Hey Guy's, Just checking in. Still plugging along and sticking to the plan. I updated my weight loss ticker, and posted my 20 pounds lost avatar tonight. Down to 389 and 22 pounds lost. I feel great, and I fit into my clothes again. Next step, have them get loose so I need to buy new ones.
Anybody else having any luck? Let us hear about it! Have a great week, and keep working the plan! Peter

Peter,
Gr8t job on the weight loss!
I have been traveling for the last week and will be traveling for the next three weeks. Very diffucult to stay on plan with that much traveling and no prepared food but somehow I am maintaining.
Still trying to get in five days of cardio @ 50 minutes per session and am able to do some resistant training, 3 sessions per week (OK'd by BMOS Dolores).
Take care!
Mike

Hey guys,
Just dropping a line. Here all night at work at the hospital; as usual. As of Wednesday morning when I weighed, I've lost 19.5 pounds since starting the program on May 11th.
I can't believe how effortless it has been so far. I've yet to get tired of the food choices I am currently eating. And it is amazing how much the impulse to eat starchy carbohydrates has decreased.
Hopefully the pace continues. Everyone have a great weekend.

Hey guys!! I am back on here, I saw that many of you are having great success, this is good!! I am starting week 5 today and I am down 16 pounds, so I am pretty happy about that. However, I have not done any cardio or 18 minutes exercises this past week, so I know I can do better! I am hoping that I am not goign to gain anything back this week, I lost a lot more last week that the previous week, due to some issues at home and me eating a lot less, but I am trying to get back on track this week!! 2 weeks to go and I would love to loose 4 more so I can get to 20!!! Then my brother is coming to visit, so I will have to be very careful!! LOL

I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve neglected to
respond to the past several emails. Sorry about that. Yes this programs works
unbelievably well. I’m down 48 lbs and am only 15 lbs away from my goal weight
of 192 lbs. People at my work are starting to ask what I’m doing to lose the
weight and I am finding myself a new hobby in helping others achieve the same
weight loss I have. My advice, stay on plan and stay focused on the big
picture. Monitor what you eat daily at first to make sure it is POP (perfectly
on plan). Start viewing food as the means to an end, the tool you’re using to
accomplish your goal of losing weight. Make food your slave instead of the reverse.
It’s possible with this plan because you’re never hungry for very long before
it’s your next meal time. As far as the 6 week part is concerned, I never
expected to lose all the weight in that short of period. I started this program
on 1/28/2009, just over 4 months ago. I don’t look at this as a quick fix
anymore; it has become my new way of eating and a new way of life because I
never ever again want to have to deal with the same health, physical
limitations, physical appearance, personal or career issues I’ve had to deal
with up ‘till this point. Food is just not worth that much to me. I’m worth
much more than what goes into my mouth. I hope all who read this posting will
think about these things enough to reach similar conclusions. Hang in there, you’re
worth it!!!

Hi Guy's, I got to post my 25 pounds lost avatar tonight. Down to 386 pouunds. I'm going to the health club 6 days a week, for a 30 minute cardio workout. I try to walk on the weekends, but it's hard to try and fit into my schedule. I have a door code to use the local health club 24/7, so even if the weather is bad, I can still go.
I know this is going to take more than six weeks, this is my second time on the plan, and you have to view this as a life style change to have lasting success. Have a great day, and stay the course!

Great job Mr. Jones! I've been thinking of joining a local club myself but money is so tight these days that I haven't been able to do that yet. I'm starting to do my cardio workouts more now that the sun is peeking out more frequently, but I'm still a bit inconsistent with it. I really hate running in the rain and Oregon has plenty of it. I'm thinking of the local community college instead but need to check if they have any summer classes available in the gym so I can have access.

Hey All- Just joined the forum- and just started the plan yesterday. I do have a question though. I'm finding myself very hungry- will that change after I do the program a few more days and my body adjusts to my new eating plan?

My suggestion to you would be to add more "free foods" to your meals so the added bulk will help satisfy your cravings. You can search the forums for more ideas on "free foods" by using the search option near the top-right of each forum page. One thing to note is that if you are getting hungry between meals that just means your metabolism is kicking in already and that's a good thing. That's the goal. Also, make sure to drink the recommended 100 ounces of water each day as well. Here's a link to the search results I found using the search button as suggested above.

Posted my 30 pounds lost avatar, tonight. Down to 381.2 pounds. Monday should be the end of the first 6 weeks, so I suppose i'm on track for weight loss. Thanks for posting that link about free foods, I'll have to check that out. I don't really feel hungry, but sometimes at night, I want a snack, and I'd rather have some free foods around, than grabbing something off plan.

