Thanks Jennene..yes you did misinterpret my post. NO problemo !  I think because the first thing I said is I am sick.  Meaning I have a very bad cold that won't go away.  Thanks for the pep talk for tomorrow, you are right loved ones sometimes have a way with words, but believe me no one is going to knock me off cloud 9! A size 14 is an incredible feat for me, especially since when I started this I was a size 24! Thanks for thinking of me!  I hope you have a great 4th!

Deb..forgot to say happy Canada day!  Hope you enjoyed yourself.

Kim  hope your son is resting comfortably and feeling so much better tomorrow!  Also that you were able to calm down a little and get some rest yourself.

Leslie, Lois, LaGene, Sue, Cassia...happy 4th!  If  I forgot anyone forgive me, getting tired from this cold, going to bed..Night everyone!!

Hi ladies… thanks for all the congratulations on my 42nd.  I was married on Canada’s 100th birthday so I feel like Canada was celebrating my anniversary along with me. LOL  I unfortunately didn’t get out to see any of the fireworks this year, but I heard them off in the distance… does that count?  LOL  I hope you all have a safe and  HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

Renee… Congrats on getting into your size 14 shorts!!!  I’m so excited for you and know you are on top of the world right now!  You deserve to be there too!!!  I hope you enjoy your bbq and all the festivities at your moms party. Have  a Happy 4th of July!!!

Kim… I’m so sorry to hear of your son.  I pray he is better now.  I know exactly what you’re going through as I went through the same thing with my grandson.  He too had to be hospitalized for a few days because of dehydration.  I know how much strength it takes to cope with the stress of this type of situation. It’s no wonder you’re so exhausted. You just make sure that you take good care of yourself too and get all the rest you need my dear.  I do hope your son is better and is home with you now.

Good Morning!   Well, after a few days off  plan due to my son's illness and getting sick myself ~ I can't wait to start feeling thinner and better again.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Independence Day!  Party!!!

Yes Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.  My son is all better.   We will get test results later this week which MAY help explain why he gets so sick so fast.

Big Smile Congratulations to your size 14 Renee ~ not sure I commented on that before.  And 42 years Lois, that is something amazing in this day and age.  Glad you enjoyed a night out.

Jennene you are so right about turning excuses into positive actions.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone, and let's keep sticking to the plan!

Hello again!  I've been thinking and pondering my top 10 reasons for losing weight.  And here they are.

    10) I'll be able to have new clothes that I'm proud to wear.

    9) I'll live a longer, healthier life

    8) I'll be able to participate in sports with my boys without tiring out

    7) I'll be stronger physically

    6) I'll have increased energy

    5) Increase mental energy and focus

    4) I'll have increased self-esteem and image

    3) I'll not be the  "old" mom that I fear I'll be.  (I'm 42 with two young boys)

    2) I'll hopefully avoid/delay medical conditions that seem to be hereditary: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and bad knees

    AND MY NUMBER ONE REASON:

    1) A greater testimony: I'll grow spiritually in my walk with God as allow HIM to transform my mind and lay down new, healthier thoughts within me.

It is hard to come up with just one sentence for each reason, as there is so much thought that goes with each of them.

I'm going to print them up in fancy print and tape them on my kitchen cabinets!

Hi everyone, Hope you've all had a Happy 4th of July!!Over the past few days I have been reading Dr. Phil’s book and gaining insight as to why I’m overweight, and what I can do about it. I’ve a long way to go in the reading department, but I know in the long run this book will help me get my weight problem under control. It will help me lose my weight, and keep it off.  For years I’ve had such a negative attitude about how I look, how I got this way, why I’ve been like this for years, why I’ve gained back the weight I’ve lost in the past and can't seem to keep it off etc. etc. etc.  The list is endless… and I didn’t really understand why.   In the first few chapters, he has asked some hard questions that look easy when I first read them, but when I thought about them I found they were harder than I realized.  For instance: How will I feel when I achieve my goal? For example, if I want to feel the peace that derives from losing weight, I have to be specific about what I meant by “peace.” Does it mean an absence of chaotic overeating freedom from on-again, off-again dieting, an active lifestyle that promotes physical harmony?  What am I’m willing to do to achieve my weight loss?  What actions I’ll take.  Am I catastophizing my thinking? What he means by that is am I being a self-defeatist in my thinking habits.  For example do I say, “I’ve gained 2 lbs this week? That’s awful. I just can't seem to stay on plan”  That is a negative attitude. I should be more positive.  What I should say to myself is” I’ll review my week and see where I can improve. After all, since starting this program I’ve lost 5 – 10 - 20 lbs! I am no longer being negative in my thinking.  When I answer those statements I should be asking the validity of them too by asking — 1) is it true? 2) Is it in my best interest? 3) Does it protect my health> 4) Does it help me reach my goals? It’s a lot to think about for sure, and I’ve lot more to read and understand.

