I wanted a weight loss plan that would be filled with nourishing and delicious food and would teach me to eat right so that I could once and for all stop yo-yoing between starvation and binging.
When I saw the informercial I was intrigued and ordered it immediately. The day I started the plan I quit drinking 5+glasses of wine a night and more on wknds. and had no ill side effects. The foods on this plan balanced my blood sugar immediately.
I love the foods, simply prepared and eat the same few choices week in and week out without growing tired of them at all. I crave them now. Oh, I missed salt in the beginning. And I had a headache during week 1. Sometimes when my metabolism is roaring I am uncomfortable.
But I am more than satisfied with this program. I wish Michael had a more structured Living Lean plan because it was easy staying 100% ON PLAN but LL isn't defined personally. I plan on leaving all that STUFF out for good...wheat, processed, dairy, sugar, salt, etc...and adding back in natural foods like nuts and avocados and olive oil for fats. I was a cheezaholic before this plan. Wine, cheese and crackers, throw in some fruit...but I can sure see how quickly I could gain back my weight eating like that again. I want to stay fit and lean for the rest of my life. I turn 50 in Dec. and I'd like to get a physical soon and hear all the gooood news. Being thin again is nicer than I remembered....I can do soooo much more now and I feel soo great too. I am so grateful to Michael for this plan.
ADDED 7/13/04 - WELL, I reached goal on 6/19/04, the day after arriving at the river for a 3 wk. vacation....just in time to add lots of sweeter fruits to my diet that came into season. I needed a lot of extra energy and calories during the stay because we were playing in the white water all of the 3 wks. I have maintained my weight BELOW goal or at goal now for almost 4 weeks! I have pretty much stuck to my original concept of adding only healthy, natural foods on Living Lean. For the most part I continue to eat the same as when losing, but with more fruit and a little more protein per serving. I feel great and LOVE the way I look now! I feared LL a month ago, but now it's a lot of fun.
8/18/04 Well, it's been a full 2 months since starting LL and I am doing great! I weighed in at 126 this a.m. and body fat is about 18.5%! I'm headed to the beach to play for 2 weeks in my bathing suit! This summer has been 10000 times more fun than last yr.!
Oct. 4, 2004 3 1/2 months on Living Lean and still at goal! Have experimented more with foods and find my weight can spike as much as 4 lbs overnight on certain foods. Hoping to find a happy balance soon but meanwhile weighing in daily and adjusting my food accordingly. Have taken up ocean/surf kayaking and seeing major toning results, arms, upper body abs, even legs. And having a blast! Feeling very comfortable in my body these days!
Jan. 4, 2005 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Rereading this I realized that it was Oct. '04 that I started letting more non plan foods back in and my weight has slowly crawled up to 133 since then, from 126. Living Lean is challenging but a process I am willing to commit to so I'm back to ON PLAN again and rethinking the intro of other foods. I didn't think my body would be this sensitive but my goal REMAINS not to revert back to the yo-yo of binging and starving to keep the weight off. More work ahead. I will figure this out.
My advice to Newbies - Make a decision to be ON PLAN 100% before you start...then keep that promise to yourself throughout. Plan and prepare your meals at least a few days in advance at all times so you don't get caught grasping for food. Get on a thread with supportive, like minded people who are commited and stay away from threads where people cheat and enable each other. POST your pictures, in as little as possible from DAY 1. I was grossed out by mine but later as I needed additional encouragement they were there to remind me of where I'd started...and those progress pics in the same clothes or bikini are priceless for your success. I told myself and others that I was only going to look like that 1st pic for a little while and never again and that is the truth. Read our thread, look at the profiles of our group, their weekly weight loss stats and the hundreds of pages of support and see how successful you too can be on this plan! Best Wishes. :)
