To all of my mother hens out there, yes I am doing my best to get in my water but I am having trouble even holding that down.  I think Medicine has finally started to kick in as no vomiting during the night but I am still sick to my stomach.  I called my Doctor yesterday and he said if I am not doing better by this afternoon he wants to see me pronto which I will do.  I don't know if it the new chemo meds they put me on for my colon cancer or not.  But only take it 3 x's a week right now.  Doctor is hoping it will do the trick without surgery.

    I Forgot Day

    When : July 2and

I Forgot Day, by definition, today is not a day to remember. So, just what are you forgetting? Can you even remember? Is it important? Hopefully, not.

Some days are days to remember and to cherish all of our lives. Others, like today, are ones to be forgotten. If you are having a bad day, it's just as well that today is I Forgot Day. We do hope that you are not getting married or having a baby today.

Some people view today as an opportunity to express their regrets for forgetting something, and to make amends. They do so by sending cards and flowers, apologizing for their memory lapse. The trouble is, if you forget something important tomorrow, you have to wait a whole year for the next I Forgot Day to arrive.

I Forgot Day is closely related to I'm Sorry Day.

    This is an In~Dorm Challenge
    for
    Southwest Conference
    to begin
     Friday, July 3rd ~ Sunday, July 5th

    The weekend is upon us!

It is also an important holiday weekend.

For most of us, the weekend can be a time to relax, to spend with
family, and a time for fun,
but it can also bring many unplanned activities.

Weekends seem to be the time
when many people have trouble staying POP....especially during holiday weekends when there are lots of picnics and off~plan foods!

    Why?

The question is not why do
    weekends seem hardest,
but why do we let the
    ***ICK CRAVINGS***
    take over on weekends
when remaining POP during the week seems so easy?

Many of us find these three days of the week bring with them the biggest challenges to staying on plan.

That is why this weekend your is to be a
    WEEKEND WARRIOR!

    0ind7.gif picture by dgvalley31

Let yourselves be independent of those cravings.
Prove to yourself that you can be independent of the off~plan foods.

My family will be grilling tomorrow and Saturday. I like using the grill for several meals.

Take care all. I will be in and out.reading posts and staying in touch with you. I know that the weekends are a struggle and this one will be one of them. Stay hydrated and eat those veggies.

    Jaci,

Wow, Added to the indecency of making you put poison in your body to even stay alive, now the meds they give to counter the awful evidence of the poison's work aren't helping. Bless you honey, sorry you are having to go through this. I hope they find something to help make you feel habitable again soon. Don't give up hope. Sometimes, hope is the thing that winds up having done the most good  anyway. Try to sleep as much as you can. Sometimes sleep is the only escape available when you feel crappy. You've come too far. There is surely a break right around the corner for you.

    Hi Southwesterners!

I'm just checking in on you before I run off for a lunch date. Not enough time to do everything lately! I really need to cook this afternoon.

Cynthia--Your'e doing a great job of keeping us challenged. I will definitely be getting some icons this week. We have a big party on July 4th so I will need to plan especially well to make sure I can stay POP. I think I will weigh in beofre and after the party to keep myself away from the ICK.

Michelle--Have a great time with your family. Don't know about 6 Flags for a holiday, but I'm sure you will have fun. Thanks for being our Co-Ra and keeping me on track.

Jaci--Wow! Take care of yourself and be careful. Maybe warm tea would stay down.

Debbie--Glad you're back. Loved the photos. You look great and deserve all the compliments you got.

Andrea--Don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Marty--I'm glad you're getting your energy back finally. Took me a while--maybe a year--to get my energy back. Now I have plenty (well, most of the time).

Okay, gotta run. Will talk with you all later today.

GOOD NIGHT Pictures, Images and Photos

Hi everyone, well i am posting now just to say hi and good night.  Work today was okay.  however, i think that i am coming down with DH cold.  I started Coughing this afternoon and can't seem to shake it.  So medication in me, cough drops and a lot of hot tea. (sorry no water) the hot tea is helping.  I have it with some lemon.  Tried just hot lemon water, didn't taste that good.  so i am off to bed now and hopefully can get some sleep.  DD says its because i went from cold/cool weather to extreme hot to mild, to extreme, to cool/warm weather within a weeks time.  any ways i am going to bed now and i shall talk with everyone later.

Good Morning all here is a little something from Jullian Michaels:

Get Seven Hours of Shut-eye for a Healthier Mind and Body
A full night's sleep is not a luxury — it's a basic necessity for healthy hormone balance. Once you dip below seven hours a night, you are increasing your risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke, depression, and obesity.