Peter,
Thirty pounds for 6 weeks is GREAT!. That's what I lost the first time I was on the plan.
Beware that once you start getting closer to your goal weight, the weekly losses might start to slow down. You will also see plateau's in your weight loss.
Again GREAT job and keep POP!
Mike

Good job both of you Mike and Peter! You guys are doing great. I'm struggling a bit with the plateau thing right now and can't seem to shake the last 15 lbs even when I'm POP...just creeping down ever so slowly. Any suggestions? Hang in there guys. Roger Update 7/15/2009 READ THOSE LABELS!!!!
Thought I better update this post to tell you guys what I discovered. I was eating hidden salt in my chicken I was unaware of. My frozen chicken contained 10% salt and that's one label I hadn't even read since I've been on this program. What an idiot I was. Michael makes it clear we need to read labels but I thought chicken was just chicken, right? Wrong! Read those labels on absolutely everything that you're considering putting into your mouth. After swithing to fresh chicken from the butcher and making sure no sodium, salt, brine or anything but pure plain water was added, I started losing weight quickly again. The last few pounds I needed to lose to reach my goal started dropping off nearly as fast as it did when I first started Michael's program. I'm now less than 3 pounds from that goal. Read those labels!!! Best wishes to all, Roger

Thanks rcman- I've added some of the "free foods" to my main meals this week and have not been overly hungry. Also, just did my 1 week weigh in, and i've lost 10 lbs! I don't anticipate that it'll continue that fast, but it was definitly a motivating result. Good luck to the rest of you on this journey! Until next week,

RC- You might want to jolt your system. Try to add 1 more oz of protien and card at your main meals or eat something a little different that you haven't had in a long time.
I tend to eat the same things over and over, then my body metabolism starts to slow down. I will mix it up by having an omelette for dinner one night instead of chicken or possibly eat off plan for one meal. Seems to crank the metabolism back up.
Anyway, have been traveling for the last three weeks and it is tough to stay POP. Don't have access to a refrigerator, microwave, or a kitchen. Have to eat out alot. One good thing is that the motel I am in has a great fitness center so I can still walk and lift weights.
Hang in there, by jolting your system it might break you out of the plateau.
Take care.
Mike

Hey everybody,
Just checking in to update my progress. I have now lost 29.5 pounds in 7 weeks. I can't believe how well it is going considering how much I starved myself and exercised to get these kind of results a few years ago. Hope to be able to put up my 30 pounds lost avatar in the next day or two.
Hope everyone is doing well and having good results with their efforts. Am at work -as usual-have to cut it short. Have a great week!!

Hey, guys. Just giving the thread a little bump. I completed my first full week yesterday without any major deviation from the plan. I missed a few meals over the weekend, but that was the extent of the damage. It looks like weekends might be a little tricky, since they're usually less structured than weekdays. All in all, it was a good week. I recently had to move back in with my folks, who aren't on the plan, and they ordered a pizza Saturday night. I was proud of myself when I was perfectly content with my grilled chicken, rice, and sauted vegetables. There are still leftovers in the fridge and they aren't the least bit tempting. I usually don't like tooting my own horn, but I think I may have turned a corner on my eating habits. I'm not going to lie, I think I'd still enjoy a good pizza pie. My Italian upbringing doesn't agree with this plan. I weighed in at 302 this morning. Over the last few years, I've been hovering in the 315-320 range, so I'll be happy to lose the 3 next to my weight in the coming weeks. Hope everybody is doing alright and let's try to post a little more in the men's forum, eh?

Hey Mike, it's great to have you on board with the 6wbmo plan! You're doing great Mike and I just want to encourage you to keep it up! That was a tough one, with the pizza being delivered right in front of your face, but you stood your ground and made the right decision for you. Way to go! I've been on the plan now since January 28th, 2009 and have lost 60 lbs so far. I'm within sight of my original goal by only a handful of lbs now. It hasn't always been easy, at times it's been very tough. But the payoff is when you stand on that scale and see yourself in the mirror you'll know it was worth the effort, big time!! I tried to keep a journal as they recommend (which is a very good idea by the way) of everything I ate each day so I'd be able to pin down anything that slowed my weight loss. It sounds like you've got a pretty good grasp on how the plan works, so I'm sure you'll do fine. One thing that snuck (I know, bad grammer - lol) up on me was that I didn't read the labels on my frozen chicken, which was full of sodium and I didn't know it until well into the plan. It played a big part in causing my metabolism to slow down to the point where sometimes I would only lose maybe 1 pound per week :( - but after discovering this and switching to fresh chicken and making sure no sodium was added I began to lose about 3-4 lbs per week again. So, two pieces of advice for a newbie here: One, journal what you eat daily. And two, read those labels, even on something like just plain old frozen chicken. You're right about the men's section, btw, it's sometimes a little too quiet for my liking. I switch back and force with the whole group forums too because there's a lot more activity. I'll try to post more now. Nice talking to you, later. Roger

Over the last few years, I've been hovering in the 315-320 range, so I'll be happy to lose the 3 next to my weight in the coming weeks. Hope everybody is doing alright and let's try to post a little more in the men's forum, eh?

Nice to see a reply. Hopefully, there will be more to come. Years ago, I did this for six weeks, so I'm a restarter of sorts. It's always been in the back of my mind to start back up, but it took this long to persuade myself. I'm kicking myself for not doing this earlier. Oh well, at least I'm here right now. You brought up a couple of good points for the newbies; label reading and food journaling. On the labeling side, I'm glad I read your recent post. I pulled out some frozen chicken breasts, from my freezer, and read the ingredients. Looks like I bought the wrong stuff! Back to the drawing board.
