Thought I would get a few posts in here before I really need to do some work.

Ramona-thanks for asking about the student but her significant other has not called to give me an update yet. Also I have never heard of an electronic cigarette. Interesting.

Angie-OOOHHHH contract law huh? That sounds tough, I'll stick with nursing thank you. LOL

Christine-Way to go with the 45 min. of cardio. I still need to build up to that.

Kialya-thanks for the great recipes. I definately have to try some of those.

I probably said this before but I am so glad this time on plan that I am making a variety of things. I still eat the same things for a few days in a row but then I make something else and so on and so on. I definately feel more in control this time. 11 days POP for me so far and I am really proud of myself for that. Ok my friend from HR is coming down to my office in about 10 min. to eat lunch with me so I will sign off for now. I will check back in after lunch. Toodles all.

Please tell us at least 3 positive things about your day....

    1. Erika found out that boneless skinless chicken breasts will be available on Wednesday at Sam's club for 1.67/lb. Whoo! On my way there now.

    2. Erika's body aches less. Yay!!!!!! And she makes me smile.

    3. My mom has found a new house and put a bid in on it.

Hey all - quick fly by post and then off to lunch!

Jaimi – Thanks for the info on water. I had a glass of water next to me that I hadn’t started in on yet. When I read your post, I drank down the entire glass! Cindy – Wow! That kind of day might have made me slip a little. Good for you staying on plan through all of that. BTW – your descriptions of Sparks cracks me up. I can picture him laughing at the tv. Heather – I like the idea about packing up the night before. I think I’m going to try that. Maybe it will make the mornings less crazy. Iris – How wonderful that must feel about your parents! I’m sure that’s a such a load off of your mind. {{{hugs}}} SAC – The weather is the perfect thing for you to be grateful for. It’s in the teens here in CT this week.

Kathy – Thanks for showing the 45 pounds of fat! WOW – how do we carry that around all day on our bodies? I think how much lighter I’ll feel when this is gone. And thank you so much for all the time you spend on us in this dorm. I hope you know how much we appreciate it.

Ed – I loved your three positive things for the day! What a great day you must have had.

Donnalee – Are you a red-hatter? Your after pic looks like it. Do you love it? BTW - I agree with everyone here. I don't know how you and Kathy do it all. But I sure do appreciate everything you do for us.

Angie – I like what your pastor said. It’s so true. I have too many relatives who have died or are in big trouble with their health because they didn’t take care of themselves before it was too late. Mona – I’m lost on the electronic cigarette. What is it? As for hubby’s equipment – at least it’s useful. Mine plays video games and needs all the equipment (plus good tv, sound, etc.) for the experience!

Kialya – Thanks for the recipes. I’m going to try the dipping sauce tonight, I think.

    Snooped from Wolf Hall.

Rather than thinking of reasons why you can't, think of the reasons why you must. Instead of focusing on your problems, focus on your purpose.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I thought some of y'all might enjoy this.

    From Lynx Hall:

From Roadrunner Hall:  (get out the tissues)

    Hello Body
First of all let me say I am sorry for what I have put you through. I have shoved junk food down you, I have made you lay around day after day. I know you would have liked to been out living life, but no I thought there was something on T.V. that was more important than going for a walk.

Year after year I have put you thru all types of abuse. I find it not at all hard to believe that you rebelled by giving me a heart attack I do not blame you at all. Every bit of it was my fault. And the drinking and smoking! How could I have ever done that to you? I am so sorry for that.

Ok now that I have admitted to you the damage I have done to us it's time to let you know I really am going to change.
I will give you the freedom from all the poison I have been cramming down your throat. Away with the salt, the pasta, the flour, the oil and all the things you have been silently warning me about. I say silently, but not really. You have warned me by the heart attack, diabetes, high cholesterol, bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, and obesity. You spoke, I just won’t listen. I am so grateful for this second chance to life.
Again I am so sorry for the hell I have put you thru. Now may I ask a little something of you?