Some researchers believe that slow-wave sleep — the deep, dreamless sleep that you ideally sink into about three or four times a night — may actually regulate your metabolism. Sleep researcher break down sleep into five stages. Stage 4 slow-wave sleep, which begins about an hour after we fall asleep, is when we release our greatest pulses of growth hormone, the hormone that prompts the body to burn stored fat. When we're young, we spend about 20 percent of our time asleep in slow-wave stages 3 and 4. But as we get older, we may only spend about 10 or even 5 percent there.

Sadly, just two nights of bad sleep will cut your satiety hormone leptin by 20 percent and increase your hunger hormone ghrelin by 30 percent. That one-two punch makes you much more likely to snack on high-carb treats, which couldn't come at a worse time for your insulin levels. In a recent study, University of Chicago researchers found that just three nights of poor sleep made the bodies of young, healthy test subjects 25 percent less sensitive to insulin. This level of insulin resistance is comparable to that brought on by carrying 20 to 30 extra pounds.

In order to block fat-storage hormones and allow the full release of fat-burning hormones, you need to get at least seven hours of sleep a night!

Rise & shine, Southwesterners! Pour a cuppa coffee and sit down to chat for a while.

Debbie--I love it when I get a good night's sleep. I find when I exercise at least one hour during the day that I sleep well that night. Otherwise I toss and turn. Also, eating ICK will keep me up, so there's extra motivation to stay away from ICK.

I finally finished a BINGO line for the Quad.

    1. Journal your food for the day
    2. Post your appreciation of your co-RAs
    3. Drink an extra 20 ounces of water
    4. Give yourself three compliments today
    5. Visit the Food Services Forum

I also have 1050 points for our pool party. That should get the water up to about my ankles!

    and finally...

I Kate, earned 60 pts in this challenge and earned this icon:

It's iconmania for me this week! Still two more I could earn from the Quad and FSO. We'll see if I have time...

    Have a great day everyone.

    This is an In~Dorm Challenge
    for
    Southwest Conference
    to begin
     Friday, July 3rd ~ Sunday, July 5th

    The weekend is upon us!

It is also an important holiday weekend.

For most of us, the weekend can be a time to relax, to spend with
family, and a time for fun,
but it can also bring many unplanned activities.

Weekends seem to be the time
when many people have trouble staying POP....especially during holiday weekends when there are lots of picnics and off~plan foods!

    Why?

The question is not why do
    weekends seem hardest,
but why do we let the
    ***ICK CRAVINGS***
    take over on weekends
when remaining POP during the week seems so easy?

Many of us find these three days of the week bring with them the biggest challenges to staying on plan.

That is why this weekend your is to be a
    WEEKEND WARRIOR!

Let yourselves be independent of those cravings.
Prove to yourself that you can be independent of the off~plan foods.

July 4th Pictures, Images and PhotosI know I am getting a jump on the 4th of July, but these were so cute, I couldn't resist.  LOL

Been spending the day so far, getting presents taken care of for my Daughter (july 6th baby) and brother (July 10th baby).  Also been booking and planning another vacation for September.  Man, there is so much to do when you are going pretty far away from your home.  LOL

Been pretty good pop wise yesterday and today so far.  Just want to get back to AT LEAST the same weight I was when I entered NBU Intersession 09.  I am dealing with a lot of issues from the past.  no excuse, but I eat to feel better, or better yet, eat not to feel at all.  But stuffing doesn't do anything for the problems and just makes you miserable in the long run.

Hope you have a fantastic day.  Have TONS of things to plan in the mean time.  LOL  True

REMEMBER FOR FAT BURNING -- WE SHOULD BE
AT LEVEL 5 OR UNDER. How far have you come since you
first started the cardio portion of the 6WBMO??

Next time you are in the middle of your cardio routine -- check
and see which level you are working while in your THR.

    Perceived Exertion Scale

When exercising, you should monitor your
intensity to make sure you're not working too hard. One way to do
this is by using a Perceived Exertion Scale. For most workouts, you
should stay somewhere between Level 5 and Level 6. For high intensity
interval workouts, your recovery should be around Level 4 or 5, and
your intense interval should not go above 9.

For longer, slower workouts, keep your PE at Level 5 or lower.

    • Level 1: I'm watching TV and eating bon bons

    • Level 2: I'm comfortable and could maintain this pace all day long

    • Level 3: I'm still comfortable, but am breathing a bit harder

    • Level 4: I'm sweating a little, but feel good and can carry
    on a conversation effortlessly

    • Level 5: I'm just above comfortable, am sweating more and
    can still talk easily

    • Level 6: I can still talk, but am slightly breathless

    • Level 7: I can still talk, but I don't really want to.
    I'm sweating like a pig

    • Level 8: I can grunt in response to your questions and can
only keep this pace for a short time period.

    • Level 9: I am probably going to die.

    • Level 10: I am dead.