Also the message at church today was about putting actions to your faith.  It is not enough for me to just ask God to help me, I must demonstrate that I mean business and that I’m serious about seeing my dream of being slimmer come true by putting actions to my words. It doesn't have to be big. Even small steps will lead to bigger ones.  Showing God I mean business will please Him and show Him I’m putting action to my faith by the actions I take, like reading the Dr. Phil book, doing my daily exercises, making right food choices, drinking my water, and not giving in to my cravings. Even doing just one of these action items would be enough.  These may seem like either small or large steps, depending on your point of view, but they nevertheless show God that you are trying. I know He is in control and is giving me control over what I put into my body and how I treat it.  And I know too that He wants me to succeed!  And THAT makes all the difference in the world!!

    Hi! Ladies,

I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday weekend, and thanks to everyone who posted and shared. As I took time out this weekend to meditate on the promises of the word of God I was lead to,2 verses which I reflect on from time to time when I need encouragement or when I need to refocus my attention off me and my present circumstances and begin to re-apply my attention towards his will and true purpose for my life, and so I decided to share with you all. In Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who've been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:37, No in all these things we are more than CONQUERORS through him who loves us. Ladies by FAITH and STRENGTH in God we can do anything we put our mind to and although we may encounter some real obstacales along the way, we can be assured in knowing that he will cause us to succeed as we trust in him and in him alone and not our selves. And always remember that his plans for each of us are for good always. Most of all we can have what our FAITH, believe as long as we keep believing and keep doing.Yes

Good Monday Morning!  I apprehensively weighed in this morning, but was quite impressed ~ no weight gain, no weight loss. Yes  I was anticipating some gain due to being off plan while my son was sick and then getting sick myself.

Lois, I read your post a few time and there is  a lot to think about there.  I'm glad it is helping you, and thanks for sharing.

Jennene, those are good verses to focus on.   Our victory is indeed through Him and He does work all things out for good (even if we don't see it right away).

I gave some more thought to some of the excuses I come up with for eating off plan and not exercising.  I found that often there is a lie behind it.  For example, lets say I gave into that PMS initiated craving for CHOCOLATE.  I then might say "I already blew the plan for the day, so I may as well have more, or eat this other thing".  Well that is not true ~ the day might not be POP, but the plan is still there and obtainable for the remainder of the day.   Also, there is another lie behind eating it in the first place:  emotions, hormones and such don't have to be obeyed!

As far as exercising:  How do I know the boys will interupt my walking on the treadmil if I don't try, hmmm?

I have a busy week ahead of me, and I need to take time this morning to plan out my meals and make some ahead for the weekend.  I'll be away with some friends on a girls only camping weekend!  I'm making the dinner Saturday night, so it'll be on plan and then I'm taking up food for the other meals.

    Have great days everyone!

    Kim

Hello Ladies!  I see that you all had a good 4th. Kim I am so glad that your son is feeling better and I hope that your brother is doing well also.  Lois I did not realize that Canada Day was based on you and your husband! LOLSurprise

I wanted to thank all of you ladies for all the compliments and Jennene for the pep talk.

I enjoyed the day, most of all because everyone was telling me how great I looked and I was really shocked. I haven't seen most of these relatives since Christmas, so I have lost 48 pounds since then.  It was so awesome to hear everyone saying how good I looked.Big Smile  What is weird and frustrating about myself is how I still look in the mirror and see how far I have to go and not how far I have come! Lois, Jennene and Kim all of you mentioned about seeing the positives. I need to realize and congratulate myself on losing almost 50 pounds! I was huge and that is a huge accomplishment for me.  So, I am going to focus on that! A positive!  Lois you mentioned that you were answering Dr. Phil's questions and that you changed your negative responses to positive ones..like you said you lost 10..20..pounds.  It is so true that we all focus on the negatives.  Even at the BBQ, I had a few drinks and felt guilty afterwards.  I told my husband I can't weigh in on Monday.  He said to me do you realize how much you put yourself down, give credit where credit is do.  So, you had a few drinks and cheated a little..you move on, you always do.