I would like for you to help me. I need you to not rebel when I say "No" to our old ways. Could you also kick up the metabolism a little? Lets work together to get this body back to the way it was so many years ago. Help me to run and jump, fly a kite, swim, walk, bike ride, hike, laugh, set on the floor, dance, and look in the mirror and say’ darn we look good"

If you do this for us-I will in turn feed you healthy food, give you fresh air, exercise, plenty of water, enough sleep and remember to listen to you. I know now all these years you have been trying to get my attention. Well you finally have it. Lets work together to get a healthy, happy, strong, beautiful mind and body. If we work together we will "GETURDONE."

And, from the naughty girls over in Hawk Hall:

Kialya -Thanks for all of the great recipes. I definitely will try some of those.

Ramona -No, not laughing AT U.  An electric cigarette???    I think we need a block of instruction regarding this phenomenon. I have relatives that may be able to use this apparatus. My dh is also into music. He has played in bands for years but when we moved to Waco 6 yrs ago, he couldn't find any serious musicians. For awhile we were traveling back to the ole stomping grounds to  play but that got old quick b/c it was 3 hrs one way. We still have a 400 sf room with Marshall amps, piano and 6 guitars.  He has stage lights and a sound board set up too. Believe me when I say that we were the hang out when our girls were in high school. He is as bad as them when it comes to loud music. But we always new where they were.

Cindy – Good for you staying on plan through all of that. You're a good Red Fox.

Jaimi--only 6 guitars? What kind of musician is he??  LOL  DH has 12 guitars, a couple of Marshall amps, Mesa Boogie heads, key board, and a drumset all cramed into one bedroom. Here is his website filthymcnasty.net

Here is the website for the electronic cigarette myinlife.com/ramona  It's really great. DH and I have cut down on smoking a lot, plus no more having to go outside in 10 degree weather.

Yippie Skippy, I love bowling.  Bring on those challenges.  We love 'em!!

Just in case anyone is wondering, I have managed to get some work done today, but I do love it when a slow day coincides with a day when I didn't really feel much like working anyway. Stick out tongue

    Day: Wednesday

One thing I am grateful for is........

Kirby Mail!  The post by Kirby about positivity really hit home.  All day yesterday I was beating myself up mentally.  I kept saying that my food was so tasteless and that I couldn't do this for the rest of my life, so what was the point of doing it now.  I kept complaining about how much I missed ICK and YUCK.  Blah, blah, blah.  I finally talked myself out of walking and I had ICK and YUCK for dinner and PM Snack.  Today I'm sure if I can talk myself into doing wrong.  I should definitely be able to talk myself into doing good!

    my food was so tasteless

Tasteless food?  What are you eating?  Have you tried any of the recipes that have been posted in the dorm?  Have you checked out the recipe forum to find something that sounds good to you?  Rarely, do I eat anything that is tasteless (and when I do, it's my own fault because I haven't taken the time to prepare anything good.)

CC (skycathan) ~ How long have you been teaching your kids at home? Do they seem to enjoy it too? Ah...that's so true about Interstate 5!  I'm orginally from the Seattle area and I remember people thinking that even in the snow, they could go 55 and 60.  Amazing how many would spin off, end up in ditches, and then wonder why? LOL   I have heard some real horror stories this year about the amount of snow, heavy rain and the high winds in the area. Has it affected you much? WOO HOO...POP day for CC today!  Nothing like having your six year old to keep you fired up and inspired.

Hope all is well with everyone!

We have been homeschooling from the birth of the first kid, 12 years ago. The kids love it. We try to keep a variety of learning things going on year around. They get to experience things they never would in school. An example is the three oldest got to sail home with their Dad in Sept. They traveled from Olympia, WA to Winchester Bay in OR. It took a little over a week. They were able to see whales and other wildlife.

We went thru a spell with lots of rain and some high winds. Some of the lower areas had minor flooding. The wind knocked down trees, mostly east of us. Our elevation is about 900' at our house, town is 450', so most of our bad weather is in the form of rain and some high winds. The mountains around us have had lots of snow, but I think the worst of the weather is more northern Oregon.

I made chicken in the a nonstick pan yesterday. My 12 year old wanted to try some. "What seasoning did you put on this?" I told her nothing. She said, "But this is really good! I guess being on a diet isn't that bad after all."

I got called in for a agency meeting this morning at the last minute, so am behind on food a bit, but am planning on being POP, even if the schedule is off.

