    Onion Soup
    __________________________________________________________________________

From member irenes. I have always loved French onion soup; this one is great.

    • 3 cups sliced sweet yellow onions
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • ½ teaspoon Splenda
    • 2 cans (14.5 oz) nsa beef broth (available at health food store)
    • 2 tablespoons white wine or dry sherry (BMOS Note: Use ordinary table wine rather than cooking wine or cooking sherry, either of which is loaded with salt.)
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

In stockpot, cook onions and garlic covered for 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in Splenda; cook 15 minutes or until onion mixture is very soft and browned. Add beef broth, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 6 to 10 minutes. Add wine and pepper, stir.

    Compatible with Body Type:
    Breakfast A-B-C-D-E
    Morning Snack A-B-C-D-E
    Lunch A-B-C-D-E
    Afternoon Snack A-B-C-D-E
    Dinner A-B-C-D-E
    PM Snack A-B-C-D-E

This Recipe Contains: All Free Foods

How do I measure out a serving?

This sounds yummo!!! Could you use red onions or would that not taste right? I LOVE Onion soup. How big of cans do you use? I've got the Herb-Ox stuff that is only 5mg of sodium per cup.
    Thanks!!

I've never used red onions, if you like them give them a try. I use 14.5 oz cans of no salt added beef broth from my local Wild Oats Store. Experiment and enjoy!

These are all "free" foods. Be reasonable in your serving size, but there is no restriction.

I just tried this recipe.  WOW!  I didn't have any broth so I added hot water and about 1/2 cup of op salsa.  Substituted the splenda with sweet n low brown sugar, shredded my chicken portion and ladled the soup over the chicken.  I will be adding this to my personal collection.  Cheap, easy, filling and really good.

Thank you for posting this recipe!

Hello there!! I made this and it was great!!! I actually use it to flavor my brown rice.  I just add a tablespoon to my rice and heat it up. Great recipe!!!!

     Thanks
