Have a plan-friendly recipe you'd
like to share? We'd love to see it!
Here are a few simple instructions
for submitting a recipe. These instructions are current as of March, 2010:
- Please check our
recipe indexes (first entry in each section of the recipe forum) to make sure a
similar recipe isn't already posted. If your recipe is only a slight variation
of something we already have on file, it may not be posted as a new recipe.
Sometimes we may opt to add it as a variation to an existing
recipe; other times we may not opt to use it at all. (sorry!)
- Email your recipes to
recipes@provida.com . Rather than including your recipe as an attachment, please cut-and-paste it into the body of your message. And please send us only
those recipes you've test driven. We don't have recipe testing facilities.
- Include your Provida User
Name. Being logged on to this site doesn't transfer your User Name into your
emails. You'll need to type it in manually.
- Be specific. We need ingredient
qualities, full instructions, cooking time, oven temperatures etc. Please don't assume I know what you mean by large can or a bag of something. Protein should be in terms of ounces or pounds; other foods in terms of cups, tablespoons or teaspoons. If your
instructions aren't clear, people are going to click on by. Don't let them move on. We want them to try new things!
- If your recipe is an
adaptation of something you found elsewhere, please let us know the name of the
original source. It's only fair.
- You don't have to format your recipe or fill in the charts or links; that's stuff
I get paid to do-- and to be perfectly honest, anything which is sent to me
formatted has to be UN-formatted before I can use my template.
- Unnamed recipes finding their way
into my in box are subject to my weird sense of humor and may end up
sporting names such as "Alvin" or "Chicken (Almost) Like Mom Used to Make."
Spare your recipe this terrible embarrassment by naming it before you send it
in.
Please bear in mind that email is a
man-made system which sometimes goes awry. Every once in a while things get lost in
Cyberspace. (Wasn't that the name of a TV show?) If more than a couple of weeks have
elapsed since you sent in your recipe, please double check with me to make sure
I got it. I won't bite.
Whereas in the past it wasn't our practice to respond to recipe submissions, we're making a change (hopefully, for the better). Assuming you've provided your User Name on whatever you send in, you may expect a response from me via PM (private message; check in your green toolbox) letting you know if your recipe has been cleared for take-off. Please don't ask for a response via email since I don't have access to the Provida email system. Instead, I will advise you via PM whether your recipe is fine as is; whether it needs
clarification; or whether we'll be adding it
as a variation to an existing recipe. If we won't be using it, I'll let you know that (as well as why) as well.
Still have questions? Drop me a PM.
September 1, 2010 Update: As I continue to help my mother as needed during her course of chemotherapy, my schedule here may be somewhat erratic and I may not be handling recipe submissions or responses to queries in as timely a manner as I'd like. I ask for your continued patience and
understanding while we go through this rough spot and if you have any
questions PLEASE contact me via PM.
At present, I've processed anything received through August 30, so if you sent something in before that time and it's not posted, please check your PMs to make sure I haven't contacted you with a question or concern.
