    Hi Tim,

I always did 50-60 min a day in my Target Heart Range (THR) which was about 96-115/min.  I didn't use a treadmill because 1) I didn't have one and 2) my knees were not in the best shape.  I purchased one of those Tony Little Gazelles and that was really gentle on the knees, so I just turned on my fav tv show of the night and glided through that.  Now that I've lost so much weight, I can use a treadmill (or walk outside) and I still stay within my THR which is a nice comfortable walk.  It doesn't really matter if your at the low end of your THR or the high end of your THR as long as you're within the range.

For the toning I strictly used the bands.  I found it hard to try and convert the exercises in the book to any other appuratus like free weights or other weight machines.  I stuck strictly to what the book said I should do as far as exercises, reps and counts.  This method worked pretty good for me, and I did discover it's not the hard intense workout I dreaded or thought I needed, instead it was just very effective in toning my body to exactly how I blue printed it.  I did the day 1 sculpting on Tues and the day 2 sculpting on Fri.

My schedule with the exercising was Sun - off, Mon, Wed, Thur, Sat - cardio, Tue, Fri - Body Sculpting.

Lastly, depending on when you exercise you must remember to eat your pre-workout meal.  If you are exercising after lunch or dinner you do NOT need to do the pre-workout meal, at any other meal you would have to add in.  I always did my exercising after dinner so I never bothered to learn what I had to do, but it's in your binder as to what to add to the meal.

I hope this helps you out, if not, just let me know.  BTW, great job on your loss so far.  Make sure to take all the before pictures and measurements, they are great motivators as you start to lose.

    Take care,
    Bob

Hey Bob, how ya doing? It's good to see you post on this forum. We have a lot of newbies here (or starting overs) now and it would be great to have another 6wbmo veteran such as yourself here to help respond to some of the posts. Hope you and your family are doing well. Haven't heard back from Cliff regarding the Men's infomercial. He contacted me a couple weeks ago to see if I could send him a few more "after" pics, but that's the last I've heard from him. Prior to that, the said it was scheduled to be released in February ("hopefully", he said). I think they're nearing the final cut. I'm sure we'll hear from him/them again soon. I know you have a fairly large part in that one, as you should have. Your testimony is very inspiring and motivating to all of us.

    Take care Bob,

    Roger

    Hi Roger,

It sure was fun out in L.A. and you know I miss the whole gang.

About a couple weeks before the last infomercial came out they called me up and asked me for some new after pics as-well-as pics of me with my kids (yep you saw it on the infomercial at the end of my segment).  Then a few days before it came out they sent me release forms for me to sign so they could show the kids on TV.

So, if they're asking you for more pics, then they're probably pretty close to releasing it.  I can't wait to see it, let me know if you hear anything else.

Hello guys glad to see everyone is doing well.  I second the thanks to the veterans for being willing to help out and provide knowledge and advise along the way.  Hey has anyone heard from Chicago Mike?  Haven't seen him post in a while.  Well been doing good on the food part, I think I am done worrying about the stupid congestion and I am just going to the gym anyway.  Haven't really lost any more weight but haven't gained any either so that is cool.  Everyone keep up the good work and hopefully we'll all get to goal before summer.

     Hi again Bob,

I hope they'll have us both back in LA somewhere down the road to show that the program works long term as well as it does short term. I know they've had a few other veterans of the program back more than once. I also wanted to update you that Cliff emailed me again and asked if I'd be willing to have some more pics taken locally (he first wanted to see if was still lean, of course)...I'm thinking, I guess so...lol. Needless to say, I'll be absolutely POP every meal, every day 'till then (should have been all along anyway, even without a photo shoot coming up). It's way too easy for me to make those little/subtle compromises that slow my metabolism. I haven't gained anything since LA, I've lost more, but have stalled trying to reach a much lower body fat index due to those little compromises such as milk in my coffee, foods with just a little sodium or sugar, etc..Do you ever have a problem with that yourself? Any thoughts (it's okay to get tough on me, I probably need it). My current weight is around 190lbs, but by this time it should be closer to 180lbs...shame on me!