I guess what I am trying to say to all of you is what you are saying to me. Although, I have not made a list of my top 10 reasons to lose weight, I decided I wanted to make a list of positives instead. The following is based on all of you ladies and so I dedicated this list to all of you, and of course myself! LOL You all mean a great deal to me and I think it is about time that you all realize these things...so without further a do..I present a........

    A POSITIVE LIST DEDICATED TO

                                     ALL OF US!!

    * FOCUS ON THE CHANGES YOU HAVE MADE IN YOUR LIVES ALREADY BEING ON THIS PROGRAM!

*ACKNOWLEDGE THE WEIGHT THAT YOU HAVE LOST!

*GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR FOLLOWING THE DIET (LIFESTYLE CHANGE) AND EATING WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO!

*BE PROUD OF YOURSELF FOR THE DETERMINATION AND DRIVE THAT YOU DO HAVE!

*REALIZE THE DIFFERENCE YOU HAVE MADE BY SUPPORTING US ON THIS FORUM!

*MOST IMPORTANTLY ADMIT TO YOURSELF THAT YOU ARE DOING THIS PROGRAM..

*LOOK HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME..YOU ARE NOT TRYING TO DO IT ...YOU ARE DOING IT!!

*BE PROUD OF ALL OF THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LET IT MOTIVATE YOU TO EVEN MORE SUCCESS!

Have a wonderful week, my ladies..love you all !!

Hellooooo!I’m back on plan this today and will be going for my walk later today. I weighed in and I’m up a pound.  I was going to say that I could just kick myself, but I know where I went wrong and I refuse to beat myself up over it.  It’s done and it’s now over.  I’m happy that it’s all behind me now and I’m back on this journey that will take me to my slimmer body!   Sometimes it’s hard to be optimistic when you’ve had a trying time, but I’m learning!  I am making a conscience effort to stop my self-defeating thinking and am trying to be more of a positive thinker.

Jennene… thank you for sharing God’s word with us. Heb 4: 15-16 says “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  God is the one true source of encouragement and we should all take a note from your book and turn to Him daily and apply His will to our lives. Thanks again for the reminder.

Kim… Looks like you’ve been taking a good long hard look at your inner dialogue. I believe you’re on the right path because you’re beginning to recognize that we all try to find excuses of why we do, or don’t do, certain things rather than try to fix our wrong thinking paterns. It looks like you’ve decided to stop the excuses and to recognize that you and you alone, have the power within you to recognize them for what they are and not listen to them any longer.  Way to go!!

Renee… first of all… thank you for your list.  It’s going to help me be more forward-thinking and focused.  It’ll help keep me more focused on my future endeavors rather than my past errors/mistakes/failures.  I am soooo happy that you enjoyed your day and that so many people congratulated you on your weight loss. You certainly deserved all those compliments!!   I was so happy to hear too that your husband is an active influence in your journey to lose your weight. Too many times we do not have the support of our spouses or family so it is very warming to see that he supports and helps you.   He was very right with what he told you: Give credit where credit is due! So in the future Renee… STOP putting yourself down.  That kind of thinking will only hurt you.  You’ve got to change your internal dialogue because if you don’t then you’re defeated before you begin.  You need all your thoughts, all your beliefs and all your attitudes to be positive to help you move toward to your goal weight, and being negative or saying negative things will not help you. So all in all, your husband is right and I’m so glad he was there to tell you so!  LOL

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies, and have a GREAT week this week!!

    Motivation

Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as you mind lets you. What you believe, you can achieve.

Hey Y'all - Now that the 4th has past, I'm back on plan.  No weight loss for me but no gain either.  I'm sitting her with my refreshing morning smoothie and ready to be POP all day today.

Renee, all those compliments will have you sailing through the next week so I better stay on track  - way to go!

Thanks for all the inspirational notes posted here.  My thoughts yesterday were on how many more 'Mondays' do I want to dread or feel pressured to lose weight on... the answer - not many more.  We're half way through the year ladies so it's time to make sure that we take advantage of the second half and get to our goals.  We've been at this for a while and for many very important reasons.  Our time has come.  We've put together our emotional well-being, our spiritual inner richness and now our bodies will show the results of that.

