    Dear Prospective Students:

    It is my honor to inform you that you have been accepted to New Body University. We are delighted to find so many qualified applicants. As a student at NBU, you will find fine living accommodations, experienced advisors, and friends from around the world. But more importantly you’ll be receiving a first rate education. Regardless of your degree track (6WBMO or SMART), you’ll learn all you need to know to make this life style change a permanent one.

    We have high academic standards and we expect all our students to attend class (post often), participate in classroom projects and assignments (challenges), and most importantly maintain excellent grade point averages (earn your credits). We also require that our staff attend continuing education classes (stay on plan too) to ensure that we always have the best and the brightest. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week.

    Your Resident Advisors, saycheese and 8ItAll will be here shortly. RUSH week begins May 26th and you will begin earning your credits on that day. On behalf of the faculty and staff of NBU, I welcome you. Please note that an official copy of the Student Handbook is enclosed (see below). 

     

    Student Handbook

    As a new student at New Body University, there are a number of rules and guidelines of which you need to be very familiar.

    1. Everyone following the 6WBMO, SMART plan, or who is Living Lean is accepted for admission into this University game. If you have any medical modifications (doctor suggested changes to either the food or exercise portion) please report them to your RA via PM.

    2. This session’s schedule begins with enrollment starting May 17 followed by Move In starting May 21. Students begin to earn credits during RUSH Week which kicks off on May 26. Credits will be earned through July 6 and Final credits are to be reported by students ON July 7.

    3. Conference assignments are made on a regional basis.

    4. You will be earning academic credits for following the 6WBMO or SMART plan guidelines (food—7, water—7, accelerated fat loss—5, and body sculpting—2). You will report your credits each week (Sunday through Saturday) by Midnight Central time Monday evenings. Each student should have their textbooks (6WBMO black book or SMART workbook) and study it regularly. We want all our students to do their best and set a goal to be listed on the Honor Roll each week. Those students who earn 100% of possible individual credits (21) each week will be listed on the Provost’s List. Those students who earn 90% (19-20) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Dean’s List. Those students who earn 80% (17-18) of individual credits each week will be listed on the Honorable Mention List. All students who are on the honor roll will add the appropriate icon to their signature. Students who fail to achieve a minimum of 60% (13) of possible individual credits in a week will be sent to Study Hall. Students in Study Hall will be assigned a tutor (someone who has had some success to buddy with) during their study hall period. If they are able to bring their grades back up the following week they will no longer be required to attend Study Hall. If a student is in Study Hall for two consecutive weeks, additional support will be offered.

    5. You’ll also be tracking your inch losses as described in your plan. You will report this information with beginning stats, with week 3 stats, and with final stats. Your Resident Advisor will have more information for your regarding this.

    6. There will be one thread for each dorm. You are allowed to visit all threads, but attend class (post) only in your own dorm’s thread. You may post all the motivation, encouragement, support, etc. Anything you would like to post that is from any other thread should be done so with full credit to the author via quotes, etc.

    7. You are allowed to have excused absences from class but you need to clear it with your Resident Advisor prior to the absence. Your Resident Advisor will go over the details with you in your dorm.

    8. In an effort to ensure that all recipes posted in NBU are on-plan and that we are providing our students with only the best advice and information we are no longer going to allow students to post recipes in the dorms that have not yet been approved by Provida. Having your recipe approved is a simple process. You can either submit it via the link on the Recipe Exchange page or email it directly to recipes@provida.com. This should be done only by the person who created or discovered the recipe and not forwarded by a dorm chef, RA, or anyone else. Once you’ve had your recipe approved, then you’re welcome to share it with your dorm mates, etc. As always, students are allowed to post recipes they discover in the Recipe Exchange (or post the link to the recipe) but those found in the Makeover America Cookbook are not to be shared online. If you are sharing a recipe from an outside source, please include that source so that proper credit can be given. Even if you have made some minor tweaks to the original recipe, we still need to cite the source.

    Facilities Tour

    New Body University has a host of great places for the students, faculty and staff to use for gathering information and maximizing the game experience.

    NBU 101—The NBU Entrance Course
    This is a place where potential students can go to learn how to post, edit, and otherwise navigate the Provida Forums.

    NBU08 Intersession--Provost's Office and Information Center

    This is the official administration office. Any questions or concerns you have about NBU can be posted here.

    NBU08 Intersession--Registrar's Office
    This is the place to go for enrollments and dorm assignments. It should be the first stop for new students on campus.

    NBU08 Intersession--Food Services

    This is the place to post recipes and ask questions related to the food portion of the 6WBMO and SMART programs. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.

    NBU08 Intersession--QUAD
    This is a general meeting place for student throughout campus—just a relaxed place for open conversation and fun. Students from all dorms are welcome to post here anytime.

    NBU08 Intersession--LockerRoom

    This is the place where exercise and fitness related tips and information will be available to everyone on campus. The primary focus of the Locker Room will be on fitness and well being using the principles of the 6WBMO. Information on different exercises, cardio and how to live a more active lifestyle will be discussed.

    NBU—Residence Halls
    This is where the fun is. Students are assigned to resident halls. They are not allowed to post in halls other than their own. They can “snoop” in others to get ideas, etc. but not post there.

    SOUTH CENTRAL CONFERENCE

     

    CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance into NBU!! I am really proud of all of you for making this commitment to NBU, and most importantly to yourself!!