It is 45 outside now and sunny. I sent the kids out to play and will go out shortly to get in a bit of a walk and will walk some with my hubby tonight too. I want to get to at last 60 min a day in walks. I might have to break it up into to parts though.

Thanks to everyone for their stories and encouragement. I am really enjoying being part of this group!

Karen – You can do this! The new food seems strange at first because you’ve been putting s*** (edited to remove ick word) into your body for so long that you think that’s what tastes good. There are so many other great flavors out there – you just need to experiment until you find what works for you.

I’ve read from other posters on the forums that they were s*** (edited again to remove ick work...sheesh!) fiends when they started and it was very hard at first. But now, most processed foods taste too salty for them. They actually prefer less s***.

In the spices aisle at the grocery store, look at the Mrs. Dash blends. There are SO many different flavors. Another thing you can do is go to Big Lots (or Pic ‘n Save, Ocean State Job Lots, etc…any discount store) and buy your spices there. They’re VERY cheap, about a dollar each. So it won’t be expensive to experiment. When you find a no-s*** seasoning you like, then go the regular store and buy a better version of it. (The ones at the discount store are weaker than what you’ll get at a regular grocery store. Maybe they’re a little older?)

But don’t give up! And don’t worry about what you have to do for the “rest of your life”. Just make your mind up to eat healthy today. (Who was it that posted the ‘Just for today…’ post? That’s what I mean.)

You CAN do this. Look how far you’ve come already!

It has taken me all morning to catch up.  I have not done a lick of work today.  I've gotten about a million emails about the Baby Shower I'm planning.  Then I come back here and forget where I left off and start all over again.  It's been a hoot!  LOL!

I didn't get my POP day yesterday.  I fell off the wagon last night and then the wagon backed over me and ran over me again.  ICK dinner, YUCK PM snack, no cardio.  To top it all off I went to bed without preparing my food for today.  I didn't get up earlier enough to prepare it.  So I'm eating ICK and YUCK until dinner.

What I did do was make sure my portions were OP and that I was only eating proteins, fruits, carbs, veggies when I'm supposed to.  Now that I'm caught up.  I have a hour left.  I'm going to go find a couple of those recipes that Donalee posted yesterday and I'm going to cook at least one when I get home.

Erika: Thanks for the idea about taking my black book to the doctor.  Also thanks for the hug.

Ramona: I decided not to worry about the doctor.  Kirby's post was right on time for me today.  It could just be a routine check since I turn 35 next month.

Kathy: I hand't thought about that, but you are right.  My hypertension will be a thing of the past when I get to goal.

Cindy: Kudos to you for watching out for that student.  I know hospitals and stuff really make me anxious.  I panic if someone I know isn't around.  Sparks sounds amazing.

Jaimi: I don't remember anything on that nostalgia list!  LOL!  I must be a baby.  I love the bedtime graphic with the sulking bear and his pillows.  ROFL!  That was too cute.

Tice:  Wow, you are a city council big wig!  That's a huge deal!  Congratulations!  I'm excited about you reaching goal within the next couple of weeks so that we can see the now famous outfit.  I'll be bet it's perfectly respectable.

Ed: Now, stop teasing them about the weather before El Nino decides to come back and visit us!  LOL!

CC:  I picked my 8 year old up early from afterschool care on Monday and took her walking with us.  It was such a treat.  She has such an upbeat attitude.  She hates let her 12 year old sister get in front of her.  My oldest DD tries to sneakily pass up her while she's talking to me.  Youngest DD doesn't miss a trick.  She says gotta go Mom and jogs off to beat oldest DD.  Oldest DD skulks back to me and says "Seriously, Mom we have to return this kid.  She's defective."  I laugh so hard my ribs hurt.  The youngest one hops a little when she jogs.  It looks so cute.  She thinks it makes her go faster.

Angie: That Korean contract sounds like fun.  Hang in there.  I love what you shared from your pastor.  I got a visual of the guy with his oxygen tank.  It made me think how much time I've wasted destroying my body on the pretense of nourishing it.  Glad I'm learning to get better.

Donalee: I'm still waiting to hear from the doctor.  If I don't hear anything today, I'm going up there tomorrow.  I am remaining positive about it from here on out.