I'm really starting to look forward to seeing what our "after" pictures will look like!

Happy new week and good luck staying POP.

thinlil - make it happen this time!

    Hi! Ladies,

Hope each of you are doing well and enjoyed your weekend. As for me I feel as though I'm coming along pretty good these past couple of weeks. I lost 2 lb. and about 2 inches over the last week, week in a half ago. My clothes are getting loser and today I put on a pair of pants which I wear from time to time and I noticed they were fallen off, so much so that I felt uncomfortable wearing them. Because  they actually sag in the seat and not long ago they were way to tight. And I'm to the point I don't even focus my attention towards losing pounds, but on losing inches. And that's because sometimes we may not necessarily see a big difference on the scale or a big drop but could very well be losing inches, and may have lost in other places like your waist, hips, bust, legs, arms etc. The scale is not equipped to do everything we need and might not tell all. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care how the weight comes off so long as it comes and goes some where other then my butt and hips, and I certainly don't need any extra on my breast either.Ick! The thing is when I gain weight I usually gain all over but mostly on my legs and butt. And right now I'm feeling good and doing a lot better then before and taking it one day at a time. We really didn't do a whole lot for the 4th so I don't have the over indulgence thing going on to much, although I did try my luck at some Friendly's ice-cream and a bag of Cheese Doodles,No Oh! yeah! and some Fruit Punch Soda. But still I'm happy with my loss and will continue to move forward.Party!!!

Jennene:  You're so close to ONEDERLAND, can you see it?  Keep going.  I lost what I gained plus 1 extra lbs, over the holiday weekend.  Got my new avi, doesn't it look good.  Stay POP everyone, and move it.  Best Wishes.

Pat,  Wonderful new ATVAR!  Your simple post ending in "move it" made me smile.

I am quite down on myself for totally blowing the plan yesterday.  Sad I gave into the temptations for starchy foods, something I tend to crave when it's "that time" and truly they only drag me down further.   Today, without much of an umph in my spirit, I'm determining to stay POP.   I tend to fall apart at lunch time when making lunch for the boys and then let myself go from there.  I've got to get some music playing and dig into the Word and replace my negative self talk with the TRUTH. Yes

I keep thinking "if I fail to plan, I plan to fail".  I know I've heard/seen that somewhere before but don't know who I'm borrowing it from.   So I'm going to "move it" and get planning and get my room reorganized so I can get the treadmill out and then I can really "move it".

And yes, Jennene, very very soon you will be one ONEDERLAND Party!!!.   Plan now for how you can reward yourself for the hard work.   Gift

Thanks again Pat for the smile.  Smile

     Hi all, where is everyone?

Before freezing some chicken last week, I sprinkled it generously with Mrs. Dash' grilling blend and vacuum-packed it. (love my food-saver)  Cooked it today and it was seasoned quite well.    I will definitely pre-season more meat this way.

I'm motivating myself by reading the recipes in the forum.  I'm finding some really good ideas!

I need quick and easy lunch idea's so I can stop my afternoon cheating.   Any ideas?  I'm allergic to MOST fresh veggies and fruits, so salads are often not a choice.  (strange, but true they make my lips, throat and mouth itch more often than not)  Once they are frozen, steamed or cooked, I can have them to my hearts content.  The doctor's and allergists I've asked about this don't seem to understand it either.  Huh?

Hope everyone is doing well.  I am pressing on!

Patience: the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset.   This is my word for the day.  I must be patient with myself as I plug along seeking to make lasting changes in life-long patterns of eating unhealthy, not exercising and so-on. Smile

Behind on my water intake today: Had lots of errands to do today, doctors for my son, dentist for me, stopped into see my brother (who is doing great), and since I have bladder issues drinking while on the go is a no-no for me.  So tonight, I'll drink and be up all night long.

I am feeling much more positive, the time of month has passed.  I never really  suffered from PMS until I hit my 40's and now I understand!  Stick out tongue

I remember that Renee was celebrating her birthday ~ hope to hear from you soon and that you had a great trip.

LaGene, Deb, Patrician ~ how are you?

I do appreciate the encouragement from our group, so please lets keep posting.   Even if it's a quick word or two.  Keep on the plan, it works!
