     Hi-

Long time since I have written a posting. I just want to say that I personally love this program. For any newbies or those considering buying it, I must state clearly that it is not possible for vegetarians to be POP since the plan was written for meat eaters. However, don't be discouraged.  This is a phenomenal program!  I have simply given myself additional freedoms and boundaries to stay within and that works for me.  For example, I do eat beans and brown rice from time to time.  I eat soy and other meat substitutes regularly.  I also have added green smoothies.  All of this works great.  I make the green smoothies with fruit and leafy greens.  I make a stir-fry for breakfast and mid morning snack.  I follow both up with a glass of the green smoothie, which provides the nutrition of the leafy greens, plus my fruit serving that I am supposed to have with my 2 morning meals.  It works for me and tastes great.  I feel like I am getting a special treat whenever I have those smoothies.  If you want more info on those recipes, you can email me separately for that.

I am not looking to lose the weight super fast, but rather to adopt healthy and maintainable habits that satisfy me in the long run. I am happy to lose the weight more slowly at this point (with only 15 pounds to go, having lost 35 pounds already) and so long as it is in a downward direction I am satisfied.  With that said, for those who still have lots of weight to lose, it will come off faster.

I haven't made exercise a high priority, but that is because I am working about 60-70 hours a week doing various jobs and starting a brand new weight loss business.  Finding this diet has been a pivotal part of my success and lifestyle change, and I am so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.

I hope this helps to encourage anyone who is vegetarian and considering this program, and I would be happy to provide ideas, guidance, assistance and motivation to anyone who is looking for it.

Note:  I mentioned that exercise has not been my highest priority. I must
also tell you that I will make it a higher priority as time allows, because I know I would be more successful with a bit more exercise. Right now I walk 20+ minutes 1-2 times per week.  I am a certified personal trainer, but most of my work right now is doing home health care for senior citizens and doesn't allow me to really exercise with them.

However, I do have lots of experience with working out to lose weight and I no longer feel it is as critical to the overall success as I have been trained.  This has been proven to me by this program.  This is not to discredit exercise, as it certainly has its place and value.  But I wish to state that having a good balance of eating frequent small meals, drinking lots of water, not sitting around on the computer, keeping a busy lifestyle, keeping connected to God or you higher power, being grateful for what blesses you in your life, being kind to your fellowman and giving service to life will all lead to tremendous success and health, and yes -- weight loss.

    Be well,

    VeggieLady

Thanks veggielady - that is so good to hear. I've been a vegetarian all my life and am quite used to having to adapt eating plans to suit me. Luckily I can eat fish, so hopefully I'll be able to be POP for the most part.

    Hi Tara-

Currenly, I make a veggie with protein stir-fry in the morning.  I make 2 portions and have the 2nd on 2-3 hours later, so I only have to cook once for both meals.  Then later I have a meal replacement bar.  For dinner I have a cooked veggie stir-fry and sometimes a salad with it.

For my 5th meal, I have a meal replacement shake.  I have a favorite that is chocolate  and contains probiotics, all the essential amino acids, complete nutrition from fruit and veggie sources and it tastes better than any chocolate shake I have ever had. Stick out tongue   I look forward to having this as my "reward" for a good day.  I think it's only 85 calories for the shake made with water, but I make it in the blender with some rice milk and ice cubes!

Anyway, that is what I am doing, and I feel great and fit into all my size 6 clothing. Now they are getting loose on me. YEAH!

I would love to be your buddy!  Email me at shastalorri@yahoo.com so we can connect!  Look forward to hearing back from you.Wink

What if you are a body type E? Can type E vegetarians succeed on the plan...or do some people just need to eat meat to maintain muscle tissue?

Some body types do better with animal proteins to build muscle, but each body type can still be successful with this plan.

Hi in need of a buddy.....I'm a type A and my goal is to become a vegetarian. My eating habits are somewhat ok.I have been loosing weight and inches, but sometimes i crave salt so i have peanut butter or a piece of chocolate instead of going the cheese burgers and fries.I could even do a small sprinkle of salt every now and then, cause i'm not a salt person. My BREAKFAST: is either 2 egg whites w/1/2 cp of oatmeal and grapfruit for snack. or i'll have westsoy soy milk 1/2 cp with my Ultra mega protien powder w/ fruit no suger added, . LUNCH: is always mixed greans grilled peppers, onions, muchrooms with 2 oz protien, fish, chicken breast or turkey and 1/2 carb...1 cp of fruit for snack  DINNER: 1 4 oz protien with 1/2 cp rice or potatoe with a green veggie.  But....sometimes i have a free day and choose bad menu items to eat. When i have eaten these food items i gain more energy and i'm able to work out more. I need to loose more belly fat. WORKOUTS: tae-bo,gazelle,walking, jump rope,cardio,swimming..etc.What do think of all this.Anything on belly fat lose..was thinking of acia berry.

