I grew up in a family of three and I was the only girl and the middle child. My older brother and I were thin in childhood and my youngest brother was not fat but he was heavier until he was about a junior in high school. As adults though, all three of us struggle to keep our weight down, sometime successfully and sometimes not. But we grew up in the mid-west and in a small farming community, in fact, our Grandparents had a mini-farm with cattle and we learned to love food and each of us have lots and lots of bad eating habits. I have over the years tried several diets including Weight Watchers and Atkins... and I was successful at losing on both plans really well, but not with keeping it off. This last time when I decided once again I needed to lose weight; I went to Weight Watchers and did nothing but lose 20 lbs and gain it back and lose it again. This was so frustrating to me because I really needed to lose 80 - 100 lbs. Then one weekend late at night two nights in a row I seen the 6WBMO Infomercial and it got me to thinking. So I came to the web site and started reading the forums... and decided this was what I needed. AND while this program is exactly what I needed... it is for different reasons now as opposed to my original reasons. I loved having 24/7 support... because with Weight Watchers you had the weekly meeting... but what happened in the middle of the week when I didn’t feel as strong and the words in that meeting had long since wore off? Well, I would eat whatever I wanted then try to make it up in a day or so before my weekly weigh-in. So the 24/7 support of the forum was initially my biggest reason for choosing the program. The one thing I thought I loved about Weight Watchers was the flexibility of being able to eat anything I wanted as long as I counted it and didn’t go over my points... I personally hate structure. SO, when I got this program and seen how "regimented" it was I was not a happy camper... but, still I was driven to give it a try. AND while the support you get on the forums and from the Providia Staff (BMOS Dolores) is still truly wonderful and much more timely for when I need it... the structure of the program is what is truly the key ingredient for me. I have learned that the reason I yo-yo dieted before is because I was still eating my trigger foods... which usually threw me off plan for several days as opposed to just that one meal. The 6WBMO has really made me focus on my relationship with food... good and bad... more than ever before. AND for me I have learned that there are some things I just can’t eat... not if I want to get to goal, maintain my goal and be healthy. I am so grateful for the structure and the regiment of this program. I am lucky that sometimes we get what we need and not what we ask for!!!!!
