I'm living - 25 hours a day. It's 6am I'm up, energetic and ready to go. I get the girls up and off to school and I go jog 3-5 miles. It's funny the 90 degree temperatures don't seem to bother me and I'm enjoying the extra attention I'm receiving from my husband. He'll find any excuse to swoop me up and.... On any day you can find me hiking, biking, inline skating or playing soccer with the girls!!! Oh we can't forget the shopping. My closet is still ½ empty and there's nothing in it bigger than a size 6. WOW did I just write that. Simply Amazing. Unfortunately this wasn't always my life.

I've been battling my weight for as long as I can remember. Up until April 2004 I was unsuccessful at reaching my goal weight on any program. About 7 years ago I reached a high of 335 lbs. Weight Watchers and Richard Simmons exercise tapes helped me get down to 260 lbs. Over the next three years I gave birth to 2 beautiful and healthy girls. Although I never climbed over 300 again, I was fluctuating up and down never getting below 260. Oh I did get close but I was nursing and sick that week.

In December 2003, at 292 lbs and wearing size 24, I was at the end of my rope. Although I did not have any weight related health issues, I knew if I didn't do something soon, I wouldn't be so lucky. So I made my 2004 New Year's resolution to lose weight. I worked it out that I could reach my goal for my 40th birthday. I joined Weight Watchers, once again, on January 3, 2004. I did lose about 15 lbs, but that did not last long. Unfortunately no matter how perfect I was on the eating program or how much I exercised, I stopped losing and even gained weight. I felt like I had failed yet again and was devastated. I began doing research on gastric bypass, but really didn't want to pursue that path. Due to challenges I faced with my insurance company finding a doctor, I didn't get very far.

One day, while channel surfing, I saw a program on HSN called "Six Week Diet". Hey I could do anything for 6 weeks, I thought. When I turned the program on, I immediately recognized Michael Thurmond as the fitness and nutrition expert from Extreme Makeover. The more I heard the more interested and hopeful I got. So I decided to try it. With a money back guarantee, I couldn't lose anything but weight.

April 27, 2004, the day after my 38th birthday, I began my journey. I lost a whopping 13 lbs my first week. Simply amazing. From that moment on I lost an average of 3lbs a week. The weight and inches fell off. The more success I had, the more motivated I became. I decided that if I could change my life style in order to nurse both girls for a year each, the least I could do was to do the same for myself.

All I wanted to do was get to a size 14, the average size of American women. Well I distinctly remember one Saturday morning crying in a Kohl's dressing room. I had kept my size 16 pants too long. I figured I'd buy a pair of tight fitting 14's so they would last longer. I brought 6 pairs of size 14 pants into the dressing room. Every single pair fit perfectly if not loose. All I could think of was that I'd be wearing size 12 pants in the near future, which brought on the tears. Two weeks later I was wearing size 12's. Friends from the 100% POP thread warned me that I'd be going through sizes much faster now. Before I knew it I breezed through 12's, 10's, and 8's. I finally stabilized on size 6. Instead of being the largest size at Lane Bryant, I'm the smallest size in Jones of NY (they don't have XS).

Now after 8 months, I have lost 115lbs and 112 inches. My total is 180 lbs gone forever. So you want to know the secret of my success. I was finally given all the tools I need to achieve success. I remained 100% POP for the 8 months I was in the reduction phase. Most importantly I have developed a network of friends, here on the 6WBMO chat forum, who are always ready to provide support. Having been Living Lean for 6 months now, I have never been so certain that I will maintain my healthy lifestyle.

    Sheri,

Thank you so much for sharing your success story.
I was wondering again last night if this was really worth all the energy I was putting in to it.
This morning I woke up with a much better outlook and now your story gives yet further confirmation that this IS real.

Thank you and congratulations on all your commitments paying off in the end!

Hello Sheri-when I read your story I had to reply. My thread that I was updating to vanished and I have not replied to anything in a little while. I can identify with you totally-it was like I was reading about me(except that I am a type 2 diabetic). I started on May 18th and to date have lost 26 pounds. I kind of lost my direction for a couple of weeks while my husband was hospitalized but never ate anything I shouldn't have but did not eat enough so I didnt lose very well or very much-But I never gained! I can't belive I have finally found a program that I can live with. I feel I can eat like this for the rest of my life and finally come off the meds I have had to take. I have already eliminated 1 of them and will be cutting the dosage to another soon. The end of the year is looking really good to me right now. I just wanted you to know you have been an inspiration to me and I really appreciate that!! Again-CONGRATS!!

