I woke up late today, too.  The lower temps are very refreshing but a little chilly.  There isn't really time to get to the gym and leave enough time for a decent workout.  Instead, I'm working on the house and getting a couple of rooms in order that desperately need to be done.

I think my scrubs are beginning to fit a little bit better.  They've been tight for some time but I refuse to get a larger size.  That just seems like giving up.  I really want to get back into the ones l like, it's just taking longer than I would like.  Soon they should be fitting again.

    Jules,

Sorry I didn't write to you earlier.  For some reason, your post did not show up until a lot later in the day.

I bet you got a great workout just cleaning the house.   Since I woke up late, I only walked 3 miles.  I'm happy with 3 miles, but I really like to walk 4 or even sometimes 5.

We're trying to get things straightened up around the house and things packed for our mini vacation.

I need to work on the yard tomorrow.  I better get up early tomorrow it doesn't cool down at night anymore.  It stays in the high 90's or even 100's.  I'm not sure if I will have time to walk tomorrow since I'm working on the yard.  It may take me an hour or two to do the yard work.

Congrats on your clothes fitting better.  That's always a good feeling, especially when you don't have to buy new ones.

    I just looked at the temperature.  It's 105 and it's 8:30 p.m.  That's hot!!!!

I'm glad that's done.  I finished the lawn a few minutes ago.  It's starting to get hot.  I didn't walk today, because it took me about an hour and a half to work on the lawn.

I'm drinking some water now, and I'll be recovered in a few minutes.  We're still getting ready for our little trip and we're also going to the library for a show they are having.  Ronald McDonald will be having a magic show there today.

    Have a great day.

    See you later.

We just got home from the library.  My kids really enjoyed the Ronald McDonald show.  He does magic tricks and talks about reading books.  He took pics with the kids at the end of the show.  Here's a picture of my youngest son with him.  My son's nickname is Mac, so we call this picture Big Mac and Ronald McDonald. LOL

My girls didn't want their picture taken with him.  I'm not sure why.  Everyone is getting excited about our upcoming trip.  It should be a lot of fun.  I don't plan on being pop those three days.  I'm going to enjoy myself and then jump back on plan on Monday.

Nick, enjoy your mini vacation.  Sometimes those are the most fun.  I know you will be back on track when you get back.

I'm emjoying the break from the heat.  Of course, now it's raining.  It's unusual to still have green grass the first of July.  It looks like we'll need to keep cutting for at least the next few weeks.

I had good intentions of getting a workout done today.  I also knew I needed to cook up some veggies.  In the end, no exercise....but I now have lots of food made that will get me through the weekend and then some.  It wasn't a wasted day after all.

My rood is still leaking around the chimney.  I think I'm going to have someone else look at it.  It's not as bad, but something is going on and I'd like to get it fixed before there is real damage.

    Happy Fourth of July Jules!!!!!

I hope you had a great day!!!  We were busy getting everything ready for tomorrow.  You would think it wouldn't take a long time to pack since we're only going to be gone for a couple of days, but packing for 6 people takes a long time.  My wife did most of the work, but I tried to help.  LOL

I'm glad you got your veggies ready for the week.  I think it's most important to have the food ready to do well on this plan.  If you miss a workout, you can always double up if you want to.  But if you eat off plan, it's a lot harder to make up! LOL

I hope you get your roof fixed.  Have a great Fourth of July!!!

When my kids were younger, we went camping with the church.  It was only an hour away and it was for only 2 nights.  I couldn't believe all the work it involved.  I lucked out the the kids were old enough to take direction most of the time, but packing for 4 and I'm the only adult.....we didn't do it too often.

I'm still on track although it was a bit of a struggle today.  My stomach lining has been hurting and someone brought in some really good looking ICK.  As tempting as it was, I avoided it.  DD called just when the craving was getting bad.  By the time she hung up, it was time to get back to work.  Some things just seem to work for a reason.

Have fun for the holiday.  (I get to work.)

4th of july Pictures, Images and Photos

Thanks for the good wishes Nick.  I hope you and your family have a great 4th too.  We don't have any plans for the 4th itself though we may shoot off some fireworks if it is not windy.  Since it's been blowing a gale the last week or so, that is probably expecting a lot though it was a bit less today.  We are going to friends tomorrow and having NS pizza.  We may go see the fireworks that the Casino is shooting off after that.

We went to Janet's annual appointment with her lung doctor today and she got good news - she doesn't have to go back unless she has trouble.  She had a clot a few years ago after surgery and we guess it just took a long time for it to be fully reabsorbed.  She doesn't have COPD after all so we are thrilled.  And - she's 20 pounds lighter than she was when she went last year.  Not all of that is the NS diet, but a good 12 or 13 pounds of it is.  The doctor was very pleased as was Janet.

I lost another pound so I'm now at 9.5 loss on NS.  I am selling that stupid Taylor scale in our garage sale though.  It has never worked the way I thought it should.  The other one we already had is close enough.  It doesn't do increments, but I think it is more consistent than the Taylor scale.