I'll be excited to see the finished video when it's released, hope I'm worthy to be a part of it. It should be soon from the sound of things.

    Roger

I haven't had much time to sit down and post, so I've been lurking around lately.  Don't worry, I'm still here.  Glad to see everybody is doing so well.

I weighed in last week and lost one pound, but ended up gaining a couple of inches from my measurements taken a couple of weeks ago.  I found that to be a little discouraging.

The gym I went to was bought out by another gym and the rates went up dramatically.  So, I had to drop my membership.  I had to alter my workouts a bit.  I'm using the bands for my upper body, I use a 50lb free weight and do squats with that, stretch out every morning, and play basketball, for a couple of hours, every Wednesday.  Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can get out on the bike.

    Have a good weekend fellas.

    Hi Mike,

It's good to hear from you again. Your progress has been phenomenal! I wanted to ask you if you've listened yet to the CD "The Science of Eating More and Exercising Less" that came with your package. Michael explains in detail exactly what happens in our bodies that seems to fly in the face of conventional thinking today on how to lose weight, but it's backed by solid scientific evidence. Conventional thinking tells us to eat less and exercise more, but in actuality, this is opposite of what we need to do. It's very easy to fall back into that thinking pattern since it's so prevalent out there today. Our bodies need a sufficient amount of rest to regenerate and rebuild muscle tissue after a good workout. I found myself not losing or even gaining weight if I didn't get enough sleep.  For me, it was every bit as important to losing weight as was the eating plan itself.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your situation or not, but it's worth taking a look at and re-listening to that CD if you get the chance. My biggest struggle seems to be the little things like, putting milk in my coffee (more than a splash), using condiments that have a little too much salt or sugar (even though used in moderation), eating just a piece or two of candy (or 3 or 4 or 5...), but it all adds up to my metabolism slowing to a crawl. I've decided I need to once again go back to being POP (perfectly on plan) until I look good in my bathing suit and don't feel self conscience.Today, I weighed in at 189.4 lbs, down from my goal of 192 lbs, but still struggling with those stupid love handles. They're going away soon, I promise you. I'm putting myself out there now 'cause I obviously need accountability to stay POP.

We all have our struggles from time to time Mike, you hang in there, your success is quite inspiring to us as I hope ours may be to you as well.

I found an interesting web site that may be of interest to you and others reading this post. It explains sound reasoning about why we sometimes gain weight when we start a new cardio or workout program. Keep in mind, however, that many of the plans cited in this video use conventional eating methods to lose weight. The 6wbmo plan is unique in that it uses food (the right foods, right times, quantities, etc) as the primary mechanism to speed up our metabolisms versus extreme exercise routines. Michael makes it clear in the info he provides that our weight loss with his plan is 70% due to the eating plan itself and the rest is from our cardio workouts.

     Here's that link:

    Take care,

    Hi Joe,

Congrats on the 2 lbs lost...hope your congestion goes away real soon! It's hard to do workouts when you can't breathe, but the eating plan is the most important aspect of this overall program. That accounts for 70% of the weight loss (those are Michael's numbers, not mine).

I have three questions for you:

    1) Are you still able to eat on plan while you're sick? (food types, times, quantities)

    2) Are you getting sufficient rest? (your body needs this recovery time even more when you're sick). Also, since it's congestion you're dealing with, doing your workouts will place more demand on your oxygen intake needed for both system recovery and muscle regeneration. Please refer to the link post below for more fun reading...

    3) Are you able to drink your 100 ounces of water each day? (an adequate amount of water is not only essential to our weight loss, it's also needed to help fight off illnesses).

I think I would be less concerned over the workouts and concentrate on the essentials first, and then worry about the workouts when you're completely over the congestion. If you're too sick to eat POP, the rest and water are probably the two most important things you need 'till you're better. Those are my thoughts for what they're worth.

I welcome comments from others who may have other thoughts about this to offer.

    Take care...and get well soon.