You are truly the Incredible Shrinking Woman! You look like a completely different person- inside and out. The joy and pride that shows in your smile is well earned!

POP this whole time- holy smokes! That is the best example of making yourself a priority. You truly are an inspiration! Good for you. Your children are lucky to have a mom like you! God Bless!

I do have kind of a personal question I have been wondering about (not just about you, but in general) and I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing. What happens to all the leftover skin? I know they say that it will shrink back with factors making it a variable success. It's not very promising for me as I am white and aging. Since you lost so much weight in a fairly short amount of time what is your experience with that? It would be frustrating to work so hard and lose all the weight just to look like a defalted balloon naked.

Thanks you so much for sharing your story with us beginnersa and giving us so much hope!

    Sheri,

I have tears of joy running down my face - I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!

You've worked very hard to reach your goal and you are dedicated to your good health... what a fantastic inspiring role model you are!

Thank you for sharing your story with us!!!

I have only joined recently, but every single day, I come to these boards and see yet another person who has reached their goal and simply looks FABULOUS - It inspires me and I KNOW that I will also reach my goal (having tried everything else under the sun... sticking to it perfectly only to lose a bit or gain back or stall... sigh).

This health plan is a miracle. Period.

    Again, congratulations Sheri!!!

    Sheri,

Thank you for sharing your story, I am feeling down for personal reasons (marriage and children) and I was thinking about JUST QUITTING! But after I read your story, you have inspired for me to go at it again. I gained .3 Oz. and I was torn.

thank you for sharing your story, it really motivated me to keep at it.

    Thanks,

    Ohhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyy Gosh Sheri~
I had just talked to you on the 100% Thread 3 days ago. WOW~! This is so awesome! I remember looking at your profile about a month ago. My DH and I was saying wow! Look at this lady...she has done so great on this program...and It just made it so real that I have the hope that you could do this....then so can I. You look fabulous and what a accomplishment you have made! In only "8 months" you were able to loose this much weight "115 lbs."? Its so amazes me. Just bring to tell myself I can do this. I started a year ago last year the same time you did.. but, I feel off the plan. AND Realizing a year had passed me by. I was so upset that it went so quickly and I didn't do the program. But, I told myself I have to do this and never let a year go by me again!!! I have been doing this program since April 25, 2005. I have loved it so much and I am determined to get this weight off of me!
I haven't been totally faithful to the plan. But, I won't say I will quit the 100% thread. It is a life saver for me and the people are with me to get me through this. I will keep this 100% plan! I can do this...like so many of you! Sheri!!! You are a inspiration to me and defiantly a good motivator for me to see I can look as good as you one day. WOW! A size 6 ...its so awesome that you can feel so great...Oh how I would love to see me in a pair of jeans. I haven't worn jeans since I was 20 years old. So thank you for your success story! PLEASE keep coming back and helping the newbies like me to over come this battle of the bulge! This is so reality to me and just knowing I am able to talk with you and so many others that are LL makes it so worth the fight!
Keep in touch and again your look great!!!! WOW just think I can look as good as you in another 8 months!

Wow Sheri! What an inspirational story.

Michael Thurmond told us all that if we stick to this program, we'll lose the weight too...I'm so glad to see that you stayed on plan the entire time. You're living proof that this plan works, and works well. Great job keeping focused on your goal ~ a real trial for some of us. I stayed POP for about 10 weeks, and within the past few have found myself giving in to little temptations.

I was in Kohl's a few weeks ago and tried on size 14s for the first time in about 15 years. I didn't want to YIPPEE in the dressing room, but I will admit to pumping my fist and grinning ear to ear. That milestone and the loss of 34 pounds made me really cocky (you know, "I've lost a bunch of weight, now I'll ease up a little"). Isn't it funny the way our minds work?! I've continued to lose more weight since then, so as far as I can tell, my lapses haven't totally defeated me. My new 14s are a little looser, but I'm still not at goal -

I will keep your picture in my mind from now on when I feel the urge to go off plan. Your success is new motivation for me to continue and stay POP...so I can JOIN you at goal.

Congratulations and good job on all of your hard work!

    Chris