    pawprints,

I have noticed you all over the forum today making comments about various foods which aren't part of this plan.   I understand there are split opinions on this issue; some folks find confession helpful, others find the mention of forbidden foods an unwelcome distraction.  In any case, I'm not sure that our vegetarian members are the folks to talk to about hamburgers or meals including animal protein.  Smile

Reading your post points out the obvious issue that you don't appear to be following Michael Thurmond's recommendations, which is the reason for the existence of this web site.  Because I think it's particularly apropros, I'm going to copy and paste a recent post to another member from Associate BMOS Tenderpaw:

    Associate BMOS Tenderpaw:

Please don't post detailed menus in our forums, even if acknowledging that they contain off-plan foods.  We've had a number of folks try to follow our program just by eating posted menus, without ever seeing the materials or finding out their body types, and when it doesn't work they believe that this program cannot work for them.

The above menu isn't something Michael would approve of.  It might work for some folks, yet it would significantly slow down or stall most of our members if followed regularly.  Customizing outside the guidelines of this program isn't staying on-plan; it's creating your own.  Tweaking is only recommended for medical reasons, with a doctor's advice.  It's ultimately up to each of us how to use the materials.  What's written works incredibly well, yet over the years we've seen a lot of folks rationalize customizing it in their own ways to the point of never reaching their goals; I don't want to see that happen to any of you.  You can do anything for six weeks, and I urge you to give the whole program a shot for that long to see what happens before adding in commercially-prepared foods full of sodium and other items that have consistently proven to cause problems for weight-reduction.  Telling yourself you just can't follow it the way it's written pretty much guarantees that you won't, and you won't get the best results.  It's your choice.

This program is radical to a lot of people.  Cooking and eating mostly whole foods isn't something that they are used to doing, and portion sizing for several meals a day takes a lot more work than using convenience foods.  The results are just as radical when all aspects of this program are followed as written.

Mostly i follow my plan and I know my plan very well.I just wanted insight as to what i should do to calm the cravings.I also had questions about becoming a vegetarian. I never said it was okay eat meat.I only had red meat once this year that's all.But any way,i wanted to know if westsoy was good to use in place of the egg white protien for breakfast also?

    Hello everyone!

I am a vegan, and totally new to the program.  I have been on 6WBMO for one week, now.

Looking at the program, I realize that while I was not primarily a junkfood vegan, things like eating certain fruits by themselves or inadequate food paring was leading my body to gain, not lose.  Also, my choice of cardio was not a great one (step).  I had great muscle mass, but no fat loss.

The other factor that was contributing to my stalled metabolism was going a long time without eating between meals, then gorging the next (during the workday, it is so easy to go 5-6 hours without eating).

Because of the combination of these factors, I could not focus, craved sweeter things, and overdid the portions at mealtimes.  It is possible to eat too much of a good thing.  Also, I chose caffeine to stay awake.

Since I began this program, I have not craved cafeine, am better focused and I now know when I am satisfied.  I feel like this program is a 'recalibration' of my eating.

Instead of step class, I now walk 45 minutes a day at least 4 days a week.  I still teach a 45-minute Zumba class, but stay within my target heart rate.

Now, from what I read, as a vegan, it is permissable to have lentils, beans, and TVP in addition to tofu.  Is that correct?  I also have quinoa as opposed to brown rice.  I am unsure about potatoes because I am insulin resistant and worry about the consumption of potatoes and my blood sugar.

Please offer any guidance, as I want to stay within the plan, but am opposed to adding any egg.

The journey begins with the first step.[<:o)]

     Crystal,

Sadly, it's not clear to whom your post was directed, however, it you'll check the posting dates on the messages above, you'll note that most of the people on this thread posted last year or earlier and are no longer active members of this forum.  Assuming you purchased your program from Provida, you can phone Customer Service at 1-888-PROVIDA to request replacements for the missing components.

     jennalicia,

Bearing in mind that my job here is working with recipes so I'm a bit limited with regard to my knowledge scope, yes, you're correct on the subject of protein choices.  If you've not seen it, there's an excellent post tacked to the top of this forum on that subject with a bit more input from former BMOS Dolores.

I wish we had more to offer in the way of vegetarian and vegan recipes.  There is a forum in the Recipe Exchange specific to vegetarians, which may offer a few things of interest to you.

Best of success to you both!  Smile

Thank you for all the wonderful posts! I did 6wbm about 2 yrs ago and had wonderful results with meat but was getting a bit stressed while trying to figure out how to do it without! You all are an inspiration and I thank you for all of your "meatless" protein suggestions, I look forward to trying Nori as well as sprouting my own beans and trying some new spices. I agree I would rather have the slower results and maintain the health benefits w/o settling for less : ) I am just restarting today and am on my way to my goal, I have unfortunately regained 20+ lbs of my initial 70 I fought so hard to lose the first time around... due to, well, laziness ; ) ... thanks for your words of wisdom!
