My weight issues happened one summer...going from 4th grade to 5th grade. I suddenly ballooned and started dealing with being on the heavy side. Coincidently, this was the same time I hit puberty. Before that, the doctor was telling my parents that I was underweight!!! There were only a few times in my adult life when I was not on the heavy side�when I was doing Country Western dancing , going dancing almost every night, and when I went into the Air Force Reserves, boot camp keeps ya trim and fit. The one other time I got my weight into a manageable range, I did it with a starvation diet (my own food plan) and going to the gym almost every day after work. Funny, that the times I could maintain a decent weight was when I was single! My last weight struggle started in 1989 when I became pregnant and lost the baby 13 days after she was born. There was psychological guilt on my part associated with her death and my ex-husband blamed the breakup of our marriage on the death of our daughter (he needed some excuse for his own personal troubles). My parents were constantly on my case about my weight. My mom is a petite woman and my dad has been somewhat overweight himself. But it seemed like no matter what I did, I could not drop the weight. None of the diets looked right to me, so I avoided them. I tried a couple of weight loss pills and solutions (including the Body Solution one)�what a waste of money, time and effort. My current boyfriend, Don, came into my life about 4 years ago. He didn�t care that I was 10 years older than him and was overweight. But I knew for myself that I was not in a healthy situation. I was fast approaching 50, was weighing close to 220 pounds and needed to do something about my weight. Thankfully, early April 2002, I saw an infomercial for Michael Thurmond�s 6 Week Body Make Over program. I listened to the testimonies and the program seemed like a good one.
