranchers call 4 way...it takes care of flu and eye and hoof problems all at once. Normally you cannot shut my husband up...yesterday he was quiet and I asked to see his hand...it looked like someone had blown up a rubber glove and replaced his normal hand...the swelling was creeping up his arm.  With his good arm twisted behind his back and threats from my daughter, his mother in law, my sister (nurse Sandy) and me...he went to the doctor somewhat of his own accord complaining that he should just go to the vet.

Let's move this story on to the doctors office where he declared he was suffering from a drug overdose...they weighed him clad in his pack shoes, overalls and heavy Carheart jacket and cowboy hat and noted he had gained a few pounds since his last visit.  Dr. Turner is our least favorite doctor and of course...guess who Jim got to see?  She asked what happened and called the vet to see if anyone else survived after a dose of Four  Way.  Yes!...she called the veterinarian who told her he would be fine and to just give him a shot of penicillin in the hind quarters...now there is something to laugh at. ..she called the veterinarian for advise.

On to hind quarters....(next chapter)  My husband is Irish and quite furry...hairy ears (all he is missing is a tin whistle and a stubby wooden walking stick) anyway...I always wonder how they find his ass under all that fur...I suspect a controlled burn would be in order...but alas...a pain in the ass...he got his shot...telling the nurse they were a real pain in the ass..he got another shot for tetnass (sp) and a bottle of anitbiotics.  He came home and rolled up his sleeve to show me is little band aid where he got one of his shots...when I said "do you want me to kiss your boo boo? he quickly revealed his bare ass to me...I walked right into that one didn't I.

So...now...he did say he should go to the vet instead of the doctor  and now I have to agree...it would have saved a phone call, and expensive visit to the doctor.  Maybe cowboys are not always wrong...

    Hello Bengals!

It is the end of another fabulous semester in NBU.
I hope that everyone has a restful few weeks off before our next session.
I want to suggest that you rest your mind and your typing fingers lol
but do not rest from the program that you have worked so hard to stay on!

Going off plan when NBU is off session
is like stabbing yourself in the leg?
Why would you do such a thing?
It takes such a long time to heal, if nothing else!

There are many areas of our lives that
we need to have work in harmony and if one
of those is off, then it makes for a rocky road.
Everything needs to work together in your life...
Think of this each day as you do a task,
eat a bite of food or even take a phone call.

Is what I'm doing right now getting me closer to my goal?

You should have goals for several parts of your life financially, spiritually, relationally, physically and intellectually.

While NBU is on break come up with goals for all of these areas of your life and live by the statement... Is what I'm doing right now getting me closer to my goal. If you can do that, you won't fall off plan, you won't gain back weight that you have worked so hard to lose, you may save yourself money, you can sit down and read a book for a few minutes each day & you can find that precious time to spend with your spouse, children, significant other, family friends or neighbors.

Don't allow yourself to lose your footing while on break.
Stick to your plan and get to your goal!

Your dorms will remain open until the end of the week. Your final awards have not been posted and they usually come out on Thursdays. So feel free to stay in your dorms until that Caps and Keys have been posted. The Information thread for Summer Intersession will be at the top of the NBU forum, when it gets posted...after Caps and Keys.

    Have a great break!
    Kirby