    Roger

    Looking for help:

Hey guys sorry for not posting.  Still congested as heck so not much on the exercise front there.  However I have been working hard on the eating right so I was still able to drop about 2 lbs last week.  I'm hoping I can finally get rid of this garbage this week and start some real exercise again.  Just becomes hard when you can't breathe.  Great to see the overall great progress some of you have been having.  This week will be busy but I plan on posting more.  Keep up the great work.

Hey Roger, yes I have been trying hard to drink my water and eat correctly as well as the 5 times a day.  As for the sleep I am working on that.  Most of the time I get at least 5 to 6 hours (I'm in bed for more then that but not always able to sleep).  I'm not pushing the workouts yet either even though it is frustrating.  I have tried a few times and it just gets a little to much not being able to breathe good enough.  It stinks because I have had this garbage since around the beginning of Dec.  However so have a few other people at work so it's not just me.

Well I am hoping to get over this soon and this weekend I am working on putting together a menu plan for next week.  I hope to change a few things up so that maybe I can jump start my metabolism a little more.  If I don't talk to you guys have a great weekend.

I ordered the program years and years ago.  I went through the cassette tapes, and didn't see the "The Science of Eating More, and Exercising Less".  Maybe I misplaced it, or maybe that wasn't a part of the package when I got it.  I'm definitely getting enough sleep throughout the night, though.

My problem is probably the same as yours.  I fudge on a few things.  Honestly, I haven't been perfectly on plan since Thanksgiving; mainly just missing meals.  I didn't gain any weight back (I actually lost some).  I got it in my head that I can follow the plan loosely and still maintain my current weight, which isn't the case.

I'll make a deal with you.  You stay POP until you get your beach body, I'll stay POP until I lose my last 15-20 pounds.  Deal?  Big Smile

    Hi Mike,

Sounds like a deal to me. I'm down a couple lbs since re-disciplining myself to be POP...still have a ways to go to look good in my swim suit. Have a short/local photoshoot Monday or Tuesday this next week, so that's really a big motivator for me right now.

Did you order your program from Provida? If so, they should be able to replace the missing CD for you at no cost. I got mine off eBay, unfortunately, so I have no such options if I were to misplace or lose anything.

Today's weigh in was at 188.2 lbs. I don't have a clear goal set at this point since I have no idea now what my beach body weight should be. I'm more concerned of how I look in the mirror in my bathing suit. I think I'll just go by what the charts say for my height (6.0 ft.) as a starting point and pick a number for my new goal. Any thoughts?

    Thanks Mike...talk to u later

    Roger

    Good morning guys!

I am pleased to report that I have lost 14.6 pounds and a total of 7.0 inches since beginning the program on January 14 (2.0 inches from my waist). I lost 4.4 pounds last week. I am so close to the 15lb avi that I can almost touch it! Wink

    This Weeks Stats:

    Weight = 267.4 lbs | Body Fat Percentage = 45.9% | Body Hydration Level = 39.4%

    Body Mass Index (BMI) = 37.4 | Bone Mass = 7.2 lbs

Bob - Thank you for sharing your workout program with us. Late in the week I pulled back from 103 to 95 on my target heart rate and from 40 minutes to 30 minutes for the duration to see if that would help with my overtraining problem and it seemed to help a bit. I think I just need to be more patient with myself and give my body time to adjust to the workouts. And yes, I eat pre-workout meals for my mid-afternoon snack prior to working out at 5:00 pm and I am taking measurements every other week. As I posted above I am now down a total of 7 inches. Appreciate your assistance and advice!

Mike - Good to see your post. I too was wondering if all was okay with you. Hang in there ... bike riding season will soon be here! With 17 pounds to go, it won't be long until you've reached your goal weight! BTW, COUNT ME IN on the POP challenge you made to Roger. I am with you guys!!! Cool

Roger - Thank you for all the great posts and for the web links. The article at Daily Spark was very helpful! The photo shoot sounds like a lot of fun. Sent you a PM with a few questions about it.