    My name is Karen (8ItAll) and I will be your CO-RA (CO-Resident Advisor), as well as
    Tammy (Saycheese) for the Summer Intercession 08. Welcome to your new home for the next 6 weeks.

    My job is to give you encouragement, support and motivation while you are here, as well as answer any questions you may have regarding NBU and Provida's website. Rest assured that if I do not know the answer, I will get it for you. I pledge to you my 100% commitment to helping each of you reach your goals!

    Throughout this semester we will have weekly assignments, activities and challenges that
    Tammy and I will expect ALL to participate in. I strongly encourage you to post everyday, stay POP (Perfect on Plan), read your Black Book, and enjoy yourself. Participation is KEY to your success here at NBU. You will only get out of it what you put into it!

    For all the Newbies coming in this Semester, I know this can all seem overwhelming, but rest assured that in a week or so, it will all seem second nature to you.

    Hey South Centrals!  I'm Tammy and I want you to know that I am proud of you all for making the commitment to a healthier you! NBU is a great place for support, motivation, accountability, and FUN as we make the journey to reach our goals.

    Intercession is going to be ICON happy!  You will have a LOT of chances to earn icons...and it will be much more laid back than normal semesters.  BUT stats are still required and very important!


    For those of you that don’t know me, I live in Lower Alabama and have been married to a wonderful man for 7 years.  We have two beautiful daughters, age 5 and 4 (well, she'll be 4 on Saturday). I work full time, own a photography business, got roped into coaching my girls' tee ball team, and am active in my church. I started the 6WBMO on September 17 of last year, and shed 100 pounds to goal by April 8th - less than 7 months.

    That’s enough from me for now! Settle in to your room, explore the campus, and get to know your conference mates. I am excited to get to know you all!

    South Centrals going to Do It Again.  I'm Karen your Co-RA and I am very excited to be joining you in your journey.

    Get settled in and get ready for a FABULOUS Roller Coaster Ride where I will be here to motivate and support each of you.  All I ask is that you give 100% like I plan to.  Just remember The more you participate in NBU the more you are going to get out of it.  I am here for each of you.

    For those of you that don’t know me, I live in Florida Northwest Panhandle and have been married  for 13 years.  We have two very energetic sons, age 10 and 6.  I work full time, and do homework with my boys everynight - NO I am not smarter than a 5th grader - LOL.  I started the 6WBMO on February 26, 2006, and have found that NBU is where I need to be to stay accountable.

    I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and am very excited about the things to come for the next 6 weeks.

    The most difficult thing about the Program for me is: Staying on plan while trying to lead a normal, active life.

    Welcome, Jolie!!  So glad you were able to check in!  It appears that the site problems have been solved, so everyone should be checking in pretty quick.  Karen's on travel with her job, so she'll be checking in later this afternoon.

    You've had a wonderful start with the program!  Stay on plan...it's SO worth it!  Before you know it you'll be answering "YES" to Living Lean (believe me!).

    What made me decide to start the program: You mean restart?  I've just decided that enough is enough.  I'm "at risk" for diabetes and at my current weight, the odds are not in my favor.  I'm tired of being tired.  I'm tired of looking and feeling fat.  I'm tired of having to wear plus sizes, etc.  Need I say more?  LOL

    My goal weight and/or goal size is: Goal weight = 165 / Goal size = 12/14

    The most difficult thing about the Program for me is: Staying focussed.  I do great for a day or two and then I crash.


    NBU and ME



    Why I joined NBU: I can not do this by myself and I enjoy meeting people that share the same struggles.

    What I expect to get out of NBU: A newfound excitement.  Somehow in the last couple years I've forgotten the excitement of watching the scale move downward and the joy of being able to buy smaller sizes. 

    My goal for this semester is: 10#

    Past Dorms I have been in: Too many to name

    Jobs I have done in NBU: Again....too many to name

    When are you most likely to be on the computer? During the day

    Joli and Monique - I am so glad you have joined us here at the South Central Conference.

    Joli - You have made the right choice by being here at NBU and Look how quickly you have already dropped 10 lbs. YOU Go Girl !  I have to share on of my secrets to staying on plan:  Preparing your meals in advance.  Oh how I love to cook.  The only difference now is I am cooking healthier meals.  I am looking forward to GTKY.

    Thanks for the welcome!  I'm really looking forward to "finding" myself again.  I've been off plan for so long that I've actually gained weight.  Sigh...I know this plan works because in the first three months I was on the plan a few years ago, I lost around 35#.  Now....if I can just get that excitement back.  I'm sure being here in South Central that I will find my mojo and get my groove back!

    A little about me....I've been married for 13 1/2 years. I am a mother of three boys and step mom to one.  I was very athletic as a teenager and didn't start gaining weight until after my first child, who will be 13 later this year. 

    I have been around the Provida boards for a long time under a different screenname.  I'm going a little incognito this semester just to give myself a fresh start...and...I felt like being a queen!  HA HA HA!  Big Smile

    Anyway....I can't wait to get started.  I do believe that it's going to be a great semester!  GO SOUTH CENTRAL!!!

    What made me decide to start the program: I have done the Richard Simmons food mover and lost 50 lbs on that and just stood still and over the course of 3 year I have gained all but 15 pounds back and I was thinking that this seemed like something that I needed, something to get me back into the groove

    The most difficult thing about the Program for me is:  not really knowing what I can eat, that and I just dont eat Turkey, I need some great ideas
