Welcome to the Recipe Exchange!  Our goal here is to help you maximize your success on this program by tempting your palate with plan-friendly recipes.

Finding your way around the Recipe Exchange

    • Each section of this forum is indexed.  Indexes are the very first post in each section.  For your convenience, we've sorted recipes by different categories within the indexes.  If you find something in the index which appeals to you, simply click on the recipe name and you'll be transported directly to the actual recipe.
Hint:  Right click recipe links and open a new window or tab in your browser to view.
That way the index will remain available in your main window and you don't
                     have to keep backtracking.

    •  Don't know which index to look in?  Take a moment to think about the classification of the food you're looking for.  In many cases, locating recipes for particular foods is pretty self-explanatory.  It’s pretty simple to guess that recipes for chicken breast will be in the Chicken Recipe Forum, turkey breast will be in the Turkey Recipe Forum and so forth.  Similarly, if you’re looking for a new way to serve your rice, potatoes or some other carb, you’d look in the Side Carb Dish Recipe Forums.

    • There are separate forums for each of the major types of protein.

    • A few tips:
    • Foods typically eaten at breakfast (eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, oats, muffins…) will most likely be found in the Breakfast Recipes.

    NEW FEATURES, 2010:
    • Breakfast Recipe Forum Index:  In addition to listing recipes in terms of recipe type (ie eggs, breakfast meats, baked goods etc.)  you'll now find recipes listed in terms of components (protein and carb, protein and fruit, protein, carb and fruit  etc.)
    • Veggie Recipe Forum Index:  To help aid with your choices, we've indicated "Free Veggies" next to any recipes which fall into this category.  If a recipe happens to contain other components besides vegetables, you'll now see a note indicated alongside (example: "also contains protein.")
    • NEW! recipes:  Been away for a while?  Wondering what's been posted since you last had a look?  To help you find recipes which have been posted in the last three months, we'll now be designating them with the word "NEW!" in the main listing (not in the recipe indexes, however).
    • Informational links:  This is a work in progress, folks.  You'll notice that some of our recipes contain certain words highlighted in blue.  These are links you may click for details about item or for help locating them.

    Greek to You?

First time users may wish to consult the General Food and Cooking FAQ for assistance in deciphering charts and terminology.

    Food Troubles?

    • "The food choices are SO limited!" you feel.  I beg to differ with you.  Hit the recipe indexes to get an idea of the many options actually open to you.  Also see "I'm Bored with My Food!" from the General Food and Cooking FAQ.
    • "Where are the recipes for MY body type?"  you're wondering.  They're right here.  Just about every recipe on this forum is applicable to every body type.  What differs is WHEN you get it and HOW MUCH of it you may be allowed.  So instead of having to create five times the number of forums we have at present we offer you nifty little charts underneath each recipe, listing each meal and the body types allowed that meal.  If you're confused about the chart check out the explanation in the General Food and Cooking FAQ.  Please also note that some of the more ambiguous forums (Breakfast Recipes and Dessert Recipes, for example) have the indexes listed in terms of components as well as the type of recipes-- so if your body type needs protein and fruit for that meal, you can find a listing which includes recipes containing protein and fruit.)
    • Confused about portion sizes?  Please read this link.  If you still have questions, please feel free to send me or any of the staff members a PM (Personal Message) for assistance.   We won’t bite.  Honest.
    • Can't find a way to post your recipe?  That’s because there isn't one.  Because of the highly restrictive nature of this program we ask that all recipes be submitted to Staff so they may be checked for plan friendliness prior to sharing.  Please see the Submit Recipes guidelines in a separate post.

    Also Worth A Look

    • Want to tell someone about the wonderful kitchen tool you have or share the method Aunt Agnes told you for keeping broccoli bright green and crisp?  Post it in the "Tips and Ideas Forum."

    Last but not least

Before trying any recipe, please take the time to review any staff notes which may appear within a recipe (especially the notes in red) as well as the member feedback following the recipes.  Yes, we know it takes extra time—but look at it this way:  a few extra moments spent up front may make the difference between a smashing success or crashing-and-burning in the kitchen.  Remember the old saying:  A stitch in time saves nine?  Well, it can.

The recipes and cooking information in this forum are here for your use.  Anything in this forum has been reviewed by Staff and with the exception of recipes or items with notes from us indicating otherwise, should be acceptable for plan use.  If you have questions or comments about any of the posted recipes, ask away. After all, if YOU aren’t sure what a scant teaspoon is, it’s likely that somebody else may not know either.  (and bearing that in mind, that’s another reason why we nag you to read the posts and notes.  Someone else may have already asked what you’re questioning and your answer may be right there for you!)  In posting your feedback and questions we have two small favors to ask of you:  (1) Be tactful.  It’s okay not to like a recipe.  It’s even helpful to others if you tell them you didn't care for it—but it’s HOW you go about doing it which really matters.  Saying “this recipe had too much lemon for my tastes” is a lot easier on someone’s ego than reading “This was gross and I had to spit it out!!!”  Be mindful of people’s feelings; the person who submitted the recipe may eagerly be reading responses. (2)  Please take a moment (yes more time.  We know…) to make sure you’re posting your feedback under the appropriate recipe.  Don’t deprive someone of your thoughts about chili by posting your feedback on a muffin recipe.

If all else fails—either because you can’t locate the recipe you want or because your comments are more general in nature-- please post in the Food and Eating forum.