James - Want to join the POP challenge? Smile

Joe - Congrats on the 2 lbs weight loss. Good for you on working hard on the eating plan! Be patient with yourself. It will happen for you! Also, good luck with the new menu plan you put together for yourself.

David - Good to see you working out at the workout center, putting in an hour of cardio. Awesome!

    Have a GREAT week everyone!

    Tim,

Congratulations on the loss so far, you're doing great.  The nice thing about this plan is that it really allows you to get to know your body and what foods do what to you as well as what exercises do what to you.

Keep up the great work and the enthusiasm.

I finally was able to get back to the forums. They've been down for quite a while now. Hope everyone is doing okay and staying OP. I know it's hard at times, but don't let those little slip ups or off plan mistakes get you off track. Just get back OP again and act like it never happened. That's one of the keys to long term success with this program; there's no such thing as failure unless and until you give up completely and refuse to try any more. Sometimes it's 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, but you're still making progress toward your goals. Keep the momentum going forward.

    Hang in there guys,

    Roger

    Good morning guys!

Hope everyone is doing well. I am pleased to report today that I have lost 17 pounds since beginning my journey on Jan 14. Although there has been a day or two that a meal or snack was delayed by 30 or 45 minutes due to business conference calls, I have been POP every day. I really enjoyed posting my 15 avi!

It has been a good week for me. Trying out some new recipes occasionally and posting reviews in the "Greek and Italian Food Lovers" forum thread. Saturday night I made Rocco's Italian Scallops for my wife and me ... YUMMMM!!! Last night was a Greek dolmades recipe. Also very, very good. Encourage you guys to give them a try. Yes

SMART Technique Automatic Fat Loss Program

I uploaded to my Photo Gallery some "Goal Weight Photos" taken of me about 30 years ago. I selected those photos as part of my assignments for the SMART Technique. This was my first week going through the SMART program. I am a Repeat Offender and Emotional Eater. Am now listening to the first two CDs in the set.

For those who have gone through the SMART program, especially Repeat Offenders or Emotional Eaters, I would be interested to hear your thoughts and reflections on how the program helped assist you with your weight loss following the 6WBMO plan. For me, the Accelerator Program exercise questions you have to answer prior to listening to the CDs can be quite revealing ... pulling to the surface all kinds of bad attitudes about food and incorrect ways of thinking about food. I am glad to be going through it because their is a lot of wrong thinking in my head about food that I MUST correct if I am ever going to be content long term living the rest of my life on the Living Lean plan.

I shared the above in the Newbies forum this weekend, and I thought it would be a good idea to get your feedback on this as well. Looking forward to your reponses!

Have a great week! Big Smile

    Tim

Tim - Congratulations on the new AVI, 15 looks pretty good.  I remember during my reduction phase all my mini goals were centered around changing my avi.  I wish I had some words of wisdom about the SMART program, but I didn't do that one.  I hope you get some responses about it.

Roger - How's it going?  I got an email from Presley asking more questions for the new infomercial.  She said it will be out this month in some test cities, but she didn't know when it's going nationwide.  I figure that at lease we know the two of us will be in this one.

To everyone else on this thread, I hope life is treating you good and you are in control of your eating and your eating is not in control of you.

    Take Care,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

I guess it's getting closer to being on the air. Sounds like it should be out within the next week or so in select areas. Cliff said he'd let me know of it's airing times when it's out.

    Take care,

    Roger

Hey everyone glad to see you all well.  Tried to get on the website a few times this weekend and it was slow as molasses so I never did post.

Tim congrats on the 15lb AVI, it does make you feel good when you see those going up and the weight coming off.  Unfortunately haven't gotten over to your Greek Thread but sounds like there would be some great ideas over there so I am going to have to check it out.  Been chugging along myself not really loosing anymore but not gaining either so that is a plus.  Can finally start exercising later this week so that will be a huge plus.  Well everyone keep up the good work and keep up being that positive kick we all need.

Congratulations Mike.  I know it gets harder the closer you get to goal, but you just hang in there.  You're doing great.