We go camping about once a year now. Last year we went for 2 nights and said this is silly.  For all the work that it takes, if we are going to go we have to go longer.  So this year we'll go for three nights.  Of course we don't really rough it when we camp.  We have a huge tent, take inflatable mattresses and make sure we have an electric hookup for our light, microwave and coffee pot not to mention our notebook computers.  The only thing we lack is an Internet connection.  Don't know when we will go yet this year and it will be "an experience" because now we have the two dogs.  I'm sure it will be worth a laugh or two for your enjoyment when the time comes.

Oh, by the way, other years when we went to this doctor appointment we went to Appleby's or Dairy Queen.  This year we took along a NS chocolate graham bar and just got a soda on the way.  It was very sad passing by both of those places, but we are so pleased with how we are doing that it was worth it.

Enjoy your trip!  And Jules, I hope you have a nice holiday weekend too.

Nick, I finally got my car fixed, again.  This time it was the serpentine belt and the driver side door lock.  How frustrating to be on vacation and my key fob quit working.  Then the driver's door lock wouldn't turn and the passenger side the key wouldn't go in!  I managed to get the rear door opened, but then had to move luggage out of the way and fold the seat down to get to the back door lock.  I don't want to have to do that again!  I was never told that with all the salt used on the roads that the locks can freeze up from lack of use.  It's now suggested to open the door with the key at least once a month, especially in the winter.

I made it through another day.  This was an accomplishment when I fully expected to have at least one meal not completely OP.  I work the next 2 days so it should be easy to eat right.

I hope you and your family have a good holiday and mini vacation.  I'm sure the weather will cooperate.

I made it through another day.  Work was so so until 10pm.  Then the ER got really busy.  Probably everyone finishing their day and deciding to visit us.  Tomorrow should be better since we are fully staffed.

It's been really easy staying POP with all my food prepared.  I'll need to cook Monday, but I have enough until then.  I have that day off and no plans, yet.  Maybe I'll get more done on the house.  I got the laundry room walls almost done.  I just need to glue on the pieces.  They're already cut to size.  Then I can start on the floor.  I hope one of the kids will come out to help when the time comes.  It's much easier with a second pair of hands.

    Hi, Nick

How was the time with the family?  I hope you had a good time.

I made it through the weekend POP and the results show.  The ER was slow on the 4th until aboutl 10pm.  Then it filled up and we got busy.  Sunday was unusually busy as well.

Today is a day off, if you can call it that.  Cooking, cleaning, and home improvement in on the agenda for today.  (I'm ready for it to be done, but it will be several more months, yet.)

    Hello Jules and June,

I hope you ladies are doing well.  I hope you had a great Fourth of July.

My family and I loved our mini vacation.  It was a lot of fun.  We went swimming, went out to eat a lot.  We went to the mall, and of course we went to the Fourth of July celebration.

    Here are some fireworks.

And here are the kids watching the fireworks.  LOL

Even though we went out to eat for every meal and I wasn't pop, I didn't gain any weight.  I maintained.  My wife even lost a couple of pounds.  We did a lot of walking!!!  A lot!!!!

It's good to be home, but we did enjoy the mini vacation.

    June,

Did you and Janet end up going to the casino??  That sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm very happy that Janet got such great news from the doctor.  Tell her congratulations on being 20 lbs lighter. You're doing well too with your weight loss.  Congrats to you too.

LOL That made me laugh that you are selling your scale!!!  Our's isn't always correct either and we're looking for another one.  Maybe we'll buy yours at your yard sale.  LOL

Don't forget to take your inflatable raft.  Didn't you have some great pictures of you and Janet in the raft and sinking because it got a hole in it??? LOL  I look forward to your pics when you go.

Great job of passing up the fast food places.  You two are doing well.

    Nick

    Jules,

I'm glad you got your car fix.  Wow, that was a lot you had to fix.

I hope you got everything done you wanted to on your house.  We always plan on getting a lot done, and then the four kids kind of keep us from finishing things.

I bet the ER was very busy on the 4th.  Crazy night!!!

Congrats on always being prepared with your food.  That's why you are doing so well.

    Have a great evening.

Man, I go on a mini vacation, and I'm having a hard time hopping back on track.  I didn't workout today, and I wasn't pop.  I'm going to have to have a different mindset.  I can't believe I got off track in three days.  I did enjoy eating out and not working out.  Although, I did swim and walk a lot on my vacation.  I'm going to have to refocus.  Jules, I hope you are doing better than I am.

    Have a great evening.

Nick, I'm doing quite well.  I think it was time to restart.  The first time I did this, I got to within 25 pounds of goal and found it very easy to do right from the start.  Then I started having trouble with the breathing and exercise and cooking and just couldn't seem to get it together.  I must have restarted 5 times in the last 18 months, all the while the weight just kept climbing.

Now I'm POP 22 days minus one meal.  I hope you get back on track soon.  I know how tough it can be when you've indulged yourself.

    Jules,

Wow 22 days!!!!!!  That's awesome.  You're right once you get back on track and you are prepared, it becomes habit.  I did walk today so that's a step in the right direction.  I have my pop meals ready to go, so we'll see what happens.

I bet you're very proud of yourself for sticking to the plan, and you should be.  Thanks for the encouraging words.

    Nick
