I started this plan because I have a 5 year old son and I was 44. I was walking up one flight of stairs, something I don't get to do often, and I was huffing, puffing and sweating. I looked at my son and thought to myself that I may never see him grow up at the rate my health is going. I had gained 20 pounds in the year 2001 alone! I was the heaviest I had ever been. I topped the scales at over 200 pounds. It was probably closer to 210. I wore size 24 and had a 42" waist. I never exercised. I ate junk. I was just basically going to give up being thin. I tried everything; pills, motivational lifestyle changes, fad eating diets in every combination imaginable, liquid diets, high protein, etc, etc. Each time I would lose some weight and gain it all back and more. I was not a fat child and I had been a thin adult 2 times before with a lot of work. In the last few years I started to starve myself to get thin. It had the opposite effect, I actually got even fatter than ever. I literally starved myself - FAT. I saw the infomercial and thought I might try this. I went on-line and saw what great results others were having and so I decided it was either this program or I was going to be fat and eat myself into an early grave and I wasn't going to think about being thin ever again. That was then but now, I weigh 135 and am a size 6 with a 28" waist. I have lost over 65 pounds and over 64 inches. I now jog for a hour 5-6 times a week. The same person who could not walk up one flight of stairs! I work out 3 times a week with the bands. I remade my body, regained my health and my self-esteem. I am now looking forward to turning 50 with a healthier and leaner body than I had at 40. I know I won't have to worry about my weight anymore. Thank goodness for Michael Thurmond and this program. Update 2005 - after too much life getting in the way, my weight has crept up on me and I am now starting over again for health reasons and because I really liked wearing clothes with waistlines! :) FURTHER UPDATE 2005 - GOAL!!! 124 pounds and never felt better - EVER!!!! Oh and I'm a size 2 or 4!!!! YIPPEE!! FURTHER UPDATE 2009 - back to scratch. Bad back, surgery and lack of any interest in myself gained back all my weight. Have to lose 99 pounds this time.
